Pope Francis has assured Nigeria of his prayers following the killing of farmworkers on Saturday in the village of Zabarmari, in Borno State.
“I would like to assure my prayers for Nigeria, which unfortunately has yet again been bloodied by a terrorist massacre,” he said,
Pope Francis gave the assurance in remarks at the end of the Wednesday General Audience.
The Pope lamented the death of the farmers, many of whom witnesses say were beheaded while in the fields.
“May God welcome them into His peace and comfort their families; and convert the hearts of those who commit such horrors, which severely offend His name,” the Pope prayed.
