Government Responsible for Issues in PDP, Labour Party – Peter Obi

0

According to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, the government is to blame for the internal problems inside the party and the PDP.
He made the assertion in a 7-minute, 16-second video that was making the rounds on the party’s WhatsApp network on Saturday while addressing a group of youthful followers.

The former governor of Anambra State responded to a young person who seemed troubled by Obi’s apparent indifference to the LP’s crisis by saying, “What is happening in the Labour Party and the PDP is caused by the government, quote me anywhere.”

Obi also committed to running on the Labour Party’s platform in the 2027 election.

Obi responded, “I will still continue to run in the Labour Party,” when asked which platform he planned to run on in the 2027 elections. My affiliation is with the Labour Party.
In addition, he stated, “There was a problem in our party previously. He was President Yar’Adua. He called Prof. Maurice Iwu, the chairman of INEC, when I approached him, and he informed him that I didn’t want any issues with any parties. We have to make it right.

However, today’s issues are intentional and brought on by the system, and they affect all parties. I want to tidy up a few of these things if I have the chance.

The reason parties will work so successfully is that a system cannot function without significant resistance.

He urged Nigerians to be accountable for making sure their votes count because, despite the fact that political parties may pay agents to represent their interests, voters ultimately have the final say over whether or not the people’s ballots count.

The standard bearer for the LP urged Nigerian youths and voters not to give up since those who stand to gain from the status quo will also oppose any beneficial modifications.

Breaking: Saraki Engages PDP Stakeholders in Enugu Over Party Crisis

To reposition the party for upcoming challenges, former Senate President Bukola Saraki and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee are currently meeting behind closed doors with Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State.
Through a social media post, Saraki verified the development and disclosed that he, Governor Mbah, and important PDP Strategy Committee members are having important conversations about the party’s future.
Saraki said, “I am in Enugu State with His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, and Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo, who are both members of the PDP Strategy and Way Forward Committee.”

“We’re here to have the necessary conversations—frank, focused, and long overdue—as we work to reposition our party for the future it deserves,” he continued, highlighting the significance of these discussions.
The meeting follows assertions made by Dave Umahi that all of the South-East governors, including Mbah, were supporting President Bola Tinubu and would shortly support his 2027 reelection campaign.

Together with former Governors Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo, Saraki’s visit to Enugu demonstrates the PDP’s resolve to hold onto power in the vital South-East. As the 2027 elections get closer, the PDP is dealing with both internal and external pressures.

Otukpo Women Defy constituency Lines to Endorse Hon. Philip Agbese, Form “Okanga Sisters” Branch

In an extraordinary display of political solidarity that defies conventional constituency boundaries, women from Otukpo Local Government Area today inaugurated the third meeting of their Okanga Sisters branch, a support group dedicated to Hon. Chief Dr. Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesman of the 10th House of Representatives, despite not being part of his Enone federal constituency.
This unusual political alignment has sparked conversations about the magnetic appeal of Agbese, popularly known as Okanga, whose leadership has inspired women from a neighboring constituency to pledge unwavering loyalty.
Hon. Agbese represents the Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu (Enone) Federal Constituency, while Otukpo falls under the separate Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency. Yet, the formation of Okanga Sisters in Otukpo signals a grassroots movement driven by admiration rather than geographic obligation.
“Why would women from Otukpo rally behind a lawmaker who isn’t even their representative? The answer is simple: exceptional leadership,” declared Mrs. Blessing Otsepa, coordinator of the Otukpo Okanga Sisters. “Hon. Agbese’s impact is so profound that it resonates beyond his constituency. We see his work, we hear his voice in Abuja, and we want to be part of his vision.”
In just two years in office, Agbese has gained a reputation for:
– Legislative Excellence: Active participation in critical national debates and bills.
– Empowerment Programmes: Scholarships, skills acquisition schemes, and business grants for youths and women.
– Infrastructure Development: Road projects, healthcare center upgrades, and educational support in Enone.
These achievements have not gone unnoticed. At the meeting, some women passionately declared they would even consider relocating their voter registration to Enone just to support Agbese in future elections, this is a demonstration to his growing influence.
Political analysts suggest that this development could mark a shift in Nigerian politics, where performance, rather than mere geographic representation, determines a lawmaker’s support base.
“This is unprecedented,” said a political commentator who preferred anonymity. “For a first-term lawmaker to command such loyalty outside his constituency means he’s doing something revolutionary. It challenges the norm where politicians only focus on their immediate constituents.”
The enthusiasm at the meeting was palpable, with members chanting solidarity songs and sharing testimonies of how Agbese’s policies and support to some of them in Otukpo have inspired them.
“Who doesn’t like good things?” one member exclaimed. “If our own leaders were doing half of what Okanga is doing, we wouldn’t need to look elsewhere. But since they’re not, we’ll support a man who is actually working.”
With the Okanga Sisters gaining momentum in Otukpo, there are strong indications that similar groups could emerge in other parts of Benue and even nationally. If this trend continues, Agbese may well be on his way to becoming one of Nigeria’s most influential grassroots-backed lawmakers.
The Otukpo women’s bold endorsement of Hon. Philip Agbese sends a powerful message: exceptional leadership knows no boundaries. In a political environment often marred by ethnic and regional divisions, the Okanga Sisters phenomenon attests that when leaders deliver, support will follow regardless of constituency lines.
As the women vowed to “follow Okanga all the way,” one thing is clear: Agbese’s brand of leadership is rewriting the rules of political engagement in Nigeria.

Lagos Taskforce Conducts Midnight Operation, Arrests 62 Suspects

0

In a midnight enforcement operation on Friday, members of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Taskforce arrested 62 people in key areas of Lagos Island.

Targeting locations identified as emerging crime hotspots, the coordinated crackdown started at around 1:30 am and focused on Victoria Island, Falomo, the Eko Hotel axis, Osborne, and surrounding streets.

Officials say that criminal activity and unlawful occupation have increased in certain areas, necessitating immediate action.

The operation was characterized by the Lagos State Government as a part of a stepped-up effort to clean up the city and handle security issues related to the actions of what it called “undesirable elements.”

Via his verified X (formerly Twitter) profile, Environment and Water Resources Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab verified the enforcement action and the ensuing arrests.

Wahab said, “On Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 01:30 a.m., members of the Environmental Taskforce team set out and began their ongoing clean-up enforcement operation on the Island as part of the agency’s clean-up enforcement operation to rid the State of criminal elements.”

He also revealed that 62 suspects in all—59 men and 3 women—were captured during the sweep, and that the enforcement action contributed to the restoration of order in all impacted regions.

“The operation’s visited areas include Victoria Island, Falomo, the Eko Hotel, Osborne, and other nearby streets where some undesirable elements were observed,” Wahab said. “Everywhere sanity was restored.”

The Commissioner promised that those who had been arrested will be prosecuted in line with the law.

“All of the suspects will face the appropriate charges in court,” he declared.

‘No Opposition from Northerners, Tinubu Has Their Support in 2027’ – Shagari

0

Muktar Shagari, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, has refuted claims that Northerners will oppose President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
According to reports, while answering questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Shagari stated that the North will provide Tinubu with all of the assistance he requires to win the 2027 elections.
According to him, Tinubu has been able to carry out his campaign pledges and plans for Nigerians, and he believes that the President requires a second term.

Shagari maintained that Tinubu is doing well, particularly in security, and that Northerners have nothing against him.

He stated, “We in the APC have complete faith in President Bola Tinubu’s abilities to lead this country efficiently. When he became office, many individuals expressed concern about the country’s economy and the need for extreme measures. The President is doing everything he can to improve our country, and the results show that the country is slowly moving forward, and I believe we will get there.

“So that President Tinubu can implement the initiatives he promised Nigerians, he needs a second term, and we in the APC trust in him and feel he has the competence and capability to do so.

“What we can do is provide him moral and political support while ensuring that no one distracts him by contesting against him. So what the party accomplished yesterday at the North-West and national levels is totally correct and constitutional, and we will provide him with all of the support he requires to win this election.

“And I want to point out that there are many who say, “Oh no, Nigerians, northerners, and so on will not vote for Trump.” We in the north have no animosity toward President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He’s doing quite well in the field of security. I can tell that security is getting better. And he is doing a lot of stuff. So, as far as I’m concerned, and as far as the rest of the APC is concerned, we will support Tinubu, and I am convinced that he will win the election in 2027.

‘You Lack Credibility’ – Sunny-Goli Hits Back at Lawal

0

To criticize President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Rome, Babachir Lawal lacked credibility, according to Israel Sunny-Goli, a former member of the House of Representatives.
Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, reportedly called Tinubu’s trip to the Vatican for Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration last Sunday an affront to Nigerian Christians.
According to the former SGF, Nigeria’s mission to the Vatican should have been led by a Christian vice president rather than a Muslim.

He went on to say that Tinubu’s trip to the Vatican confirmed that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was a slight to the Christian community in Nigeria.

Lawal had no moral authority to criticize the President, Sunny-Goli said in a statement on Friday.
Tinubu’s visit to the Vatican, according to the lawmaker who represented the Brass/Nembe constituency in the House, demonstrated religious peace in the nation.

Lawal attacked the President in an attempt to resurrect his waning political significance, he noted.

“Tinubu’s administration continues to prioritize unity, tolerance, and coexistence, reaffirming the imperative of a harmonious Nigeria,” he said in his statement.

Nothing better demonstrates his commitment to religious tolerance than his meeting with Pope Leo XIV during the investiture of the Holy Father at the Vatican.

The fact that Mr. Babachir Lawal has opted to present himself as a moral authority rather than considering his term and previous controversies is disappointing.

His prior termination as SGF as a result of the notorious grass-cutting contract scam is a well-recorded incident that calls into doubt his ability to fairly judge others.

Moreover, his demonstration of religious intolerance in an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, illustrates his lack of moral authority to criticize the president’s conduct.

In his constituency in particular, his political impact is still very small. This must explain his desperate search for political significance, which he pursues like a man drowning and clinging to anything that will save him.

“Nigeria must maintain unity and respect for one another at this pivotal moment. President Tinubu is steadfast in his commitment to inclusivity, and his vision of a peaceful and forward-thinking country will not be undermined by any amount of improper criticism.

‘Key IPOB Figures Neutralized, Sit-at-Home Now Ineffective’ – Ribadu

According to National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, the Monday sit-at-home order has lost its effectiveness as important members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) have been apprehended and neutralized.
Ribadu reportedly disclosed this on Thursday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national conference while giving a presentation on the security accomplishments of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) secessionist agitations in the south-east, tribal/herder-farmer conflicts in the north-central region, Boko Haram in the northeast, and armed banditry in the northwest are the five major security crises that Ribadu claims Tinubu’s administration inherited.
Security agencies have been able to stop the widespread murders, kidnappings, and destruction committed by criminal elements around the nation by working together, according to the NSA.

With more than 11,000 weapons collected and destroyed, the NSA highlighted the accomplishments, stating that over 13,543 Boko Haram fighters had been neutralized in the previous two years.

124,408 Boko Haram fighters and their families have turned themselves in to the military, he continued, and attacks on security personnel have drastically decreased since Tinubu’s administration began.

“The sit-at-home orders are becoming increasingly ineffective in the southeast, which is a welcome development,” he said.

“Key ESN/IPOB figures were neutralized or captured. Numerous police posts as well as more than 50 police stations have been restored.

“Security forces were attacked much less frequently. Economic and social activity is becoming more regular.

“A decrease in mass abductions and the release of 11,250 hostages in the northwest marked a turning point in the war against banditry.

“Determining strikes to powerful warlords Boderi, Dangote, Isuhu Yellow, Damuna, Halilu Sububu, Ali Kachalla, and others were removed.

Baba-Ahmed Presses NASS, FG to Explain N6 Trillion in 2025 Budget

0

President Bola Tinubu’s former Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has called for an explanation of the ₦6.93 trillion that was purportedly padded into the 2025 budget.
A non-governmental civic and transparency organization called BudgIT Nigeria was reported to have claimed that 11,122 projects totaling ₦6.93 trillion were added to the 2025 budget by the 10th National Assembly (NASS).
According to BudgIT, analysis revealed that 238 projects totaling more than ₦5 billion each, with a total value of ₦2 trillion, were added with little to no explanation.

BudgIT claims that 1,119 projects ranging between ₦500 million and ₦1 billion, and 984 projects totaling ₦1.71 trillion, were arbitrarily added.

A closer examination revealed that 1,972 projects totaling ₦444.04 billion were allocated to senatorial districts while 3,573 projects totaling ₦653.19 billion were allocated directly to federal constituencies, according to the report released on Tuesday.
Baba-Ahmed remarked that NASS and the Presidency must explain to Nigerians how trillions were added to the budget in response to BudgIT’s findings.

Additionally, if the federal government believes that BudgIT’s report was fraudulent, he suggested that it sue the latter.

If BudgIT’s claims of trillions being added to the 2025 budget is untrue, then NSS and the Presidency ought to sue it. The other option is to acknowledge the validity of the published results. Regardless, the government ought to provide Nigerians with an explanation,” he said on his 𝕏 Twitter on Thursday.

Coalition: Okonkwo and Lawal Strategize, Call on Nigerians to Oppose APC

0

Nigerians are being urged to join the alliance against the All Progressives Congress (APC) by Kenneth Okonkwo, the former spokesperson for Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed’s Presidential Campaign Organization.
According to reports, the lawmaker who formerly worked in Nollywood stated that the only way to defeat President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 election would be for the opposition to unite.
According to the former chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Tinubu cannot be overthrown in 2027 by either the LP or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) without a cooperation.

The APC is a group of professional criminals out to ruining the country, according to Okonkwo.

In 2023, the opposition made the error of splitting up. For them to win the 2027 presidential election, they must unite. He declared, “The APC is an Association of Professional Criminals.”
On Thursday, following his visit to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal in Abuja, he made the call on his 𝕏 account.

He revealed that he focused on the coalition move during his conversation with Lawal.

He called on Nigerians to do their part to protect the country from the APC’s mismanagement.

The coalition is still in talks. conversation that was constructive with Babachir Lawal, one of the Coalition’s leaders. All of us have a responsibility to create a great Nigeria. In a place where God has blessed us, we have no excuse to keep suffering. Vote out this misguided All Progressives Congress (APC) to contribute your share to the march towards a great Nigeria. As we help ourselves, may God help us,” he wrote.

‘The Indices Cannot Lie’ – Yahaya Bello Addresses 2027 Presidential Ambition Against Tinubu

0

Yahaya Bello, Kogi State’s immediate former governor, has denied rumors that he would run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
It states that in a statement released on Friday, Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, called the campaign poster in circulation “false, misleading, and the work of mischief makers who wanted to bring down the former Governor at all costs.”
Reiterating his unwavering devotion to Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, Yahaya Bello reiterated that he had no aspirations to become president.

He asserts that in spite of the global difficulties, the President has performed remarkably well for Nigeria.

“Our attention has been drawn to another senseless post by mischief makers, who have no job other than to fabricate falsehood and disseminate it to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians,” the message says in part.

“In their “bring him down at all means” mission against His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the immediate former governor of Kogi State, they have made several attempts but have consistently failed miserably.

This is not the first time that critics and fellow travelers have spread outright lies to incite the former governor to oppose our president, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, the recent trend of publishing a 2022 surge and implying that it is simply taking place suggests nothing but madness.

Nigerians should be cautious of naive bloggers who fabricate things without thinking in order to appease their equally naive paymasters.

“They neglected the 2022 dates that were prominently displayed on the banners in their last-ditch effort to fabricate a crisis where none exists. However, they expect rational people to not perceive this as the product of irate critics.

We wish to emphasize that our Principal, His Excellency former Governor Yahaya Bello, remains steadfast in his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, even if we firmly declare that he has no presidential aspirations for that year.

The indexes are not deceiving. Despite international difficulties, the President and his team have performed remarkably well for the nation. He merits the support of well-meaning Nigerians.

“Nigerians should ignore the playful post suggesting a new presidential support rally as it is—a thoughtless post from a dimwitted, bewildered mind.”
