0

The semi-finals will be held on Friday, December 3rd, and the final will be held on Sunday, December 5th.

The BOS Youth Cup final will be held on Sunday, December 5 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, following weeks of grassroots football activities among youths in Lagos State.

The BOS Youth Cup, a football competition for youths under 21 years old from all Lagos State councils, is part of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s efforts to reduce restlessness and promote sports and youth development in the state.

The first edition of the BOS Youth Cup, which began in October, was organized by the BOS Academy and the office of the Lagos State Governor’s Senior Special Assistant (Sports), Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as SSAs from related youth and social development ministries.

Over 20 matches have been played so far across the State by the 20 teams, which were divided into five groups, according to Mr Tayo Sanyaolu, a member of the BOS Youth Cup Protocol and Logistic Committee.

He stated that the team with the most points in each group would advance to the quarter-finals, and that the three best losers would be chosen to join the five group leaders in the quarter-finals, making the total number of teams in the quarter-finals eight.

The tournament’s quarter-final matches will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, and the semi-finals will be held on Friday, December 3 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

The BOS Youth Cup screening exercise, which took place across 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in 20 centers to select players and teams for the football tournament, drew over 5,000 young people.

Trials of eligible players with LASSRA cards and the shortlisting of 23 players for the BOS Youth Cup, including three goalkeepers and 20 outfield players, took place at the local government/local council development area (LCDA) level to select All-Star Players for the 20 LGAs competing in the competition.

Mr Anthony Adeboye, the Lead of the Technical Committee of the BOS Youth Cup, recently spoke to journalists about the competition, saying that the football tournament has been well received by the target youths, and that the turnout of young people for the competition at every location is encouraging.

He described the BOS Youth Cup as one of the events for grassroots football development, noting that professionals are not permitted to participate in the tournament, which is only open to local government residents.

Adeboye also revealed that some scouting agencies and corporate organizations from both within and outside Nigeria are involved in the BOS Youth Cup tournament for football development, empowerment, and academic scholarships for players competing in the tournament to bring glory to themselves, their families, local governments, and Lagos State.

Mustapha Baba, a 26-year-old unemployed man, was remanded in custody by the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday for defiling a four-year-old girl.

The defendant was remanded in Kirikri prison custody by Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not accept the defendant’s plea.

Ms Kubeinje, on the other hand, told the cops to send the case file to the state’s director of public prosecutions (DPP) for review.

She postponed the case until January 25, 2022, to await the advice of the DPP.

Mr Baba, a resident of Ayobo, Lagos, is facing defilement charges.

He claimed the defendant had improper knowledge of the minor.

“The defendant enticed the young lady into his room and engaged in sexual activity with her.” “When the girl’s mother realized her daughter had been defiled, she confronted her, and the girl told her what the defendant had done to her,” the prosecutor explained. “The case was reported to the police station, and the defendant was arrested.”

Professor Banji Akintoye, a separatist leader, has resigned as Chairman of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS).

The Yoruba bloc is represented by Prof. Akintoye’s Ilana Omo Oodua, the Lower Niger Congress by the South East and South South, and the Middle-Belt Rennaissance Movement by the Middle-Belt Rennaissance Movement by the Middle-Belt Rennaissance Movement by the Middle-Belt Rennaissance Movement by the Middle-Belt Rennaissance Movement by the Middle

According to a statement obtained by Akintoye and 44 other leaders on Tuesday, it is critical for the Yoruba bloc to leave the alliance in order to preserve the alliance’s integrity.

“In light of the current development in the Yoruba Self-Determination struggle, particularly in Ilana Omo Oodua, it has become very necessary for the Yoruba people to dissociate themselves from the Alliance known as NINAS with immediate effect,” the statement reads in part.

“It is our considered opinion that some of those with whom we align in NINAS do not want the kind of self-determination that we, the Yoruba people, desire.”

“As a result, we, the leadership of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, wish to inform the general public that the Yoruba Bloc, led by Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, has withdrawn from the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination with immediate effect in order to protect the integrity and honor of our Self-Determination agitation.”

“We thank Mr. Tony Nnadi, the Leader of the LNC, for his contributions to the NINAS struggle since its inception. The LNC, on the other hand, is no longer working in tandem with our goal in Ilana Omo Oodua, as most people in the Yoruba Self-Determination struggle have realized.

“As a result of this development, Professor Adebanji Stephen Akintoye’s prestigious leadership of NINAS as Chairman, which he has provided since its inception, will come to an end on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021.”

“Furthermore, with immediate effect, Ilana Omo Oodua withdraws its membership from NINAS.” This statement is a notice to all Yoruba people worldwide who believe in the agitation for Yoruba Nation Self-Determination at home and abroad to comply.

“However, we are pleased to inform you that a more productive Wide-Alliance, to be known as the South and Middle-Belt People’s Sovereign Movement, will be officially inaugurated following the completion of ongoing consultations with like-minded individuals across the South and Middle-Belt Regions.”

Ballon d’Or 20 21: Messi Wins Seventh award

0

Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina has won the Ballon d’Or – the honor given to the finest footballer of the year – for a record seventh time.

Messi, 34, helped Argentina win the Copa America for the first time, and he has 40 goals in 2021, including 28 for Barcelona, four for PSG, and eight for Argentina.

While the Argentine great, Messi, had reason to celebrate a feat that will take generations to equal, Cristiano Ronaldo, his main rival, issued a furious statement a few hours before the results were released, blasting claims from Ballon d’Or chief Pascal Ferre that his career ambition was to finish with more awards than his rival Lionel Messi, who finished sixth in the rankings.

The Manchester United star sent out a lengthy retort to comments made by Ferre to the New York Times that he always had Messi in his sights during their bitter rivalry for the year gong. Ronaldo was absent from yesterday night’s awards ceremony – run by publication France Football – and the Manchester United star sent out a lengthy retort to comments made by Ferre to the New York Times that he always had Messi in his sights amid their bitter rivalry for the year gong.

After missing out on a spot in the top five, he was defeated by the Argentine. He had edged out Gigi Donnarumma, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin de Bruyne, and Mo Salah for the title, but he didn’t receive enough votes to take home his sixth.

“Ronaldo has only one desire, and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Or than Messi, as he told me,” Ferre stated.

Ferre had used his name to promote his name, his publication, and the ceremony, according to the player, who insists that he wins for himself and his clubs, and that his career aims are to make an effect on the game, win as many trophies as possible, and set an example for young players.

“Today’s result explains Pascal Ferre’s words last week,” he said on Instagram, “when he stated that I confided in him that my only ambition was to conclude my career with more Golden Balls than Lionel Messi.”

Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich and Poland came in second, Jorginho of Chelsea and Italy came in third, and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid came in fourth.

The Ballon d’Or is voted on by 180 journalists from around the world, yet due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no award in 2020.

From 2008 until 2019, the award was won by either Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo (five times), with the exception of 2018, when it was won by Croatia midfielder Luka Modric.

Messi had already won the award more times than any other player, with victories in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, and now 2019.

Lewandowski received the ‘Striker of the Year’ award, a new title revealed just hours before the ceremony. He scored 53 goals in all competitions for Bayern in 2021.

Nigeria’s population projection scary, needs urgent control, says FG

0

According to the Federal Government, Nigeria’s population projections are frightening, necessitating the immediate implementation of control measures to keep the country’s population increase under control.

This was said by Mr Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), during a book launch on Monday in Abuja.

“A Sociology for Medical Practice,” written by Dr. Manassah Jatau, a retired Deputy Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, is the title of the book.

“In one or two decades, Nigeria would overtake China and India as the world’s third most populated country,” Mustapha said.

“It is critical that we begin to plan for this rise as soon as possible.”

“Right now, we’re dealing with the youth population, and we haven’t been able to address some of the country’s problems.”

The SGF praised the author for his thorough understanding of leadership challenges in deciding the efficacy and efficiency of companies, particularly in terms of physical and financial prosperity, as reflected in the book.

Mustapha also underlined the importance of developing Nigeria’s traditional medicine, claiming that doing so would create jobs, improve the country’s pharmaceutical products, and boost the economy.

“There is also a need for traditional medicine to be introduced.” It will minimize the number of Nigerians who travel to foreign nations for medical care, according to the SGF.

Mr Adewale Adeniyi, Assistant Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), praised Jatau for a job well done earlier in his welcome message, emphasizing the importance of health and environmental issues.

The departed Customs head, according to Adeniyi, left everlasting footprints in the service of the NCS that are worthy of emulation, and the author has successfully married sociology and medicine.

Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, who evaluated the book, stated it has both medical and sociological information.

“Man is a social being, and his health is influenced by multiple social variables, and the causes of most diseases lie deep in the social factors,” Jatau said in his remarks.

He explained that the book would aid in the recognition of diseases and illnesses, as well as the prevention of their occurrence, because it stresses healthy living circumstances in the human population and eliminates health threats.

As a result, Jatau urged the government, academics, medical practitioners, and the general public to examine the book critically and utilize it as a starting point for their conversations and research.

December 1 Covid-19 Vaccination Mandatory For Civil Servants’ Sacrosanct -FG

The Nigerian government has stated that the vaccination deadline for civil personnel across the Federation will not be extended.

This was said by Dr Shu’aib Faisal, Executive Director of the National Primary Health-care Development Agency, NPHCDA, at a national media briefing in Abuja, Nigeria.

Before being admitted into their offices, he stated, all Federal Civil servants would be required to provide proof of having vaccinated against COVID-19, or a negative PCR test obtained within 72 hours, beginning December 1, 2021.

“To make COVID-19 vaccines more accessible to government personnel, we’ve started office-to-office immunization in Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies” (MDAs). This simply implies that employees who have not yet been vaccinated will be able to register and get vaccinated at a vaccination location near their workplace. This will eliminate the excuse of needing to leave their place of business to go to a faraway immunization site.

“We would also want to highlight that civil officials will be randomly selected from time to time to check or assess their COVID-19 antibody title in order to discover those who may have illegally obtained vaccination cards without vaccination.” Anyone who is found to have illegally gotten a vaccination card without having been vaccinated will be turned over to the authorities. The immunizations are free and can be obtained at locations near you,” he stated.

“We’ve also engaged and are working with Nigerian military, police, and paramilitary agencies to construct mass vaccination centers in their various locations across the country.” We’ll also help with the deployment of our immunization teams to all of these institutions’ designated areas,” he added.

COVID-19: Employees of the federal government must be vaccinated before December 1st.

According to Dr. Shu’aib, the NPHCDA will undertake a widespread vaccination campaign in refugee and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps around the country in partnership with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.

“This is to ensure that all refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as their families, are adequately safeguarded, and that the camps are livable.” This is the kind of cooperation we hope to see from other MDAs. As a result, we strongly encourage all MDAs to collaborate with us in order to expedite the immunization of their people. This is especially important now that the Omicron variation of COVID-19 has emerged, which is a more virulent strain of COVID-19 that is likely to cause more severe sickness.

“The coronavirus has a chance to change after every COVID-19 infection.” Vaccination thus aids in the prevention of variations. We’d also like to dispel the idea that if you’ve had COVID-19 sickness and recovered, you’re immune and don’t need to get vaccinated. This is FALSE, as studies show that if you’ve had COVID-19 before and haven’t been vaccinated, your chances of getting infected again are more than twice as great as those who have been infected and have been vaccinated.

“This is a rallying cry for individuals who have yet to obtain COVID-19 vaccines to hurry up and take advantage of our mass immunization effort.” Those who have already received their first dose should make every effort to get their second dose on time, according to Dr Shu’aib.

Currently, over six million Nigerians have gotten the first dose of the vaccination, with over three million having received the entire vaccine.

Taraba Assembly to sanction MDAs that fail to defend 2022 budget estimates

Joseph Albasu Kunini, Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, has issued a harsh warning to any ministry, department, or agency that fails to defend its 2022 budget projections before the deadline will suffer grave consequences.

The Speaker, who issued the warning while declaring open the defense of the 2022 budget estimates on the House floor, advised MDAs to take budget defense seriously.

He stated that budget defense by MDAs should be viewed as a constitutional obligation rather than an annual ritual.

“As a financial expert, I want to emphasize that the executive’s presentation of an appropriation bill, as well as the Legislature’s consideration and passage of the bill, is more than an annual ritual; it is a constitutional requirement and commitment of every government, federal, state, and local, to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.”

“Budget should not be considered as just a set of numbers,” he stated, “but as an expression of every government’s ambitions and goals for its citizens.”

“However, let me quickly warn that any ministry, department, or agency that fails to appear or delays in presenting its budget defense before the relevant standing committees will be severely sanctioned, because this Honourable House will not tolerate any procrastination or default in the MDAs’ budget defense.”

He stated that the house will not abdicate its constitutional responsibilities, adding that it will ensure that the 2022 budget is fully implemented and that its monitoring responsibility is carried out.

Abe appeals to Nigerians to Support Passage of Electoral Act

0

Senator Magnus Abe, a former member of the National Assembly representing the Rivers South East Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to support the passage of the Electoral Act by members of the National Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s signing of the Electoral Act, according to the former senator, will put an end to all power grabs and return authority to the people.

Abe made the announcement during a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Mene Kadilo Kabari, at Barako in Rivers State’s Gokana Local Government Area.

He emphasized that the law requiring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor direct primaries will lower the cost of holding elections in Nigeria.

“Elections are not expensive; what has made elections expensive in our country is the behavior of people who have wrecked the electoral process.”

“If Mr. President signs this electoral Act, Nigeria would have a new beginning and new opportunity for Nigerians to realize the rewards of democracy because there will no longer be any shortcuts to power.”

He denounced the behavior of key players who should be architects of long-term democracy but are instead responsible for its chaotic and costly implementation.

“In our country today, elections are expensive because all those who should participate in the process, all those who are obligated to support the process, are fighting against it.”

“Elections are often a clerical job. If we allow them to work, all you need is a polling clerk, presiding officer, and party operatives to run an election that will generate results that will be impossible to challenge in court.

“However, when people who should be participating in the process are the ones who hire buses, arrange thuggery, and send in the police and soldiers, the election process becomes expensive, complicated, and contentious.”

Abe, on the other hand, argued that a legitimate electoral process in Nigeria would change politicians’ attitudes.

“Politicians will behave differently in an election if they know their fate is based on the people’s choice,” he remarked. Direct primaries monitored by INEC are the way to go.”

When armed robbers invaded an old generation bank in Aramoko-Ekiti, they killed a police officer and a special marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

After work had ended, the robbers stormed the bank via Igede-Ado-Ekiti Road, according to a source.

The armed thieves smashed out the main door to the banking hall with explosives thought to be dynamite, according to the source.

He went on to say that the gun-wielding thieves had shot a police officer on duty before blowing up the front door.

“The Special Marshall in his own vehicle was equally unlucky, as he ran into the armed robbers’ barricade, which was erected to deny entry to the location.” “He was shot and killed as he approached,” the person said. “The dynamite’s effect threw the town into chaos, as residences and shops in the neighborhood were destroyed.”

After an almost 30-minute theft, the crooks made their getaway with their booty along the freshly constructed Erijiyan-Ikogosi route.

ASP Two people were murdered in the incident, according to Sunday Abutu, the police spokesman in Ekiti.

“It was a robbery attempt, but they were thwarted.” Mr Abutu revealed, “Our guys and officers of the Rapid Response Squad gave them a furious chase and retrieved two vehicles they utilized for the operation.” “They killed a police officer outside the bank, and an FRSC special marshall was shot at a distance from the bank.” The cops have swung into action, and we’re going to make sure we get to the bottom of this.”
