On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari sent messages of congratulations to two APC chieftains, Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, and Alhaji Nasiru Haladu Danu, a reputable businessman, on the Daura Emirate Council conferring chieftaincy titles on them tomorrow, Saturday.

The bestowing of the title of “Dan Amana” (the trusted one) on Amaechi, according to Buhari, is a clear commitment to the harmonious relationship between the country’s diverse cultures.

Danu is turbaned as Daura’s Tafida Babba.

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), made the announcement in a statement.

A middle-aged woman was apprehended by police while attempting to kidnap Bashir Jamilu, a 5-year-old nursery 2 pupil at Ulumuddin Primary School in Kano state.
Aisha Salisu Koki, the child’s mother, stated that her son left for school around 8:30 a.m. on February 1st.

She claimed he met a woman on the way who promised to buy him meat, noodles, and milk. The boy, on the other hand, chose not to listen to her and began crying.

“Along ‘lungun barebari,’ he fell to the ground, and she dragged him,” she said. He asked to be left alone near the school, but she refused, saying she would bring him back. That’s when people started to realize what was going on.

“When she was interrogated, she claimed he was her son, and people began abusing her because they suspected the child wasn’t hers.

“As soon as I arrived, I saw her dragging the child with other people who claimed he was her child.” They then portrayed her as his mother to me.

“When she (the suspect) saw me, she started hitting me and asked if I was the one who gave birth to him.” My son was still crying and calling me ‘Umma ta’ over and over (my mummy).

“I took him into the school, and some police officers took her from the Vigilante people to the Jakara police station.”

“I applaud the Vigilante team’s efforts because they were the ones who saw her with the child and quickly identified the demon within her.”

Nasiru Ayuba Yusuf, the commander of the Koki Vigilante group, who was the first to see the woman with the boy, said he assumed she was his mother dragging him to school.

“Regardless,” he said, “I told our people to keep an eye on it.” They called me back not long after to tell me she was a kidnapper.”

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the incident but said details were limited.

Chief Ernest Shonekan, the former Head of Interim Government, is being laid to rest at the Cathedral Church Of Christ, Marina, Lagos.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is in charge of the Federal Government delegation.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, the Former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, are among those in attendance.

Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor of Ogun State, is also in attendance.

The Lagos State government announced a 13-hour road closure leading to Marina, where the funeral is being held.

Chief Shonekan, who led the Interim National Government from August to November 1993, passed away on January 11, 2022, at the age of 86.

Born in Lagos on May 9, 1936, into the family of a civil servant from Abeokuta. Ernest Shonekan went to Igbobi College and CMS Grammar School.

He went on to Harvard Business School after receiving a law degree from the University of London and being called to the bar.

In 1964, Shonekan joined the UAC. He worked his way up through the company’s ranks and was eventually promoted to assistant legal adviser. At the age of 40, he became a deputy adviser and was elected to the board of directors.

General Babangida appointed Shonekan as the head of the transitional council and Head of Government on January 2, 1993.

In 1994, he founded the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, a think-tank and advocacy group for private-sector-led economic development in Nigeria.

Shonekan has risen to prominence as an elder statesman since then.

After Queen Elizabeth II and General Yakubu Gowon, he was the third oldest surviving Nigerian Head of State at the time of his death.
