Muslim-Muslim ticket: Governor Okowa laments four-year shutdown of Aso Rock Chapel

Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, expressed regret that the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim ticket would force the chapel in Aso Rock to remain closed for four years (APC).

Okowa pleaded for people to truly pray and to encourage the church of Christ to keep praying during a meeting with members of the Isoko Church Leaders Council on Friday at God’s Fountain of Life Mission in Oleh, the state’s Isoko South local government area.

“I think that now is the right time for us to live in the light of God so that He can carry out His will in our state and throughout Nigeria. Instead of mourning, now is the time for us to stand tall in faith. The church needs to be discerning, watchful, and prayerful.
The governor prayed for God to preserve the chapel at Government House in Asaba and added that the church should keep praying for the state and country.

In response to the results of the elections last Saturday, Okowa claimed that the process had been tainted and that the outcome was not in accordance with God’s will.

The church of Christ prayed against the circumstance in which we have just found ourselves because we foresaw the manipulation of the election coming, according to Okowa.

The governor urged religious leaders and Deltans to support Sheriff Oborevwori, the PDP’s candidate for governor, in the March 11 general election while also encouraging them to support all of the PDP’s candidates for the Delta State House of Assembly in the various constituencies throughout the state.

Okowa said Sheriff Oborevwori was a God-fearing man and that he had the necessary experience to spur more development in the state. He also thanked the forum participants for the chance to speak with them.

“I’ve expressed similar concerns related to other aspects of our relationship with the government of Nigeria,” she said. “I’ve heard nothing in response.” It is my fear that this haste to pass judgment will impede our capacity to be an effective partner to all Nigerians, which is especially concerning in light of the Nigerian people’s persistent desire for democracy.

In light of the fact that state-level elections are scheduled to take place in Nigeria in just a few days (on March 11), it is important that the United States be more concerned with supporting the people of Nigeria and their democratic aspirations than it is with embracing the government of Nigeria.

After the Supreme Court ordered that obsolete N200, N500, and N1,000 notes continue to be accepted as payment until December 31, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) decided to maintain radio silence on the matter.

“The CBN is a law abiding organization that operates as an extension of the Executive arm of government,” said the official of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) who agreed to speak to The Nation regarding the matter.

This indicates that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may have delegated to the Federal Government the responsibility of speaking on the issue of the redesign of the naira.

When the official was asked if the order from the Supreme Court would halt the cashless policy of the CBN, the official responded by saying “that is unlikely to happen since the policy has been in operation since 2012.”
Professor Uche Uwaleke of Nasarawa State University issued some advice to the Central Bank of Nigeria in response to the order issued by the Supreme Court. He advised the CBN to “comply with the ruling since it has come from the final court in the land.”

Professor demands rewriting of Nigerian Constitution

The Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution should be rewritten in straightforward English, according to Professor John Oluwole Akintayo of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ibadan in Ibadan, South-West Nigeria.

The issue of justice permeates all forms of adjudication, but because of its propensity to have a multiplier effect, Professor Akintayo said he emphasizes its significance in constitutional adjudication. He stated that since the courts are required to administer impartial justice to all parties involved in legal disputes, whether they are private citizens, government officials, or institutions, it is crucial that the proper infrastructure be put in place to ensure that impartial justice is administered in these proceedings.

Professor Akintayo added that the legislature must be motivated by the spirit of the constitution in order to advance justice by passing legislation that will enhance the welfare of common people and other marginalized groups in society.

He argued that ignoring existential issues could drive people to the brink, at which point violent change might be unavoidable.

Judges and attorneys, who are the custodians and dispensers of justice, must be aware of their enormous obligations to uphold, defend, and uphold the law as well as their sacred duty to always dress the law in justice, according to Akintayo.

Professor Akintayo contends that in order to ensure that elected officials and other public servants uphold the law, citizens must keep an eye on them.

Police detectives from the Egbeda Police Division in Rivers State’s Emohua Local Government Area have detained James, an alleged repentant cultist, in connection with the deaths of two people in the Ubimini Community over the weekend.

Ruth Osage, a pregnant woman, and Mark Orduize, a member of a local vigilante group, died as a result of the crisis that broke out in the Ubimini community during the Presidential and National Assembly elections. James, also known as “Cross and Die,” is accused of being the crisis’ mastermind.

Ikechukwu Wordu, the president of the Ubimini Youth Council, confirmed the development.
He claimed that James, a repentant cultist, returned to his previous lifestyle and was apprehended as a result of reliable information.

At the moment, he is being held at the Egbeda Police Division.

Commission to construct 160 housing units in Niger State

The 160-unit Housing Resettlement Scheme will be built by the Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission (HYPADEC) in the communities of Muregi and Ketso in Niger State, North-Central Nigeria.

According to the report, the Housing Resettlement Scheme will be funded by the commission and will be available in all six HYPPADEC states.

The governor recalled the impact of the Rivers Kaduna and Niger on various communities and said the resettlement project is long overdue. He expressed his hope that the project would be finished in accordance with the contract.

The Governor added that the Niger state government and HYPPADEC would collaborate on the construction of basic infrastructure, such as roads.

Each housing unit will take up half of the plot size allotted to it in order to accommodate future expansions, and construction of the housing units is expected to cost about N500 million.

Under the strict supervision of the Commission’s Directorate of Engineering and Technical Services, the entire project must be completed using sustainable and energy-efficient building materials.

The first phase will be finished and put into service before the current administration, according to the managing director of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission.
