We can’t fold our hands, APC won’t rob us again – Ebonyi PDP

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State chapter have issued a warning, stating that they will not remain silent and allow the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to allegedly steal their mandate once more.

The Party demanded that the country’s presidential and national assembly elections be canceled, claiming that they had been fraudulently rigged and marred by a significant number of irregularities, killings, and other violations.

They claimed that thugs in Izzi LGA killed no less than three people, among them a corper who took part in the election as an INEC ad hoc staff member.

In an interview with reporters in the Ebonyi state capital of Abakaliki, the Party leadership announced this through Mr. Austin Edeze, the director general of Anyichuk’s campaign council.

In an effort to scuttle the upcoming governorship election, Edeze claimed that weapons are being distributed to thugs.

Everything was rigged, he claimed, starting with the results announcement. Moreover, the INEC’s cooperation was necessary for any rigging to occur. To ensure there is justice, we will take all appropriate legal action. The results should be thrown out, as we demand.

Of course we’re going to win the election again; we won it last Saturday. We’ll demonstrate that we prevailed in the most recent election. We will put an end to these excesses and refuse to give up and let the previous election’s results repeat themselves.

“Izzi LGA is at the height of impunity. Whenever the chairman of an LGA has the opportunity to address the traditional leaders, he or she should make it clear that any opposition to the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Nwifuru, should be met with retribution. The advice is to stay home and cast your ballots if you are unable to support the APC; if you do go to the polls, you should be put down. This should not be taken lightly by the law enforcement organizations.

In a prompt response, Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), refuted the claim and emphasized that the Party had no intention of taking any action that would cast doubt on the state’s governorship election.

“How is it possible that someone claims that the state government bought an AK-47 for each of the 171 wards in the state? To purchase such weapons would cost the federal government a significant sum of money; state governments would be better off.

“Are we going to war or are we building a military barrack to get these weapons? Always leveling such serious accusations are those who are intimidated by the competition. PDP claims that because they are already losing, this is the case. US Ambassador: Presidential election failed to meet Nigerians’ expectations

Election-related controversy and conflict are nothing new in the United States. Even though ending an election in a court can be unsatisfying, in a constitutional democracy governed by the rule of law, that is where electoral disputes may properly come to a resolution.

It is evident that the February 25 electoral process as a whole fell short of the expectations of Nigerians. In just the two plus decades since the return to democracy, Nigeria has accomplished much, as I stated numerous times prior to the elections, and a gradual improvement in the caliber of its elections in that time constitutes one of those accomplishments.
The use of new technology to make the process of reporting results more transparent is one way that Nigerians want this positive trend to continue, Leonard said.
She reaffirmed the need for INEC to address issues as soon as possible before the March 11 gubernatorial elections and to conduct a wider investigation into the issues that arose during the previous elections and what could be done to address them.

The US ambassador emphasized that INEC should inform Nigerian citizens about the actions it is taking in all circumstances.

According to Leonard, the winning candidate in 20 out of the 50 states represented a party other than the one of the governors who was already in office.
She claimed that the governors of 12 of these states are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and that the top three candidates each won 12 states based on these preliminary results, marking the first time that all four presidential candidates won at least one state.

Seven sitting governors who were running for the National Assembly lost their bids, according to Leonard, who claimed that even though the results aren’t in yet, the US already knows that changes are coming.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been instructed to continue accepting the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes from Nigerians, according to a request made yesterday by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP). President Muhammadu Buhari was also urged to provide specifics regarding the steps he was taking to immediately comply with the Supreme Court’s decision.

Additionally, SERAP urged the president to publicly direct the CBN to swiftly and fully implement the Supreme Court ruling ordering an end to the cash withdrawal restrictions imposed by banks because such restrictions infringe upon the freedom of citizens to use their property at will.

SERAP urged him to reveal the steps he was taking to order the CBN to immediately resume issuing the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directive.
The organization SERAP stated in a letter dated March 4, 2023 and signed by its deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare that there was a compelling public interest in knowing the specifics of the steps the government and the CBN were taking to effectively and satisfactorily comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling.

The letter stated, in part: “We would appreciate it if the requested details and suggested actions were carried out within seven days of the receipt and/or publication of this letter. ”

By that time, if we have not heard from you, SERAP will take all necessary legal action to force your government to comply with our demands. Citizens’ rights have been violated as a result of your government implementing the CBN policy on the redesign of the national currency.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the winner of the February 25 presidential election, was congratulated by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba.

Adelugba characterized the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate’s victory as “historic and remarkable in the nation’s political history” and a reward for his perseverance as a democrat and a supporter of the common man.

The Speaker said in response to Tinubu being announced as the winner of the presidential election in a statement by her Special Adviser for Media, Odunayo Ogunmola, that the President-elect has a mandate from all of Nigeria, demonstrating his acceptance by the millions of electors who supported him.

In a fierce battle in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government, Nigerian Army soldiers neutralized one bandit and destroyed a criminal hideout.

After the troops encountered the bandits, they also freed 14 kidnapped victims.

In a statement released on Saturday, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna, confirmed that the bandit hideout was destroyed during a fierce battle between the 167 Battalion’s Special Forces and members of Sector Four of Operation Whirl.

He claimed that the troops engaged and overpowered the outlaws in the Tukurua general area of the Chikun LGA, neutralizing one while chasing the others as they fled in confusion.

Nine men and five women out of 14 kidnapped victims were rescued by the troops, he claimed, and they took them to a secure location for evaluation and debriefing before returning them to their families.

“I demand complete transparency and prompt action from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as an exhaustive investigation into claims of voter suppression, postponed poll openings, the failure of the new electronic voting system, and a sharp drop in turnout.

“Free, fair, and transparent elections are the foundation of democracy. Elections that aren’t fair, open, and transparent disenfranchise voters and undermine public confidence in the government. The low voter turnout in Nigeria already suggests a lack of confidence in the nation’s democratic institutions. The proper execution of the process is essential.
