The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed how miscreants maltreated him when he visited a restaurant in Abuja to eat.
The minister said the miscreants were expecting money from him.
Reports had it that Wike spoke at a media chat, responding to questions on how residents of FCT have rated him after the transformation of some parts of the city.
The immediate past governor of Rivers State said he went out without his security aides to eat in an undisclosed eatery but became uncomfortable when miscreants started gathering at the facility begging him for money.
“I went into the restaurant and about 50 people came to greet me, and I had to leave because I was uncomfortable,” he said.
“There was a day that I went to one of the restaurants to eat, and I didn’t go with bodyguards. When I got there I was met with over 50 people coming to greet me and I didn’t know what to do.
“I didn’t feel safe, of course you can’t interpret that as people liking you.
“I told the restaurant workers I’d come back, but I wasn’t comfortable at that point. “As soon as I stepped out, I saw some miscreants waiting for me to give them money,” he said.
