Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator, has been detained in Cotonou, Benin Republic, according to The Nation.
His media aide, Olayomi Koiki, is also believed to have fled the country.
On Monday night, Igboho was apprehended at a Cotonou airport.
On Tuesday, several followers of the embattled agitator confirmed his arrest to The Nation.
One of them claimed Igboho was traveling to Germany with a Benin Republic passport when he was apprehended on Monday night.
“It would have been difficult for police to apprehend him if he had been arrested outside of the country.” He held a German passport that was valid for ten years.
“Forget the rumors and speculations that his whereabouts were monitored in Nigeria; clever sources found it difficult to track his whereabouts; he has been in a hidden place in Benin Republic for almost two weeks.”
On July 1, Department for State Security (DSS) agents invaded his Soka, Ibadan home, killing two of his men and arresting 13 followers.

Ighobo managed to flee the raid and was later identified as a wanted man by the Service. Since then, he’d gone underground.
The Federal Government had issued a warning to Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) units to be on the lookout for agitators, revealing that Igboho had perfected preparations to exit the country.
“I implore you to stand with your own, who has not committed any crime,” Omo Yoruba Ronu TV, which airs programming relating to Igboho and Yoruba Nation agitation, stated in a brief post on Tuesday. It is not illegal to exercise one’s right to self-determination.
“They are still standing with the murderous herdsmen who have killed over 20,000 Nigerians under Buhari, even requesting that everyone give them land and that we provide billions of dollars to them.”
Reno Omokri, a former advisor to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, added, “The alleged arrest of Sunday Igboho in Cotonou is sad.” He is a brave freedom fighter who has stood up for us.
“Now we must reward his kindness while simultaneously defending him by assembling resources for his legal defense. Buhari has demonstrated and continues to exhibit the same dedication to murderous herdsmen and bandits as he has to Igboho.”
As of the time of this article, attempts to contact Igboho’s media aide, Koiki, were unsuccessful.
