The Senate passed a bill on Tuesday that aims to expand the number of law school campuses across the country.

The bill was passed after the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters adopted a report.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Chairman of the Committee, said the bill seeks seven additional law school campuses in Kabba, Kogi State, Jos, Plateau State, and Maiduguri, Borno State, while presenting the report during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Ilawe, Ekiti State, Okija, Anambra State, Orogun, Delta State, and Arugungu, Kebbi State are among the others.

Senator Bamidele stated that, given the exponential increase in the number of law graduates from Nigerian and foreign universities, as well as the long-standing backlog, this legislative intervention is not only appropriate and timely, but also crucial.
