The most recent Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, has been named as Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara’s new Chief of Staff.
As Chief of Staff, he succeeds Chidi Amadi.
Fubara’s ally Ehie had resigned a few days prior as the state Assembly’s speaker.
Recall that the parties to the peace conference, called by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledged Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as Speaker of the House in a resolution they signed.
But it didn’t contain a sentence requiring Ehie to resign from the House.
This is what happened after Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, got into a disagreement.
Over control of the state’s resources and political system, the two have been at odds.
