The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he is prepared to die in defense of the citizens’ votes and democracy in the 2027 elections.

This is as he called on Nigerians not to be intimidated going into the general elections next year.

The declaration was said to have been made by Obi on Thursday while speaking to supporters at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“Fear not.

Somebody said, ‘We are ready to die. You know, I’m just as ready to die. “You are not alone,” said Peter Obi.

He also urged his supporters and all Nigerians to vote and protect their votes in the 2027 elections.

“They just want you to defend, and insist that the vote must count. “And that’s the demand we are going to make, and make aggressively,” he said.

The former Anambra State Governor also cautioned that manipulations of the electoral process would be resisted.

He called on Nigerians to take active part in political campaigns, saying the country could only be rescued through collective action.

Yes, they will try to manipulate it. But let me tell you, this time it won’t be easy.

“So if you have short hands, go to that campaign, believe all of us will rescue our country,’’ Obi said.

The NDC presidential candidate also warned that no excuse must be tolerated in the stand against electoral malpractices, saying Nigerians are already suffering from poor leadership.

If we allow them to continue, that glitch will glitch our life. And that’s why we’re in pain now.

“Our leaders are bad and that makes our refinery bad,” he said.
