Stakeholders Asked to Address Problems Disrupting Delta Ports – WACCIMA

Stakeholders in the South-South have been urged by the Warri Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (WACCIMA) to cease making concessions on matters that jeopardize the Delta ports’ full operational capacity.

The call came from Engr. Anthony Okoh, President of WACCIMA and the Delta Association of Chambers of Commerce (DACCIMA), on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Chambers’ secretariat in Effurun, Delta State, by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel.

Okoh reaffirmed WACCIMA’s long-standing demand that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) fully revitalize the Delta ports, emphasizing that the region’s employment and economic activity would be significantly impacted by their optimal operation.

“People in the South-South have a tendency to compromise on issues.” It is a problem of attitude. “We need to shift our perspective and cease making concessions to the government,” he declared.

He went on to relate the appalling state of port operations to the poor state of roads throughout the southern region, pointing out that the roads were initially built with anticipated traffic volumes in mind.
According to Okoh, “the roads give way when the pressure exceeds the estimated frequency, it becomes a chain reaction.”

He said that building an effective railway network to connect the Niger Delta states to other important economic corridors would alleviate the pressure of heavy-duty trucks on the highways and improve corporate connectivity.

Additionally, Okoh bemoaned what he called the organized private sector’s futile attempts to consult with Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, on ways to maximize the state’s economic potential.

“The work we do here is voluntary. We forfeit our money and effort. We occasionally hear that our governor is traveling to China or Brazil for business meetings, but the organized private sector is not involved,” he stated.
He claims that in order to persuade the state government to accept the development proposals from the private sector, WACCIMA intends to ask its national leadership to engage with it.

“We are not hostile and we are lawful. Although we have members who are capable of engaging in large-scale mechanized farming, the government does not provide us with the necessary assistance. He continued, “Instead, we receive support from other private sector actors.”

Okoh proposed that the government may assist the organized private sector by serving as an insurance policy.

He mentioned a plastic recycling project that had previously been proposed to the state government but had failed, pointing out that although there were many good ideas that could improve the state’s economy, the difficulty lay in the government’s ability to put them into practice.

Earlier, Chairman of the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Okiemute Okpomor, who led the team, highlighted the need for closer collaboration between the media and WACCIMA to help drive economic growth in Delta State.

Abuja indigenes condemn persistent calls for Wike’s sack

0

The coalition of FCT indigenes and residents organizations have condemned in strong terms the persistent calls for the sack of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The indigenes urged President Bola Tinubu to shun all naysayers behind such calls.

The coalition led by Princess Ajibola said
since the appointment of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, as the Minister of FCT.the city has witnessed a renewed sense of purpose, urgency, and direction.

She said the FCT is no longer defined by abandoned projects, endless excuses, or policy paralysis. Instead, we see action, courage, and results.

“Across the city centre and the satellite towns, long-neglected infrastructure is receiving attention. Critical road projects are being completed or revived. Urban renewal is no longer a slogan—it is a reality. Public order, land administration reforms, and the restoration of Abuja’s master plan are being pursued with uncommon political will. For the first time in a long while, residents can clearly see where leadership is headed.

“We, the indigenes and residents of the FCT, say clearly today: we see the work, and we appreciate the work.

“Leadership is not about pleasing everyone; it is about doing what is right for the common good. Transforming a capital city as complex as Abuja requires firmness, clarity of vision, and the courage to take difficult decisions. Minister Wike has demonstrated these qualities without apology.

“Let it be on record that the people of the FCT stand with him. We stand with him because development is happening. We stand with him because governance has direction. We stand with him because Abuja deserves leadership that works—not leadership that watches.
However, we must also speak plainly.
To those who see progress as a threat to their personal interests;
to those who thrive on chaos, abandoned projects, and policy failure;
to political detractors and professional distractors who are uncomfortable with results—
we issue a firm and responsible warning.
The FCT is not a battleground for political vendettas. It is the capital of our nation and the home of millions of law-abiding citizens. Attempts to distract, malign, or sabotage genuine efforts at development will be resisted—not with violence, but with civic unity, lawful engagement, and the power of public opinion.
We call on all political actors to put Abuja first. Allow the Minister to continue his work. Allow projects to be completed. Allow reforms to take root. Democracy thrives when leaders are judged by performance, not propaganda.
As a coalition, we reaffirm our commitment to constructive engagement, peace, and national unity. We believe that when Abuja works, Nigeria works. When the capital reflects order, development, and fairness, the nation benefits.
Honourable Minister, we encourage you to remain focused. The voices of distraction are loud, but the voices of grateful citizens are louder. History will remember those who built, not those who tried to pull down.
In conclusion, we say with one voice:
Transform the capital. Complete the work. The people are with you.
God bless the Federal Capital Territory.

At this point, we must expressly appreciate and commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his vision, courage, and statesmanship in appointing Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, as the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr. President’s decision rose above political affiliations, electoral history, and narrow sentiments. It reflected a clear understanding that nation-building requires competence, capacity, and courage, wherever they may be found. By this appointment, Mr. President placed national interest above partisan considerations—and the results are evident for all to see.

We note with appreciation that President Tinubu himself has, on several occasions, openly commended the Honourable Minister for his performance, dedication, and commitment to delivering results in the FCT. This presidential commendation is not symbolic; it is a reflection of measurable progress and effective governance” she said

El-Rufai’s Prediction of Tinubu’s 2027 Defeat Refuted by Joe Igbokwe

0

Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has responded to Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, about his claim that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party might not win the 2027 election.

El-Rufai reportedly said during the 23rd Daily Trust Dialogue that the APC’s rule might come to an end following the general elections in 2027.

In response, Igbokwe stated in a Facebook post that Tinubu cannot lose the 2027 election and enumerated ten reasons the president will win reelection.

“Let me tell my good friend, HE El Rufai that this is not possible given the permutations on ground,” the message says. Why?

“PBAT is transforming Nigeria in a manner never seen before.”

“PBAT has extensive experience in fixing Nigeria.

More Nigerians, living or dead, have been impacted by PBAT.

“Of all those in power over the last 30 years, PBAT has been the most intelligent, the most learned, and the bean counter.

“PBAT spent almost 20 years training for this position.

In Nigeria, PBAT has constructed enormous bridges.

“All of the new departments and agencies you see in Lagos today were established by PBAT, and other states started to imitate them.”

From the beginning of time, PBAT has been a financial genius.

“PBAT has shown people mercy and has been an unparalleled giver.

“PBAT has produced more leaders than any living or deceased person in this nation. This is what sets PBAT apart.

Atiku’s Aide Dakingari Criticizes Presidency Over Treatment of Appointees

0

Phrank Shaibu, the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, has criticized the administration for announcing and then rescinding Usman Dakingari’s nomination as Nigeria’s ambassador to Turkey.

According to reports, Shaibu criticized the administration for failing to offer an official explanation of the matter in a post on 𝕏.

Atiku’s assistant went on to characterize the event as the present administration’s eleventh public reversal, claiming that such moves show disrespect for public institutions and cause confusion and uncertainty.

He also recalled instances in the past where living appointees were humiliated by abrupt reversals and deceased people were declared to be appointed to offices.

Shaibu emphasizes that administration should not be viewed like a social media message that can be removed without accountability, arguing that a government that is unable to monitor its own pronouncements cannot be trusted to rule a nation.

Additionally, he charged that rather than concentrating on efficient governance, the administration was fixated on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for 2023.

“They have appointed the dead before,” he wrote. They now named Dakingari an ambassador, but they abruptly retracted it before lunch at “Iya Oyo” without giving a reason. Usman Dakingari was named ambassador to Turkey. Minutes later, there was never an appointment. This government has made eleven public reversals. Eleven instances of institutional contempt, doubt, and confusion

“The presidency is fixated on @atiku and @PeterObi rather than fundamental competence, while Nigerians struggle.” A government cannot rule a nation if it is unable to monitor its own statements.

“@aonanuga1956” Governance cannot be erased like a WhatsApp broadcast. Reputable governments give an explanation. Before announcing appointments, serious governments conduct a double check. Reputable governments don’t wake up, humiliate living appointees, and then act as if nothing had occurred.

I’m Not Desperate for Abia Governorship in 2027 — Kalu

0

Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, has refuted the assertion that he is anxious to become governor of Abia State in 2027, emphasizing that the people of the state and his party, the All Progressives Party (APC), will decide his future political move.

He emphasizes that serving the people of Bende Federal Constituency is his current goal and that becoming governor is not the ultimate goal for somebody like him.

Speaking to reporters on Friday at his rural home, Kalu insisted that 2026 is still too early for political changes, emphasizing that his main concern is still providing his constituents with high-quality democratic dividends rather than the post he will hold in 2027.

“2026 is still here.” My plans for what I will run for in 2027 have not yet been announced. “I will take a stance when the time is right and whatever my people and my party say I should contest,” he declared.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives stated that he invited Governor Alex Otti to join the APC out of friendship and the party’s benefit.

“The narrative that I want to block him from coming to APC is not true,” he added, using the occasion to refute the rumor that he, Kalu, is preventing the governor from joining the party.

“I am the one inviting him to APC, but if I were self-centered, I would do that. Theodore Orji, a former governor of Abia State, joined the APC as a result of our ongoing party membership campaign.

“The governor was invited to join us in APC earlier, but that was in the past. He is aware of what is best for him right now. “I’m not making that call anymore,” Kalu continued.

He clarified that, in accordance with the party’s national policy, he was willing to let any incumbent governor who joined the APC assume control of the state’s party organization.

Naturally, the APC will offer a candidate for governor of Abia State. He explained, “That’s how party politics operate.”

Even though he reaffirmed his support for the construction of one more state for the South East in order to put the zone on level with other federation zones, he claims that he is highly interested in bringing development to the Bende Federal constituency.

He insisted that the establishment of a new state in the South East would improve the nation’s unity, cohesiveness, and advancement. The House of Representatives’ Deputy Speaker took use of the occasion to refute claims that part of the ongoing roads he brought to Bende had been abandoned.

Speaking on his leadership, Kalu reiterated his dedication to effectively representing the Bende Federal Constituency, noting that more than 20 road improvements had been finished in the area and that several more are in underway.

Kalu claimed to have raised ₦10 billion for the improvement of the Umuahia-Bende-Ohafia-Arochukwu Road.

“The road is part of the agreement between the Federal Government and the Abia State government for reconstruction,” he said, quoting the Minister of Works. Nevertheless, the N10B that we were able to secure for the same road was subsequently diverted to the building of new roads in Bende.

He voiced his concern over the condition of the road, saying that it is shameful that such a vital artery would be in such bad shape.

The Deputy Speaker denied that the Ohumola Civic Center in Igbere has been abandoned in response to accusations that he has abandoned some of the projects he has brought to Bende.

“The Bende Federal Constituency does not have any abandoned projects. Every project is in progress. Someone began disseminating false information at a failed 20-meter section of the 5.8-kilometer Bende–Ozuitem Road. He declared, “That is not governance.”

In response to concerns about the Electoral Act, Kalu denied that the House of Representatives was purposefully delaying the process, saying that the House is waiting on the Senate to take concurrent legislative action.

Regarding financial autonomy for local governments, Kalu reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge to ensure that states and local government councils follow the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“Any ruling rendered by the constitutional court must be followed. When the moment is right, I think governors will cooperate. State governors would be able to focus on more ambitious development projects if local governments used their budgets efficiently, he continued.

Regarding peace in the South East, Kalu clarified that his efforts to promote peace in the area would soon pay off. He claims that the program has successfully engaged agitated groups in a covert manner.

You would concur that the South-East is now more tranquil than it was in the past. He thought, “That is not by accident.”

El-Rufai Says APC May Lose Power in 2027

0

Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will probably run in 2027.

According to reports, El-Rufai stated that political power in Nigeria is still up for debate during his speech at the 23rd Daily Trust Dialogue, which had as its theme “Nigeria’s Fourth Republic: What Is Working and What Is Not.”
El-Rufai pointed out that the APC will not hold power indefinitely, just as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ruled Nigeria for 16 years before losing it.

The former Federal Capital Territory Minister claims that Nigeria’s democratic experience is unique on the African continent since, in contrast to several other nations with dominant-party systems, no single party holds permanent power.

“Nigeria does not have a permanent ruling party, and that is an achievement,” he declared.

For sixteen years, the PDP was in power. The APC will not hold power indefinitely. The APC is probably going to disappear around 2027.

As a result, power is still up for debate. This sets Nigeria apart from other main party systems on the continent.

El-Rufai emphasized that political rivalry has not yet resulted in accountability or good government, pointing out that Nigerian political parties are still weak and “personality-driven and transactional.”

“Competition has not yet matured into accountability and good governance,” he stated.

Speaking from Brussels, Belgium, where he claimed to be recuperating from illness, the former governor expressed regret for missing the Abuja ceremony.

Justice Onwuegbuzie Set To Grant Prosecution ‘s “Strange” Motion Jan. 26 To Revoke My Bail, Remand Me In Kuje Prison -, Lawyer Cries Out

An Abuja based lawyer, Barrister Victor Giwa has cried out to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, saying those after him have succeeded in getting Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Apo Resettlement, to grant prosecution ‘s strange motion on notice to be moved on 26th january, 2026, seeking to revoke his bail and remand him in Kuje Corectional Centre until the end of his trial.

In a letter to the associations president, Mazi Mazi Afam Osigwe, dated January 23, 2026, the human rights lawyer is seeking the intervention of the association.

He said the situation in his trial has degenerated below injustice and has become dirty and somewhat indescribable.

He accused the judge of no longer conducting his trial but on a vengeoance mission.

He said in the letter, “”Mr, President, Recall I write you a letter dated 25th November, 2025 to officially inform you and bring to your attention the situation regarding the judicial proceedings in the FCT High Court, particularly, FCT High Court No. 30, Apo before His Lordship, Hon Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie and the patent compromised by external influences of judicial proceedings and the injustice perpetrated by Asabe Waziri a Management Staff of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) facilitated by some named persons.

“The situation has degenerated below Injustice and has become dirty and somewhat indescribable.

“The event in court shows that Hon Justice Jude is no longer conducting my trial, His Lordship is on a vengeance, to embarrass, humiliate and punish me as planned by Asabe Waziri of NNPCL and her named facilitators. The concluded plan is to send me to Kuje Correctional Centre, from where I should be attending my trial.

“Hon Justice Jude hurriedly struck out my six applications challenging the Court’s jurisdiction filed between May and December, 2025, on 21st January, 2026 in a terse Ruling and on oral application of the Prosecution. This is to clear the way for the grant of prosecutor’s Motion seeking “TO REVOKE MY BAIL AND REMAND ME IN KUJE CORRECTIONAL CENTRE ÜNTIL THE END OF THE TRIAL”
My President, since the beginning of this trial, Hon Justice Jude has granted all the prosecutor’s applications, and has refused all my applications including the application seeking the release of my internation passport to travel and get medication and see my family.

“His Lordship has refused my application for CTC of the rulings that His Lordship delivered on the 26th November, 2026 for a Motion I have not move. His Lordship has refused my request for record of proceedings of the Court till date.

“Each sitting in His Court during my trial has the presence of over eight Policemen inside the court paid my Asabe Waziri, the nominal complainant and sponsor of the trial.
I had publicly and severally notified the Honourable court that I have lost total confidence in the Honourable Court the Court still insisted to continue the case.
Each of the court’s sitting during my trail is characterized by threats and intimidation of “” wielding the big stick””.
Report has it that His Lordship has written in advance, a ruling on the prosecution’s weird application, to me moved on 26th January, 2026 to “revoke my bail and remand me in Kuje Correctional Center till the end of my trial”. Copy of Motion is annexure A.

“Asabe Waziri the nominal complainant and the sponsor of the charge and trial was seen dancing in the court at the striking out of my motions during the hearing on the 21st January, 2026.

“Asabe Waziri has vowed to ruin and damage my carrier and professional reputation with every resources she has using her contacts and connection as an NNPC staff.

“All these are irrespective of my four applications to the Chief Judge of FCT to direct recusal and reassignment of my case. And my Petition against the Honourable Justice Jude to the National Judicial Council (NJC) in December, 2025.

“Conclusion, a Judge that comes in court with an already prepared ruling on a Motion that has not being moved is not holding an even scale, He is holding a dagger.

I therefore, call on the president to urgently intervene to halt the event from taking place on 26th monday, 2026, or in any other day in hon justice jude’s court.”

Nothing Attracts People Like Loving Them – Pastor Korede Komaiya.

0

The presiding pastor of master’s place international church, Pastor Korede Komaiya has said; “Nothing Attracts People Like Love”.

The cleric made this known in a video clip message recently released titled, “This Is The Foundation: To Raise Leaders, Love People”.

Speaking to the people, Korede said; “How many times have we been here for meetings and you see all over, people being acknowledged for unbroken years of service, how many years have properties been given to people here, people must feel belonged, he stressed and emphasized.

“In our ministry, I don’t believe in employee and employer, I only want stakeholders in our ministry”.

“The concept of employer, employee does not apply in our own ministry and to the glory of God, following this same example, all our staffs are on church scholarship, anyone who is a staff of the ministry, all their children are on church scholarship, education we pay for it, health 100%, any health crisis, our ministry pays for it”.

“There’s no deduction in salary, accommodation is free and we change your cars, every four (4), four years and as you rise in leadership, you go abroad once a year”.

Last year December, we paid the salary, paid 13 month salary and we still pay 50% as bonus”.

Using this as a backdrop, Korede declared, “It is important for you to know that, nothing attracts people like loving them”.

This is necessary and coming amidst several criticism that recently accompanied and trailed his message, ‘i will never followed a poor pastor’, that was misunderstood, misquoted and somehow blown out of proportion

Judicial Decision: Rivers Chief Judge Declines Panel for Fubara and Deputy

0

Judge Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, has refused to form a seven-person panel to look into claims of egregious misconduct against Governor Sim Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Ordu.

Justice Amadi cited two court orders prohibiting him from accepting, sending, or considering any petitions to constitute such a panel in a letter dated January 20, 2026, to Martins Amaewhule, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

On January 16, 2026, the orders were delivered to his office and are still in effect.

The Chief Judge underlined that regardless of their opinion of the validity of existing court orders, all authorities must abide by them due to constitutionalism and the rule of law.
He cited court rulings, pointing out that in a comparable situation in 2007, the Chief Judge of Kwara State was found guilty of disobeying a restraining court order when establishing an investigating panel; the Court of Appeal later overturned this ruling.

The Speaker has already filed an appeal against the court orders at the Court of Appeal, according to Justice Amadi, adding another level of complexity to the continuing legal proceedings surrounding the claims.

El-Rufai Claims APC Members Don’t Face Corruption Allegations

0

Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, expressed concerns on Thursday about what he called selective accountability in Nigeria, cautioning that the idea that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are rarely charged with corruption needs to be addressed immediately.

El-Rufai reportedly gave a speech at the 23rd Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, which had as its theme “Nigeria’s Fourth Republic: What is Working and What is Not?”

He claims that Nigeria suffers from unaccountable governance, pointing out that changes have prioritized procedures above results.

Without accountability, we have governance. Nigeria has developed accountability and change more quickly than in terms of content, he claimed.

“We hold elections, establish agencies, and declare asset recoveries, but accountability by simply governing remains selective,” he continued. Corruption is now invisible to those in positions of power, negotiable for those who are on the fence and wish to switch to the APC, and dangerous for others who are in opposition. Members of the APC are never charged with corruption.

The former governor cautioned that ordinary Nigerians would suffer greatly from unequal enforcement of the law.

Unpaid salaries, shelved projects, deteriorating infrastructure, and general cynicism are examples of this; it is not abstract. Deterrence breaks down when laws are applied inconsistently. Additionally, confidence disappears when deterrence fails, which is what is occurring in Nigeria, he stated.

El-Rufai emphasized that in order to ensure legitimate elections and an impartial electoral commission, institutions must be strengthened, especially through judicial reforms.

Ultimately, for our politics to have purpose, we need to reinstate moral and capable governance. He continued, “Reform is about what needs to end as well as what needs to change.

Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Policy Communication, and Hon. Nnenna Elendu-Ukeje, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 7th and 8th House of Representatives, were among the other panelists at the event.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki presided over the discussion, and Rashidi Ladoja served as the Special Guest of Honor.
