JUST IN: PDP Links APC Official to Alleged Forgery in Udeh-Okoye Ruling

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is accused of being behind the PDP’s dismissal of the alleged forgery in the case that confirmed Sunday Udeh-Okoye as national secretary.
According to reports, the PDP announced this in response to a court decision that ordered an examination of its primary election standards due to claims of fraud.
Recall that Sunday Udeh-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu are vying for the role of national secretary, causing a leadership crisis within the PDP.
After Anyanwu was elected as the PDP’s candidate for governor of Imo state in 2023, Udeh-Okoye was chosen by the party’s southeast zonal executive committee to succeed him.

Anyanwu has secured injunctions from the courts to prevent his dismissal.

However, the high court’s ruling that barred Anyanwu’s dismissal was overturned by appellate court judge Ridwan Abdullahi in December 2024 for lack of merit.

The crisis took a fresh turn when an Abuja magistrate court ordered the police to look into claims that party executives used fake documents at the court of appeal hearing.

In response to a petition submitted by Mike Iheanaetu, a member of the PDP, the court issued the order.

PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba responded to the court decision by calling the forgery accusation “funny” and “misleading,” emphasizing that the incident is the fault of a senior APC official.

“Our party is shocked by the level of desperation being displayed by these individuals,” the statement says. It claims that these individuals are acting with the support of a top APC official who has repeatedly vowed to destroy the PDP in order to allow the APC to firmly establish an oppressive and totalitarian one-party system in our country, much to the chagrin and harm of Nigerians.

“Despite the rulings of several higher-ranking courts, including the Supreme Court, which have declared that matters pertaining to the nomination of candidates for elections are solely internal affairs of political parties over which the courts have no jurisdiction, our party is horrified by the scandalous and reprehensible attempt by these desperate individuals to involve the police and an Abuja magistrate court in the party’s internal affairs.”

According to reports, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has backed Peter Obi as its nominee for president in the general election scheduled for 2027.

“Mere rumors and a figment of the peddlers’ imaginations,” the party said of the charges.

In an Abuja statement issued Sunday evening, ZLP National Publicity Secretary Khalid Arewa confirmed that the accusations were untrue and that the party had not taken any such action.

Claims that the party had given Obi a free ticket for the 2027 elections prompted the clarification.

With the help of young Nigerians, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the general election of 2023, became a huge favorite. He finished as the second runner-up in the election, which was won by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To improve his chances in the 2027 election, there have been recent rumors that Obi is trying to put together a coalition with other opposition groups.

However, the ZLP has disassociated itself from any debate about the upcoming election cycle or endorsement of Obi.

According to the party’s statement, “ZLP wishes to address a misleading publication that is circulating on various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), to falsely attribute to our party an offer of a free ticket to Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election.”

We don’t know which handle posted this false information. We don’t have any authority over that account, and we’re not connected to the people that operate it.

We firmly refute this allegation in its entirety and declare that the statement does not represent the opinions, choices, or stance of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has denounced false assertions that their fuel is short-lived, as presented in a widely shared viral video.
Olufemi Soneye, a NNPC spokesman, reportedly stated that the claim was completely unsubstantiated and unfounded, stemming from amateur, unconfirmed research that is devoid of professional oversight, credibility, and accuracy.
Dangote Refinery contributed a substantial portion of the petroleum sold at NNPC filling stations in Lagos, according to a statement released by NNPC on Saturday.

“NNPC Ltd reaffirms that its fuel is meticulously formulated with one of the best compositions, guaranteeing consumers environmental sustainability, durability, and optimal efficiency.”It’s also critical to highlight that a sizable portion of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos, the location of the false film, comes from the Dangote Refinery, a key partner in advancing regional production and energy security. By upholding stringent industry standards, Dangote Refinery ensures the caliber of petroleum products that are delivered to our customers.

Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly who was impeached, has applied to the Lagos State High Court to be reinstated as Speaker immediately.
According to court documents that Peoples Gazette was able to access, Obasa asserts that on January 13, 2025, he was deposed illegally.
The current Speaker, Lasbat Mojisola Meranda, and the Lagos State House of Assembly are named as defendants in the lawsuit, which was filed on February 14, 2025.
Following multiple unsuccessful political discussions between Lagos and Abuja to address the leadership situation, the legal move was taken. The impasse has continued in spite of President Bola Tinubu’s order for Obasa to be reinstated, with MPs allegedly fearing reprisals from the ousted Speaker should he be allowed to return to office.

The plenary session that led to his impeachment was illegally held during the Assembly’s recess without the required authority, according to Obasa’s lawsuit, which contested its constitutionality.

“The action contested the Lagos State House of Assembly’s sitting and procedures to convene during recess without calling the House back or granting any other person the authority to do so,” the document reads.

The session, according to Mr. Obasa, violated the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Sections 36, 90(2)(c), 101, and 311; it also violated the Lagos State House of Assembly Rules and Standing Orders, notably Order V Rule 18(2) and Order II Rule 9(i-viii).

According to reports, President Tinubu’s hard position has not prevented the leadership situation from getting worse. Tinubu, who is angry about the hold-up in restoring Obasa, recently refused to meet with the Lagos APC’s Governance Advisory Council (GAC) members, claiming they were disobeying his orders.

Still, there is a lot of dissent within the party. GAC member Muraina Akanbi Taiwo said that the effort to reinstall Mr. Obasa would be disapproved of. The state’s god is not Mr. Tinubu.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, or NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, has called on the state government and civic-minded people to give the predicament of the state’s special needs school pupils more consideration.

Comrade Amos Etuk, the Chairman of the NUJ in Akwa Ibom State, made the call on Friday during the 2025 Valentine Charity outing of the NUJ’s Inspiration FM chapel, which had as its subject “A Heart For Others.” The event took place at the Learning Disabilities Society of Nigeria, LDSN, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to Etuk, the next Education Commissioner should put the needs and welfare of the special education students first in order to ensure a smooth learning environment.

Through the union’s advocacy, he also conveyed the desire that Governor Umo Eno would visit the center and attend to their urgent needs.

He also hoped that the children with special needs would soon receive enough support and assistance, and he praised their teachers for their patience in teaching and guiding them.

“This Valentine’s Day moment is the best I’ve ever seen,” he said. I believe in God, and I see the gregarious kids.

“I will advocate more vigorously for the government to give them more consideration. I’m confident that via advocacy, our receptive governor, who is passionate about education and people, will eventually come here.

Earlier in her speech, Comrade Imaobong Dem, the Chairman of Inspiration FM Chapel, greeted the audience and reaffirmed the challenges faced by parents of special needs children, emphasizing that they go above and beyond to provide for them.

Based on her conversations with the parents of these kids, Dem said she found that the majority of them are quite talented and proficient in painting, drawing, and other artistic endeavors.

In order to help these kids fulfill their divinely mandated role, she pleaded for the necessary assistance, including that of their parents.

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad (JAS) engaged in a bloody conflict in Borno State on Friday, with significant losses on both sides.
Toumbun Gini and Toumbun Ali camps were the targets of a well-coordinated offensive by JAS militants against ISWAP strongholds in the Abadam Local Government Area, according to sources who spoke to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.
The attack, which started early on February 14, involved JAS militants landing on several watercraft vessels and fighting ISWAP forces until late at night.

High-ranking leaders were killed
Several senior ISWAP commanders, especially those from the Buduma ethnic group, were killed in the battle. One of the prominent individuals slain is said to have participated in the heinous slaughter of numerous farmers in Kukawa on January 12 and 13.
“Over 31 ISWAP fighters were killed by Boko Haram, but the death toll may be higher,” a source revealed. After overrunning ISWAP positions and capturing weapons and necessary equipment, JAS fighters fled.
