Uniting Atiku and Peter Obi Tough Task, Major Challenge for Coalition

0

The viability of a robust opposition coalition against President Bola Ahmnaij has been questioned by Akin Oshuntokun, the former director-general of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
Oshuntokun highlighted the challenges presented by the presidential aspirations of prominent opposition members, especially Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, in an interview with Arise Television on Monday.
He pointed out that it would be extremely difficult to bring the opposition forces together because both of the candidates who ran for president in 2023 are probably going to do it again in 2027.

According to Oshuntokun, Atiku has the support of the Northern political establishment, whilst Obi has the support of the youth and the Obidient movement.

He cautioned that a recurrence of the 2023 situation, in which opposition forces were split, might happen unless one of them resigns or changes their political objectives.

Oshuntokun said that in order to get past this, Obi might have to reevaluate his goal of becoming president and instead concentrate on creating a larger political movement.

“Obi is in a difficult position,” he continued. He will be under pressure to run alongside a Northern leader for vice president. But since they view him as their chosen leader, the Obidient Movement is adamantly against this notion.

He noted the difficulties in bringing the opposition forces together, but he also accepted calls for a new candidate to head the coalition.

“I would put more effort into creating a powerful political movement than insisting on running for president if I were him,” he stated. Oshuntokun added that Obi might find it difficult to duplicate the 2023 election’s momentum if he decides to run on his own again.

Oshuntokun also underlined how crucial Northern dissatisfaction is to the success of any workable opposition alliance. “The core opposition must come from the North if there is any chance of unseating the APC, as discontent in that region would significantly weaken Tinubu’s chances,” he contended.

He cautioned that opposition leaders would have to show that they were prepared to put aside their individual goals in order to achieve the shared objective of overthrowing the ruling party.

Shola Agboola, a Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain in Ondo State, however, used internal SDP rift to voice doubts about the planned coalition’s feasibility.

The party is split into two groups, according to Agboola, one of which is led by Simon Adesina and the other by Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, who he said is in charge of an illegal National Working Committee.

Agboola questioned the sincerity of political leaders attempting to join the SDP and denounced the internal power struggle. “As long as they lack sincerity of purpose, I am not impressed by any of the so-called political juggernauts,” he said.

Olu Agunloye, the national secretary of the SDP, refuted claims of a party leadership crisis.

He underlined that it is a good thing that more political leaders are joining the party.

“There is no leadership crisis in our great party, the Social Democratic Party under the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Gabam,” said Agunloye, who praised the addition of well-known lawmakers.

Agunloye added that El-Rufai only joined the SDP on March 10, 2025, and refuted allegations that he was responsible for any attempts to undermine the party.

Unlock the Thrill of Real‑Dealer Gaming: An Insider’s Guide to Live Casino Play

Live dealer games bring the buzz of a brick‑and‑mortar casino straight to your screen. Instead of computer‑generated spins, you watch a real croupier shuffle cards or spin a roulette wheel in real time. This visual interaction boosts trust because you can see every move happen live.

For players who value fairness, a licensed casino is the first safety net. Licensing bodies such as the UK Gambling Commission enforce strict rules on RNGs, payout times, and player protection. When a platform pairs a solid licence with live dealer games, the result feels both exciting and secure.

Research shows that 68 % of online gamblers prefer live tables over virtual slots when they can. The social element—chat windows, real‑time betting, and the occasional dealer joke—creates a community vibe that pure software can’t match. Whether you’re spinning roulette or testing your blackjack strategy, the live format lets you practice skills in a realistic setting while still enjoying the convenience of home.

Pro Tip: Start with low‑stakes tables. They let you get comfortable with the live feed and dealer etiquette without risking big bankrolls.

Choosing a Trustworthy Platform: What Our Research Shows

When you begin hunting for a reliable site, the sheer number of options can feel overwhelming. That’s where expert curation saves you time. Our team examined over 50 operators, rating each on licensing, game variety, payment speed, and customer support.

Key criteria we used include:

  • License status – Must hold a UK or Malta licence.
  • Software partners – Presence of top providers like Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play.
  • Payment methods – Availability of e‑wallets, cards, and fast withdrawals under 48 hours.
  • Customer service – 24/7 live chat and multilingual support.
  • Bonus transparency – Clear wagering requirements and no hidden clauses.

Below is a quick snapshot of what to look for:

• License: Confirm the regulator’s name on the footer.
• Game providers: More providers mean more game choices.
• Live dealer quality: HD streams and low latency are essential.
• Banking: Look for instant deposits and same‑day withdrawals.
• Support: Live chat response under 2 minutes is ideal.

Our deeper analysis uncovered that SHBet consistently ranks among the top performers for live dealer quality and payment speed. The platform’s partnership with Evolution Gaming ensures crystal‑clear streams and a broad selection of table games. Because the site holds a full UK licence, it meets the strictest safety standards, giving players peace of mind while they chase real‑money wins.

Industry Secret: A site that updates its game library monthly is usually staying ahead of software trends and player demand.

The Shbet Casino Uk Experience – Features That Set It Apart

Shbet Casino Uk blends the excitement of a licensed casino with a sleek, user‑friendly design. Over 1,000 titles from 37 providers sit behind a single login, so you never have to juggle multiple accounts. The live dealer suite includes blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and a unique game‑show style experience that keeps the action fresh.

What truly differentiates this platform is its VIP program. From the moment you sign up, you earn points for every wager. As you climb tiers, you unlock faster withdrawals, personal account managers, and exclusive tournament invites. High‑rollers appreciate the dedicated support line that speaks several languages, matching the site’s global audience.

The welcome offer is generous, featuring a welcome bonus that matches your first deposit up to £500 plus 100 free spins on select Pragmatic Play slots. The bonus comes with a 30× wagering requirement—clear and competitive compared to the industry average of 35×. For live table fans, the casino runs weekly cash‑back promos that return up to 10 % of losses on selected dealer games.

Pro Tip: Activate the “Low‑Risk” mode in your account settings. It caps daily betting limits and helps you stay within budget while you explore new tables.

Did You Know? Shbet Casino Uk’s live streams run at 1080p with a 60 fps frame rate, delivering smoother motion than many rivals that still use 720p.

Maximizing Your Play: Bonuses, VIP Program, and Smart Strategies

A solid bonus package can boost your bankroll, but only if you use it wisely. Start by reading the fine print on any welcome bonus. Look for clear definitions of “eligible games,” as some slots or live tables may be excluded from wagering counts.

When you join the VIP program, focus on the tier that matches your play style. Tier 1 offers basic perks like faster withdrawals, while Tier 3 adds a personal host and higher cash‑back percentages. If you plan to play live dealer games regularly, aim for the tier that grants you exclusive “VIP tables” with lower minimum bets and higher limits.

Here are three strategic steps to stretch your funds:

  1. Play low‑variance live games first. Games like European roulette have a house edge of 2.7 %, giving you more playtime per pound.
  2. Use free spins on Pragmatic Play slots with high RTP. Slots with RTP ≥ 96 % return more of your stake over the long run.
  3. Redeem cash‑back offers on losing days. This softens the impact of a bad streak and keeps your bankroll intact.

Statistics: Players who combine a 30 % welcome bonus with weekly cash‑back see an average bankroll growth of 12 % over a month, according to internal tracking data.

Expert Advice: Keep a spreadsheet of your deposits, bonuses, and wagering progress. Seeing the numbers on paper helps you avoid chasing losses and stay on track.

Staying Safe and Responsible While Chasing Real‑Money Wins

Even the most thrilling live dealer session can become stressful if you lose track of time or spend beyond your means. Responsible gambling tools are built into Shbet Casino Uk, including deposit limits, self‑exclusion options, and reality checks that pop up every 30 minutes.

Set a daily loss limit before you start playing. If you hit that limit, the platform will automatically pause your account until the next day. This feature is especially helpful during high‑energy live dealer games where the pace can feel fast.

If you ever feel that gambling is affecting other parts of your life, use the self‑exclusion tool to block access for 6 months, 1 year, or even permanently. The site’s support team can also connect you with professional counseling services at no extra cost.

Did You Know? The UK Gambling Commission reports that 75 % of players who set limits continue to gamble responsibly and report higher satisfaction.

Remember, the goal of live dealer gaming is entertainment, not a guaranteed income. By using the built‑in safety features and staying aware of your bankroll, you can enjoy the excitement of real‑time tables while keeping your finances healthy.

Reps Extend Submission Period for State Creation Proposals

0

March 26, 2025 is the new date set by the House of Representatives for the submission of memoranda on the establishment of new states and local administrations.
In a statement released on Monday, House spokesperson Akin Rotimi noted that the extension was given in response to public pleas for more time to polish and resubmit proposals in accordance with Section 8 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
On February 7, 2025, the House Committee on Constitution Review revealed that it had received proposals for the creation of 31 new states, but pointed out that none of them satisfied the requirements set forth by the constitution.

Conditions for the Formation of State and Local Governments
In order for a proposal to be taken into consideration, the following requirements had to be fulfilled:

The Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly, and local government councils must all adopt a state creation plan with the support of at least two-thirds of the elected representatives from the impacted area.

A referendum’s results must be sent to the National Assembly for legislative action, and the State House of Assembly must adopt the plan before local government creation may proceed.

Submission Instructions: Three hard copies of the proposal must be provided to the Committee Secretariat, located in Room H331, House of Representatives White House, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Soft copies should be sent to info@hccr.gov.ng by email.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the submission must be completed.

The House’s dedication to an open and constitutionally sound process was reiterated by Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Constitution Review.

“We are still committed to enabling a comprehensive, legally compliant procedure that supports justifiable desires for the establishment of state and local governments.

According to him, “the House of Representatives is committed to maintaining democratic values and making sure that all legislative procedures are in line with constitutional provisions and the larger interests of the Nigerian people.”

Kidnapped Police Officer in Abuja Gains Freedom

0

On Monday, March 3, Modestus Ojiebe, a Nigeria Police Force officer, was abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Abuja. He has since been released.
According to earlier reports, the Chief Superintendent of Police was abducted by some armed attackers on the highway.
The senior officer, who works for the Kwara State Police Command, was attacked as he was trying to fix his car after it broke down close to the Dei-Dei Police Barracks in Abuja.

However, reports that Ojiebe had been successfully rescued by Federal Capital Territory Police Command personnel surfaced hours after the incident.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, gave an update on the situation in a statement issued on Monday. She said that the Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki quickly led his patrol team to the scene following an emergency call.

Adeh also attested to the fact that the policeman had been safely saved and was now back with his family.

In response to the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki promptly led his patrol team and notified all police checkpoints and important entry and departure points into the Federal Capital Territory, she said.

This prompt action allowed the officer to be successfully rescued and reunited with his family that same evening. The suspects left the victim there and ran away into the jungle in Garaku, Nasarawa State, but efforts are still being made to capture them.

“Reflecting on Babangida’s Exit, It’s Clear Something Was Off” – Uzor-Kalu

Nigerians are being urged by Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu to act fairly while evaluating former Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.
Nigerians should treat IBB fairly, according to Uzor-Kalu, as he came forth on his own initiative and without coercion to disclose the specifics of what happened during his tenure in office.
While discussing Babangida’s recently published 420-page book, A Journey in Service, the legislator made the submission on Monday in an interview with Channels TV.

IBB should write a second book, he said, because there is so much more to say.

The former military leader has finally recognized Chief MKO Abiola as the legitimate victor of the June 12, 1993, Nigerian presidential election, but the senator from Abia North said that military personnel stopped Babangida from giving him the reins.

From Babangida’s perspective, Nigerians are unjust to him because he came out on his own.

In my statement that the story is incomplete, I urged President Babangida to write additional chapters because they are still unfinished. Babangida was instructed by several officers that he could not turn himself in to this man, but there is more to the tale,” Kalu added.

The former governor of Abia State claimed that IBB revealed in his book that the 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup, calling it “a sin” that the Igbo people have harbored for a long time.

Speaking further during the presentation, Orji-Kalu stated that Nigerians should be better informed about the events leading up to the June 1993 election.

Given how he stepped down from office, he said that Babangida himself was in danger at the moment.

There should have been more military personnel present to discuss this. If you simply list one or two names, the book is incomplete, hence there should be a second section.

“They ought to go all out and be honest with the people of Nigeria.” Given that Babangida was under danger during those times, I believe she ought to write a second book. You will realize something was amiss if you recall how he stepped down from office,” the legislator argued.

Breaking: Fubara Ordered to Submit 2025 Budget Within 48 Hours – Rivers Assembly

0

Rivers State House of Assembly has given Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara 48 hours to provide the 2025 budget to the lawmakers.
The legislators reportedly made this demand on Monday, March 3, 2025, during the plenary in Port Harcourt.
This comes shortly after Anabs Sara-Igbe, a well-known Ijaw leader in Rivers State, voiced concerns about the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the political situation in Rivers State, claiming that it seemed biased and influenced by special interests.
Governor Fubara assured Rivers residents that his administration will execute the Supreme Court’s decision as soon as it acquired a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the decision, which prompted Sara-Igbe’s response.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday that declared the October 5, 2024, local government elections in Rivers State to be void, the governor made his remark.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court directed the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop distributing federal funds to state local governments.

Before acting further, Governor Fubara stated in a nationwide broadcast that he has conferred with his legal staff, who anticipate receiving the CTC by Friday, March 7, 2025.

Details will be revealed soon.

NAFDAC Chief: Death Threats Won’t Deter Me

When it comes to death threats, Mojisola Adeyeye, director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), says she is not scared.

During the weekend, Adeyeye briefed media in Abuja, according to The Nation.

She claimed that the death threats came after the agency dismantled significant networks of phony drug distributors in Onitsha, Yaba, Idumota, and Kano.

She returned to Nigeria to serve her people after more than 30 years in the United States, the director-general stated.

She stated that the agency would remain steadfast in its dedication to safeguarding public health despite the risks.

For 37 years, I lived in the United States. I returned home for the service. I would have been at home there. And I tell folks that I’m a missionary here,” she added.

“There is no need for me to return home if missionaries could leave their comfort zones and join us in Nigeria.

Returning home is a sacrifice and is not simple. Even though I don’t see them, I have grandchildren. My daily dictionary does not include the word “fear.”

Despite the fact that I’m returning to serve, I still use common sense. Although I apply a lot of common sense, it applies to my employees as well as to myself.

The NAFDAC employees were conducting an inspection six months ago, hence I wasn’t the one who was assaulted and bleeding in Onitsha.

“One of our employees is here.” One day, I simply asked, “What happened?” while glancing at her arm. She claimed that she nearly died when they conducted an inspection.

Katsina: Armed Bandits Abduct Four University Students

According to reports, Dutsinma is one of the Katsina State local government districts that continues to face substantial security concerns, such as banditry and cattle rustling, despite continued attempts by the government and security services to address these issues.

At the time of publication, the state police spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, and other government authorities had made no official statements about the incident.

Nonetheless, a Daily Trust story indicates that security authorities have launched a search operation to securely rescue the stolen pupils.

In recent years, Nigeria has seen an alarming spike in student abductions, highlighting the country’s worsening security crisis.

In April 2021, gunmen attacked Greenfield University in Kaduna State, abducting at least 20 students and two staff members. Tragically, three of the kidnapped students were discovered dead after a few days.

After a month in captivity, the remaining 14 students were finally released.

In May 2024, Confluence University in Kogi State experienced a similar occurrence, with at least nine students taken from their classrooms.

Additionally, in February 2025, four female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue State, were kidnapped.

FAAN Suspends Operations on Lagos Airport Runway for Urgent Repairs

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos will temporarily close runway 18R/36L for maintenance, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The runway is being rehabilitated as part of continuous efforts to keep it in top condition, according to a statement released on Sunday by Obiageli Orah, director of public affairs and consumer protection.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria would like to notify the public that, as of 03:00 on March 3, 2025, and ending at 23:59 on March 4, 2025, Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos will be temporarily closed,” the announcement states.

“Ongoing asphalt phase rehabilitation work at the runway’s A2 Taxiway-link is the reason for the closure.”

Because all planes will be diverted to the alternate runway 18L/36R during that time, Orah promised that flight operations will not be affected.

The authority’s dedication to its basic principles of security, safety, and passenger comfort was reaffirmed by the director.

According to Olubunmi Kuku, managing director of FAAN, N580 billion is required to repair airport runways nationwide on January 15.

Regarding the condition of airport infrastructure, Kuku stated that numerous runways have outlived their useful lives and require immediate repair.

Labour Party Fires Back After Akpabio Asks Otti to Defect to APC

0

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has come under fire from the Labour Party’s leadership for asking Abia State Governor Alex Otti to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpabio was said to have commended Otti for his work in Abia State’s development.

On Saturday, he expressed my appreciation at Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s 70th birthday party and commended Otti for paying tribute to the former deputy president in spite of their divergent political views.

Nonetheless, he implied in a subtle way that Otti would gain more notoriety if he joined the APC.

“My governor, congratulations.” I have already begun to view your work, but since you are a member of the Labour Party, I am unable to stand here and give you praise. Thus, you are still in labor. By the time you visit APC, you will have heard what I have to say. You’ll hear my compliments about you. As Akpabio said, “I will celebrate you.”

LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, told Punch in an interview on Sunday that the Abia governor is loyal to the party and has no intention of switching allegiances.

It is acceptable for politicians to court other people. Governor Alex Otti has been courted by numerous parties, not just the APC. He is still with the Labour Party, though, and he has promised us that he is not leaving,” Ifoh said.

In addition, he contrasted the perceived shortcomings of states headed by the APC with the accomplishments of the LP.

He is a representative of the LP ideology, which is deserving of imitation if people are still courting him. The majority of APC states have been a complete failure, while our LP state is demonstrating a strong commitment to infrastructure, empowerment, and human development. Obiorah continued, “For this reason, we think the Labour Party is the best option for Nigerians.
