Tinubu Should Have Addressed Wike Like He Did Fubara on State of Emergency – Jega

0

The decision of President Bola Tinubu to say nothing about Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike during his statement on the political situation in Rivers State has been questioned by public affairs specialist Mahmud Jega.
As you may remember, President Tinubu particularly blamed Governor Siminalayi Fubara for culpability in the entire situation during his speech on Tuesday, when he proclaimed a state of emergency in Rivers State due to the political turmoil that has gripped the oil-rich state for several months.

Tinubu charged that Governor Fubara had destroyed the Rivers State House of Assembly and had not rebuilt it, among other things.

Talking about the development in an interview with Arise News on Wednesday, Jega argued that President Tinubu ought to have brought up Wike in his speech, just as he had brought up Fubara.

He said that the Rivers situation cannot be resolved unless Wike is addressed since he is a major contributor to its inception and continuation.

In my opinion, the President needs to have mentioned the FCT Minister, who is actually largely responsible for the development and continuation of this issue, in addition to listing the Governor’s wrongdoings. Is it common for a godfather to sit down in Abuja and start sowing discord and creating all sorts of issues in a state he used to rule?

Furthermore, in my opinion, the issue would never be resolved before 2027 if nothing were done about it.

According to reports, the Rivers State conflict is thought to be a power struggle between Fubara and Wike, his predecessor and estranged godfather.

Bloggers, Facebook, TikTok May Soon Require Physical Offices In Nigeria As Senate Bill Advances

A bill to alter the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, to require social media companies to have physical offices in Nigeria has advanced through the Nigerian Senate.
The proposed law was introduced by Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) and is titled “A Bill for an Act to Amend the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, to Mandate the Establishment of Physical Offices within the Territorial Boundaries of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by Social Media Platforms, and for Related Matters, 2025 (SB. 650).”
Nigeria’s significant digital footprint was highlighted by Senator Nwoko during the bill’s presentation. He pointed out that, with over 220 million people, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the second-most popular country in the world for social media use.

He claimed that Nigerians spend three hours and forty-six minutes a day on the internet, citing a “Global Web Index” survey that was cited by “Business Insider Africa.”

He noted that despite this high level of participation, major social media companies such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, and 𝕏 do not have physical offices in Nigeria, in contrast to other nations.

The lack of local offices raises a number of issues, including poor representation, negative economic effects, and challenges in implementing laws and data protection policies, as Senator Nwoko pointed out.

New Rules for Bloggers
The bill adds new regulations for Nigerian bloggers in addition to social media sites.

In any of the nation’s capital cities, it requires all bloggers to: – Open a verified office; – Keep accurate personnel records. Be a member of an established national blogger association with its main office located in Abuja.

These steps are intended to improve accountability, openness, and professionalism in Nigeria’s digital media landscape, bringing it into line with norms seen in traditional media organizations, according to Senator Nwoko.

He explained that the measure aims to promote equity and acknowledge Nigeria’s position as a significant player in digital engagement rather than unfairly targeting social media platforms.

Senate President’s Viewpoint
Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, emphasized the value of social media companies having local operations but warned that regulating bloggers required careful consideration.

“It’s nice to have an address, but bloggers are a little different,” he said. The best course of action, in my opinion, is for the measure to be given a second reading and then a public hearing for much more simplified clarity.

In order to create a framework for proper taxation and record-keeping for digital platforms operating in Nigeria, he clarified that the act should not be interpreted as an attempt to censor social media.

Senator Akpabio added: “We wait until it reaches the stage of public hearing because I was looking to see if it intends to gag bloggers, but I haven’t seen that.”

Within two months, the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity is anticipated to present its report on the measure.

Police Apprehend Woman Allegedly Supplying Guns and Drugs to Bandits

According to the Nigeria Police Force, recent coordinated tactical team operations resulted in the capture of money counterfeiters, drug traffickers, and arms smugglers.
According to reports, Olumuwiya Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer, made this claim in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the police spokesperson, Haruna Sani, who is accused of providing bandits with weapons, was taken into custody by members of the Force Intelligence Department-Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).

The crew also detained Solomon Bala, Joseph Matthew, and Usman Yahaya in February for allegedly trafficking hard drugs, including codeine syrups, in Postiskum.

It stated: “On December 23, 2024, at around 5:50 PM, FID-STS agents stopped a 30-year-old woman named Hauwa Sani who lived in Doro village along the Keffi/Abuja Expressway. She was discovered hiding inside a 5-liter container of palm oil with 124 rounds of live ammo of various calibers. She admitted that she was given the assignment of delivering the ammunition to Katsina State by a Nasiru from Daura. Numerous other recoveries and arrests that are being profiled are the result of other investigations. The public is advised to exercise caution and to stay aware of these smugglers’ antics. Items that seem suspicious should be reported right away to the relevant authorities.

In a separate operation on February 1st, 2025, FID-STS agents, acting on reliable information, apprehended Solomon Bala “m,” 25, Joseph Matthew “m,” and Alhaji Usman Yahaya “m,” 50, all of whom lived in Postiskum, Yobe State. While delivering thirty cartons of codeine syrups and other hard drugs throughout Postiskum, the suspects were caught. The drugs were meant to be supplied to kidnappers, Boko Haram rebels, and bandits who terrorize Yobe State and neighboring nations, they admitted.

Additionally, on February 3, 2025, FID-STS agents captured Yusuf Dantani, age 24, Usman Labaran, age 32, and Musa Mohammed, age 23, armed with ten AK-47 weapons. After being questioned, the suspects admitted to participating in multiple gun trades and accepting N3,980,000 (three million nine hundred and eighty thousand naira) in exchange for the final shipment of weapons they were expected to exchange.

According to Adejobi, the force is still committed to bringing offenders to justice and dismantling illicit enterprises.

By giving prompt, correct information that can help with crime prevention and detection, he urged the people to continue supporting police operations.

Rivers PDP Moves Against Wike, Says Amaewhule and 26 Lawmakers Are Not Members

0

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been warned by the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that if the state’s ongoing political turmoil persists, he could be expelled.
Robinson Ewor, the PDP’s acting state chairman, charged the former governor with a number of anti-party acts during a news conference in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
According to reports, Ewor stated that depending on how badly Wike behaved, these activities might result in his suspension or expulsion from the party.

“The party has a mechanism in place for dealing with such issues,” Ewor said. The state executive committees, the NEC, and the NWC have the authority to take action against anyone who is threatening the party. Nyesom Wike will face consequences for his anti-party actions, including suspension or expulsion, if we have complete control of the party in Rivers State.

Among the accusations made by the PDP against Wike is that his activities have damaged the party’s reputation. The interim chairman said that Wike’s allegiance now lay with the All Progressives Congress (APC) rather than the PDP, citing his current role as a minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet.

You can’t serve two masters, and Wike is part of Tinubu’s administration. His actions have tarnished the PDP’s prestige and undermined it. When the time is right, we will act,” Ewor continued.

The Supreme Court’s recent ruling that Martins Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers had not left the party was also criticized by the PDP.

With the help of an affidavit submitted to the Abuja High Court and their public declaration of defection on the House of Assembly floor, the PDP maintains that the members, including Amaewhule, had already defected to the APC.

“The Supreme Court may have made a legal error,” Ewor said. Amaewhule and the other twenty-six have left the PDP. They had defected prior to the ruling, and we have proof that the APC welcomed them, including the affidavit they provided.

The PDP stated support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his attempts to carry out the Supreme Court’s decision for the good of Rivers State, notwithstanding the lingering conflict.

In the interest of the state, Ewor urged the 27 parliamentarians to change their minds and abide by the decision.

“We applaud Governor Fubara’s dedication to the ruling of the Supreme Court. We implore the 27 lawmakers to follow the governor’s lead and concentrate on what will be best for Rivers State’s citizens,” he stated.

The PDP made one more plea, urging Nyesom Wike to “sheath his sword” and let Rivers State return to peace. Such a step would enable Governor Fubara to focus on governance and give the state the leadership it needs during this crucial period, Ewor underlined.

“We implore Wike to let the peace reign so the governor can concentrate on the state’s progress. Ewor came to the conclusion that this fight is taking attention away from the job that must be done for the benefit of the Rivers people.

Nigerian Ministers, Senators Focus on Me Instead of Work – Bobrisky Reacts

Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, is a Nigerian crossdresser who claims he was not aware of his “special” status until Nigerian senators and ministers started talking about him during his 2024 encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bobrisky reportedly revealed this while discussing the betrayals that sent him into exile and his love relationships with national celebrities.
The crossdresser admitted to having intimate relationships with seven Nigerian celebrities in the Snapchat video.

“There are fake people in the country that I will expose,” Bobrisky said when he announced plans to reveal the identities of the celebrities.

Bobrisky went on to say that although Nigeria would never write “female” on his passport, his gender preference is accepted where he is now.

“I will soon be able to list seven Nigerian celebrities that I have dated,” he claimed. I will soon expose the dishonest people in that nation.

“Until last year, when senators and ministers began talking about me, I had no idea how unique I was.” Consider a minister quitting his job to devote himself to Bobrisky. Do I really matter?

“They would never write “female” on my driver’s license or passport if I lived in Nigeria for a hundred years. I am respected for who I am here, though.

“IPOB Urges FG: Release Nnamdi Kanu to End Monday Sit-at-Home”

0

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have reaffirmed that the current South-East Monday sit-at-home is a Ndigbo protest over the continuous detention of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, rather than a mandate.
IPOB denied allegations that it is implementing the weekly shutdown in a statement sent by Emma Powerful, the party’s media and publicity secretary. The group maintained that the civil action can only be terminated by Kanu’s unconditional release.
While disregarding the true problem—the yearning for justice and self-determination—IPOB charged that the Nigerian government was sullying its reputation through intimidation and extortion.

IPOB Rejects Claims and Demands Kanu’s Release
“As a disciplined self-determination movement that has long distanced itself from the Nigerian military and government, the noble family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, worldwide wish to categorically notify them that they cannot blackmail IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) with Monday sit-at-home,” the statement said.

IPOB emphasized that Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release is the only way to halt the sit-at-home protests. According to the group, Kanu’s imprisonment is being used against Ndigbo as an instrument of oppression, which is encouraging further resistance.

The Function of ESN in Preserving Biafra Land
The statement emphasized the Eastern Security Network’s (ESN) contribution to Ndigbo safety, asserting that their action had stopped state-sponsored terrorists from transforming the area into a “mass grave.”

ESN agents are suffering greatly as a result of stopping terrorists who pose as ranchers. The goal of the Nigerian government and military’s continuous targeting and blackmailing of ESN is to eliminate all Biafran defenses. According to the group, ESN is still Ndigbo’s last line of defense.

IPOB claims that despite the Nigerian military’s inability to defend native tribes from terrorist attacks nationwide, they are still determined to crush IPOB and ESN.

The government is allegedly using sit-at-home orders to undermine IPOB.
IPOB said that the Nigerian police and army were deliberately using the sit-at-home demonstrations as a means of undermining the movement.

They claimed that in order to give the impression that IPOB is responsible for the disturbances, security personnel have begun making arrests of young men on Mondays in rural areas.

“In the name of enforcing a sit-at-home that IPOB had already suspended, the Nigerian government hired heartless criminals known as Autopiloters to pose as IPOB and ESN, kill, and destroy.” The organization claimed that their goal was to deceive Ndigbo into thinking that IPOB was ruining their economy.

Today, Sitting at Home Is a Sign of Opposition to Injustice
The group maintains that Ndigbo have freely decided to observe the Monday sit-at-home as an act of resistance, despite the government’s efforts to discredit IPOB.

Following its first successful compliance, the IIPOB started and discontinued the Monday sit-at-home program. The Nigerian Army and Police are involved in the harsh implementation of the sit-at-home, which we have consistently denounced. Nonetheless, Ndigbo people who choose to spend Mondays at home do so out of support for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, our leader who has been unlawfully kidnapped and imprisoned,” the statement continued.

Attempts to Quiet the Movement Are Rejected by IPOB
IPOB reiterated that the Nigerian government had long mistreated the Igbo people politically, socially, and economically, and that no amount of threats or military action could persuade Ndigbo to give up their cause.

“It is impossible for the Nigerian Army to defeat IPOB with gunfire and extortion, thus they should abandon the plan. The core idea of IPOB is one of survival. The group said that the IPOB ideology is strengthened by Nigeria’s continued rejection and oppression of Ndigbo.

Demand Conversation and the Release of Kanu
Instead of employing military intimidation, the statement called on the administration to have genuine discussions. It made the case that addressing the underlying issue—Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing detention—is the only way to actually put an end to the sit-at-home protests.

“The Nigerian military should concentrate on actual security threats rather than attempting to stifle a voluntary, non-violent civil action,” stated IPOB. To gain the trust of its people, any responsible administration would hold talks, but in Nigeria, military coercion and force are used in every situation.

In closing, IPOB said that blackmailing IPOB and ESN would not alter the people’s desire and urged the Nigerian government and Southeast governors to free Nnamdi Kanu if they truly wanted the Monday sit-at-home to cease.

Three Ebonyi Commissioners Lose Privileges, Face Suspension Over Absenteeism

Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi, punished three commissioners for their unapproved absences from Monday’s State Executive Council meeting.
Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, reportedly revealed the most recent development during a briefing on the executive council meeting’s outcome on Tuesday.
The Commissioners that are impacted are Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies).

The Commissioners were suspended for a month, according to Okpor, who also emphasized that the Governor had issued a warning against public servants’ tardiness and lack of commitment to their jobs.

He added that Nwifuru gave the order to strip the suspended commissioners of all office-related benefits for the term of the suspension.

The Information Commissioner added that Nwifuru cautioned all State contractors working on government projects to move quickly in accordance with their contracts.

The government will not think twice about using all available legal methods to enforce compliance, he threatened.

In other news, Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, has been accused by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council of ignoring warnings of a possible attack by suspected Fulani herders, which resulted in the terrible events that occurred in Amegu Nkalaha, Ishielu Local Government Area.

According to reports, the attackers broke into the neighborhood early on Sunday morning and destroyed a large number of buildings, turning them to ashes.

In a statement, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the group’s national president, asserted that the youth wing had warned the governor four days prior to the February 2 attack, which resulted in multiple fatalities and property destruction.

The council warned that if immediate action is not taken, further violence may break out due to the growing number of Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Corps Member Apologizes for Outburst: “Sorry If You Felt Offended

0

Ushie Uguamaye, commonly known as Raye, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos, has apologized for “talking down” about Lagos after becoming viral for criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The Corps member apologized for her language choice and admitted that her remarks might have upset Lagos people in an Instagram post on Monday.
She stressed that her goal was to offer her candid observations as a guest, not to disparage individuals who live in Lagos.

She clarified that the contentious statement was a component of a larger campaign, a 30-day rant challenge designed to draw attention to urgent problems in Nigeria.

She stated, “I want to start by saying that if anything I said offends anyone who was born and raised in Lagos State, I sincerely apologize.” I apologize.

However, as a tourist, I could see that the air quality and atmosphere here differed. I apologize if the way I phrased it made you feel anything or made you adore your native state. I didn’t mean to disparage your place of birth.

She continued by saying that her original goal was to publish 20 movies that addressed different societal issues in the hopes of igniting discussion by the twentieth day.

But the first video went viral almost instantly, connecting with a lot of Nigerians who were frustrated like her.

“I stated at the beginning of the 30-day rant challenge that all I wanted was to be heard. People would start to listen to me and join me in speaking to the authorities, I thought, if I made it to DAY-20.

“I wanted to complain in at least 20 videos until I got attention.” Fortunately for me, Day 1 of the challenge was sufficient to persuade people to join me, so I didn’t even need to make it to Day 2 because many of us were genuinely furious.

“I want to improve myself. I hope you do as well. Regardless of the “lifestyle” you believe I lead, the grievances I raised are legitimate.

You can’t even feel alive on the weekends after working all week,” she said.

Nigerian Air Force Delivers Major Blow to Boko Haram in Borno

Targeting Boko Haram rebel hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa, which are situated in the Mandara Mountains in Borno State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has achieved notable success in a precision attack.
The terrorist organization suffered significant losses as a result of the March 16, 2025, airstrike.
Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, said in a statement that the strike was predicated on reliable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) reports that pinpointed important rebel hiding places in the region.
A high-level meeting of Boko Haram leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters, who were reportedly assembling in the area, was the target of the operation, according to reports.

The airstrike, which targeted reinforced command hubs with solar-powered equipment in the rough terrain, was carried out under cover of darkness, according to the NAF’s statement. The militants were caught off guard by the surprise strike made possible by this calculated move.

According to Ali’s announcement, “On March 16, 2025, the NAF carried out a devastating nocturnal airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa in a daring display of air power and precision night warfare capabilities.” The operation disrupted the militants’ activities and dealt a devastating blow to their stronghold by targeting insurgent pockets deep into the perilous Mandara Mountains.

The presence of heavily defended structures at the Degbewa area was confirmed by surveillance operations to be a major insurgent assembly point.

The NAF’s prompt action in reaction to this intelligence resulted in a successful, targeted attack that damaged crucial command and logistics infrastructure.

The night operation’s successful completion demonstrated the NAF’s increasing efficacy in both day and night operations. Numerous terrorists were killed by the airstrike, which also caused massive flames and damaged vital insurgent infrastructure.

“This night operation’s successful execution highlights the NAF’s increasing dominance in both day and night air power capabilities, demonstrating that insurgents can no longer operate under cover of darkness,” Ali continued.

The NAF has reaffirmed its will to keep up its unrelenting efforts to destroy terrorist networks and bring peace back to the area. The NAF wants to make sure that insurgents no longer take refuge in the area by conducting persistent airstrikes.

“The NAF remains committed to using its formidable air power to neutralize terrorist networks and restore lasting peace to the region through relentless precision strikes and sustained air operations,” Ali said in closing.

Sunday Ogini Alleges Kwankwaso’s Corruption

Rabiu Kwankwaso allegedly failed to send money he gathered for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) during the 2023 election, according to Sunday Ogini, the party’s former chairman of Ogun State.
Ogini reportedly claimed that Kwankwaso, the party’s former presidential candidate, was to blame for the party’s political turmoil.
The NNPP Chieftain charged the former Kano State Governor with giving preference to his Kwankwasiyya group while ignoring other state residents in an interview with News Central on Monday.
According to the former chairman of the Ogun NNPP, Kwankwaso was extremely corrupt. He questioned his moral character as president of Nigeria.

“He gathered all the funds intended for the nomination forms and moved all the election materials, including the situation rule, to his Maitama home,” he said. At Maitama’s house, he was performing extra subtraction, writing down the names of people he liked and party members he didn’t like, then throwing them away to ensure that only Kwankwasiyya candidates were being elected to office or becoming governors of state or representatives.

“Even prior to the general election in 2023, Kwankwaso and his group were responsible for a number of these horrible acts. He failed to submit any of the funds he had raised, donations, or anything else for the 2023 election party, including auditory reports. We brought him to the EFCC to come and answer questions because the party suggested that we write to the agency. I personally signed the letter.

“This is a very corrupt man who is telling Nigeria that he wants to be the country’s president, rather than going there to answer questions.” He went to a Kano court to defend himself after escaping the EFCC. According to the Kano State High Court, they shouldn’t look into him for that.
