Rights activists have began a call for the prosecution of a middle aged man, Christopher Ogboji, for defiling a 21 year old virgin in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The condemnable act of rape by Christopher Ogboji the MD/CEO of Sherrif Tutu Joint along David Mark Bypass of a 21 year old in Makurdi last night has filled a vast majority of Benue people and online readers with anger and rage.
Reacting to the dastardly act, a Benue based humanitarian and philanthropist Ukan Kurugh who revealed the incident on his Facebook handle promised to reveal the identity of the culprit which he later disclosed.
”The perpetrator who runs a Bar at David Mark Bypass is married with kids and one wonders why he would engage in such a morally reprehensible behavior.” Kurugh wondered.

He added that the victim, aged 21(a virgin) who is his staff was forcefully deflowered by him yesterday when she came to present him with the records book.
”As earlier informed FIDA, Mrs. Josephine Haba, Mrs Victoria Egwor Daaor , Myself and a few others are on the case to ensure justice.
”As stated in the headline, his name is CHRISTOPHER OGBOJI and his joint is SHERIFF TUTU at David Mark Bypass, Makurdi.
”Justification is my defense for those who would want to bring in legal sentiments to this update. Justice must prevail.” – He concluded.
Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu has assured the people of Oko clan in Orokam district of Ogbadibo local government area that the problem of gully erosion ravaging their community will receive the needed attention of the Benue State government.
Engr Abounu spoke today while receiving a delegation of Opiatoha Oko Development Association led by its National President, Chief Joseph Obekpa at his office at the Benue Peoples’ House, Makurdi.
He directed the state Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment, Engr Dondo Ahire, who was there during the courtesy call to undertake an assessment visit to the area to do an on-the-spot assessment of the extent of the devastation with a view to taking necessary action.
Engr Abounu, who thanked the people of Orokam for their consistent support for the government said the Ortom administration is working hard to make life more meaningful for the people.
Earlier, the leader of delegation, Chief Joseph Obekpa expressed the joy of the Oko, Orokam people on the well-deserved victory of Governor Samuel Ortom in the March 2019 Governorship election as well as the tribunal and court of Appeal judgments.
They thanked Engr Abounu and Governor Ortom for the appointment of their son, Chief Tony Egwu as Executive Secretary. Benue State Health Insurance Agency and assured them that he will deliver on the job creditably to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Chief Obekpa, who complained about the devastation caused by the menace of gully erosion in the community, and the danger to houses and the link road to Orokam centre, called on the government to urgently come to their aid.
He also appealed for the up-grading of the dispensary at Court-Oko to bring health care services to the people as well as the provision of potable water.
Mrs Veronica Onyeke, Benue State Head of Service and indigene of Orokam attended the meeting, together with Hon. Joseph Odaudu, Hon. James Uloko and Barr. Jacob Ogwuche, all special advisers to the governor.
President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja disclosed that he would like to bequeath to the country a modernised and motivated Police Force.
Speaking during the commissioning of operational vehicles and other assets, at the Police Headquarters, the President said:
“My vision is to bequeath to our nation a legacy of a reformed, modernised, fully-equipped, highly-motivated, and citizens-focused Police Force that is re-oriented to the virtues of professionalism, respect for rule of law, due process and best international practices in their operations.”
According to him, “It is in cognisance of this that I approved the re-adjustment of Police emoluments as well as the recruitment of ten thousand (10,000) extra police personnel on an annual basis to motivate and enhance the manpower of the Force. It is also in this regard that I assented to the Police Trust Fund Bill to act as a public-private funding framework that will address funding shortages for the Police on a sustainable basis.”
President Buhari, who acknowledged the funding challenge facing the Force, pledged that the Federal Government will continue to enhance funding as well as work towards meeting manpower requirements and welfare needs of the Force.
He noted that the full commencement of the “Nigeria Police Trust Fund will further assist in meeting the operational and logistics requirements of the Force,” adding that to “give immediate effect to the Police Trust Fund Act, I have directed the Minister of Police Affairs to fast track the process of its take-off.”
Notwithstanding the achievements so far recorded by the Force, President Buhari charged its leadership to “avoid complacency in the efforts towards ridding the country of crimes.”
He enjoined the leadership of the Force “to continue to give new orientation to officers of the Force such that they can appreciate the virtues of policing with civility and within the dictates of the law and ensure that the institution regains its position of confidence and respect from Nigerians.”
The President said that officers and other personnel of the Police Force “must take cognisance of the fact that, in the discharge of your duties, you shall not only be judged by the number of crimes you have stopped or the number of convictions you have secured, but also the extent to which the process of achieving your statutory mandate conforms to professional and legal standards.”
Stressing that security of lives and property of Nigerians is a constitutional obligation, President Buhari said the “Police is central to the process of meeting this obligation,” adding that “It is for this reason that I have always prioritized the Police as a critical agency in the internal security architecture of the country.”
Commending the leadership of the Police for keying into his administration’s Next Level agenda in relation to strengthening institutional capacity towards addressing internal security challenges, the President noted the reforms being undertaken by the Inspector-General of Police “as well as strategies that he has put in place in guaranteeing the efficiency of the Force.”
He said he was “particularly impressed with the technology-led and intelligence-driven models which have combined to bring about the stabilization of the security situation in the country.”
Noting that his delight was against the background that the “Inspector General of Police inherited internal security situation that was threatened by the heinous activities of bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and other highly organised criminals in some parts of the country,” President Buhari added that the “nature of these crimes affected public confidence in the capacity of the Police to protect them.”
He, however, expressed “confidence that the strategies put in place and the quality of the leadership being provided for the current Police Force, will bridge the gap between the citizens and the police as well as increasingly restore public confidence and enhance the operational capacity of the Police.”
Acknowledging that the Police Force “has been collaborating effectively with State Governments, strategic stakeholders, and other security agencies to restore security in States that were hitherto confronted with the menace of banditry,” President Buhari also commended the capacity of the Inspector-General of Police “to efficiently manage limited resources available to the force.”
The President, who also commissioned the Nigeria Police National Command and Control Centre (NPF-C4i) and the first phase of the Nigeria Police Crime and Incident Data Base (NPC & IDB) Centre, urged the Police leadership to sustain its “zeal for service to the nation.”
Earlier in their remarks, the 20th Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, had commended President Buhari for his consistent support to the Police Force.
…Food Security, Agro Exports Promotion and Livelihoods Improvement, key development objectives of APPEALS
The World Bank-FGN joint 4th Implementation Support Mission, ISM of the APPEALS Project has opened in Lagos with two participating states: Kogi and Lagos co-hosting. The Mission in Lagos which started on December 18th is to run through four days.
The Mission, led by World Bank Senior Agriculture Economist and Task Team Leader of the APPEALS Project, Dr. Adetunji Oredipe has as participants, the Project Implementation Units, PIUs of Kogi and Lagos State Coordination Offices; National Coordination Office, Officials of the World Bank; Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Federal Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the Mission Objectives and Guidelines today in Lagos, the Task Team Leader, Dr. Adetunji Oredipe who is leading his first official mission as TTL of the APPEALS Project said: “My idea of the Implementation Support Mission in the World Bank is to let you know that we are in this together. We are not here on an evaluation mission. We are here to support you. I urge you all to freely express your minds on ways to advance the Project to successful implementation”.
Dr. Oredipe harped on the need for all Project activities to be focused on the key development objectives of the Project for which the priority value chains were selected, adding that the Project must be able to showcase results that demonstrate in tangle forms, how its activities have contributed to food security, agro exports promotion and the improvement of livelihoods for beneficiaries.
The National Project Coordinator, Dr. Amin Mohammed Babandi represented by the National Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist – Mr. Adekunle Adesoye said “the purpose of the Mission is to map out ways to move faster than we are moving now and to demonstrate possibilities for agribusiness, increase contribution to GDP and contribute meaningfully to economic growth. It is expected that at the end of this Mission, we should come up a workable work plan that addresses the development of the priority value chains within the next 12 months”
Former Task Team Leader – Dr. Sheu Salau in his remarks urged the Project Implementation Units, PIUs to bear in mind, the result framework of the project and to ensure that for every activity embarked upon, the activities are gauged in relation to how far it will take the project closer to its targets results.
The two participating states in the mission are presenting their implementation reports to show progress made so far in the respective states along their priority value chains.
As part of the Mission in Lagos, the team will embark on field visits to identified clusters in the priority value chains at locations in Ikorodu and Badagry to wrap up the exercise which has previously held in two locations – Kaduna (for Kaduna and Kano State Coordinating Offices) and in Calabar (for Cross River and Enugu State Coordinating Offices) respectively.
The farmers under the cluster are engaged in the poultry value chain including broilers, layers, cockerels and turkey production. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Kano urged the Nigeria Police Force to uphold the trust reposed on them by Nigerians by maintaining professionalism in their operations.
Commissioning 628 Cadets of the Regular Course Two of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, the President, who was the Special Guest of Honour, also charged the police to be gallant and courageous in the fight against crimes in the country.
President Buhari reaffirmed that his administration would continue to work hard to make Nigeria safe and secure.
Stressing that the Nigeria Police Force remains the critical pillar of the domestic security agenda, the President said it is important to have ‘‘orderly, disciplined and modern police officers.’’
He told the graduating officers: “As you attain this milestone, I implore you to operate professionally, gallantly and courageously as we continue to make Nigeria a safe and secure country for all law abiding individuals.
‘‘You will soon commence your operational duties. Therefore, you must always remember that Nigeria and indeed, Nigerians have entrusted to you the assignment to protect their lives and properties.
‘‘This trust must be taken very seriously while upholding the principle of civil policing leveraging on national and international best practices.
“On our part, we will continue to fund and support the Nigeria Police Force and its institutions to ensure you deliver on your mandate. This is why we created a dedicated Ministry of Police Affairs,’’
The President, who congratulated the cadets on successfully passing through the rigorous academic and professional training in the institution, said the Academy was established to produce superior police officers equipped with the knowledge and skills to police Nigeria with its unique complexities.
In his remarks, the Commandant of the Academy, Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, appealed to the President to provide more financial support to the Academy to enable it cope with modern law enforcement strategies.
The Commandant also sought the support of the President for the Police Academy Bill currently before the National Assembly, noting that the proposed legislation would assist the Academy to fulfill the objectives of its establishment.
He announced that the Academy will soon introduce courses on cybercrime, gender issues, criminal justice and administration, public security, intelligence as well as peace and conflict resolution.
He said the introduction of these courses will justify the upgrade of the Academy to a university and ‘‘also contribute meaningfully to the minimization, if not, the eradication of the security challenges facing the country.’’
A major highpoint of the passing out was the presentation by President Buhari of a sword of honour to the best graduating cadet officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Peter Alogo Joseph.
The President also decorated a graduating officer, Lawal U. Abdullahi, symbolically commissioning all the 628 cadet officers to ASPs in the Nigeria Police Force.
Nigerian music stars Davido and Tiwa Savage have both taken to their social media accounts to issue a disclaimer to viral videos of them advertising an upcoming event by the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).
According to both stars who issued the disclaimers separately, they were fraudulently approached to comment on how God has been good to them, which they agreed to innocently.
Their disclaimers further state that at no time did they endorse COZA or it’s activities and the videos have been edited to deceive people.
Taking to his Twitter page earlier today, Davido breathed fire and brimstone as he made it clear that he has nothing to do with the church rather the said video was only created for a fan. He wrote:
“I’m writing to quickly disclaim the viral videos going around of me advertising COZA event to come up when I have to say I have NOTHING to do with the church!!! The fact that I did a quick video for a kid introduced as a fan just for her personal use and it was chopped up and used for an advert extremely disappoints me!!! I have never and most certainly not associated in any way with COZA church and have reached out to those responsible for this madness immediately!! I will most certainly be proceeding further if you do not react that video immediately!!! A word is enough!!!”
Tiwa Savage also took to her Twitter account and distanced herself from the videos writing:
“It has been brought to my attention that there is a viral video which incudes me advertising an upcoming COZA event. I want to state that I have nothing to do with the church and generally do not endorse their events. I’m extremely disappointed that I was fraudulently approached to simply comment on how good God has been to me and it has been wrongly edited to use my image to create an advert to deceive people. COZA this is wrong! I will be taking action if this is not immediately retracted.”
Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid has since retweeted Savage’s post as a sign of support for her stand against the church.
In recent times, COZA has been in the spotlight and not necessarily for good reasons as its global senior pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo was accused to have raped Buosla Fatoyinbo, the of singer, Timi Dakolo. Busola eventually sued Fatoyinbo although the case was dismissed in court as a sentimental one.
With the House of Representatives voting in favour of his impeachment today, US President Donald Trump has registered his name in history, albeit for a reason he would like not to be associated with. With today’s impeachment vote, Donald Trump has become only the third president in 240 years of US history to be impeached.
The Democratic-led House passed the abuse of power article of impeachment on a largely party-line 230-197 vote. The House then proceeded with a vote on the second article of impeachment charging him with obstruction of Congress. The second article was passed by a 229-198 vote.
Democrats led Wednesday night’s voting, framed in what many said was their duty to protect the Constitution and uphold the nation’s system of checks and balances. Republicans stood by their party’s leader, who has frequently tested the bounds of civic norms. Trump called the whole affair a “witch hunt,” a “hoax” and a “sham,” and sometimes all three.
Donald Trump faced impeachment on two grounds:
(1) He is accused of abusing his office by asking Ukraine to start corruption investigations against Joe Biden, a former US vice-president who is also the leading Democratic contender in the 2020 US Presidential election. This in effect means trying to influence the election by pressuring a foreign country to investigate his rival candidate and smear his image;
(2) Donald Trump is accused of obstructing Congress from investigating this case.

DONALD TRUMP’S REACTION BEFORE IMPEACHMENT
Donald Trump, who began Wednesday tweeting his anger at the proceedings, then flew to Battle Creek, Michigan, for a political rally.
He pumped his fist before an enthusiastic crowd, boasted of “tremendous support” in the Republican Party and said, “By the way, it doesn’t feel like I’m being impeached.”
As the debate unfolded, Trump on Twitter called the proceedings “AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA” and on his party.
A day before House of Representative voted in favour of his impeachment, Donald Trump wrote a strong-worded letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In the letter, Donald Trump said the impeachment proceedings against him are a “total sham”.
Donald Trump accused Nancy Pelosi of engaging in “perversion of justice” by allowing the impeachment proceedings.
Denouncing the investigation, Trump said it is an “attempted coup” and said the Democrats are doing it to undo the 2016 US Presidential election when he defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote a letter to all 232 Democratic members and urged them to abide by the constitution. The letter said: “Very sadly, the facts have made clear that President Donald Trump abused his power for his own personal, political benefit and that he obstructed Congress as he demanded that he is above accountability, above the Constitution and above the American people.”
EXPLAINED: CHARGES DONALD TRUMP FACES
Abuse of power:
The first charge that Donald Trump faces is that he abused his power. In the present context (i.e. impeachment), abuse of power means that as President of the United States of America, Donald Trump used the immense powers vested in his office for personal benefit.
According to the US Constitution, a President can be removed from office on grounds of “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanours”.
Though going by letter of the law, ‘abuse of power’ per se is not an impeachable offence, however, legal scholars have opined that the intent of the founders of the United States of America was that the phrase “other high crimes and misdemeanours” broadly encompasses abuse of power, Reuters said in a report.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has commissioned the newly completed office complex for the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) in Abuja.
While inaugurating the complex, Buratai said that NARC has become a service think-tank with national and global outlook.
He commended the centre for achieving its mandate of providing research based solution to national security issues.
Buratai added that the centre collaborates with relevant agencies to organise seminars and workshops on national security as well as organise courses in different areas.
According to him, NARC is also collaborating with global institutions such as Kings College London, United Services of India and Harvard Kennedy School, US as well as Royal United Services Institute in London to carry out research.
“It is gratifying to be here to see the progress that has been made not only in the physical structure but indeed in the academic and intellectual exercise that has been carried out here at the resource centre.
“The collaboration of the centre within the short time of its establishment with both national and international institutions is highly commendable,“ he said.
Buratai pledged to handover the Nigerian Army Museum to the centre when the new one at Muhamnadu Buhari Cantonment in Giri, Abuja is completed.
Earlier, the Director General of NARC, Maj.-Gen. Garba Wahab retired, said that the centre had worked tirelessly to deliver on its mandate.
Wahab commended the Chief of Army Staff and board of trustees of the centre for their continuous support for the centre and provision of a befitting new office complex.
He said that the management and staff of the centre were committed to ensuring that the centre would be at par with other global research centres.
Wahab, however, called on Buratai to provide for support to enable NARC become a leading centre of excellence with the capacity to generate ideas toward addressing issues of defence and security.
He said the NARC complex would drive the core value of which the centre was established which is optimising Nigerian national security.
According to him, the new office complex project, which started in February, is equipped with world class facilities with capacity to provide research based solutions.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include, former Minister of Interior and Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), Amb. Babagana Kingigbe and Sen. Ben Bruce amongst others.
With sustained tenacity to rid the entire country of criminal elements for a safer and conducive environment, particularly as the Yuletide season approaches, troops of the Nigerian Army have continued to intensify their operations against all forms of criminality across the country.
In the North East Theatre of operations, troops of 5 Brigade in conjunction with elements of 5 Brigade Field Ambulance deployed at Damasak the administrative headquarters of Mobbar LGA of Borno State conducted a Free Medical Outreach and Immunisation Exercise on 12 December 2019 at North Wango Village of the same LGA. The Exercise is the brain child of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai under the Buratai Intervention Task Force as a non-kinetic engagement by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE to compliment both governmental and non-governmental agencies in real – time health delivery to communities in the North East theatre of operation.
During the exercise, a total of 207 children were immunized with Polio vaccine while 122 adults equally benefitted from the Free Medical Outreach which include, medical consultations, health advisory, diagnosis, administration of drugs, eye test and distribution of free medical eye glasses among others.
In another development, troops of 68/94 Battalions deployed at Malam Fatori in Abadam LGA of Borno State conducted a successful Ambush Operation at a Boko Haram crossing point on 15 December 2019. The troops came in contact with some marauding Boko Haram criminals and instinctively engaged them with superior fire power that sent the criminals scampering in disarray, many of them with varying degrees of gunshot wounds. The unrelenting troops immediately went on a hot pursuit and recovered one body of a Boko Haram insurgent and several fragments of the criminals’ equipment shattered by the troops’ Rocket Propelled Gun fire along the criminals’ withdrawal route.
Similarly, troops of 251 Task Force Battalion deployed at Njimtilo Check Point in Konduga LGA of Borno State while conducting a Stop and Search operation on 9 December 2019 arrested one Boko Haram Logistics Supplier, Umar Rawa Gana who was conveying 300 cartons of engine oil intended for delivery to Boko Haram criminals. Equally, on 11 December 2019, troops of 195 Battalion deployed at Kadamari in Jere LGA of Borno State arrested a Boko Haram criminal, Kabiru Bana Chulu around Ladin Mbuta general area of same LG. During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being in possession of quantities of military camouflage uniforms which are criminally used by the insurgents.
In another development, on 10 December 2019, troops of 22 Brigade Garrison deployed at Dikwa in Dikwa LGA of Borno State while on a road clearance operations recovered one Rocket Propelled Gun bomb and one 36 Hand Grenade abandoned by Boko Haram criminals. However, the Unexploded Ordnance was safely detonated by the Explosive Ordnance Device Team of the Brigade.
Relatedly, troops on Operation MESA promptly responded to a distress call relating to an armed robbery incident on 8 December 2019 along Danwal – Haita in Riyom LGA of Plateau State. Unfortunately, the robbers had abandoned the location before the troops’ arrival. Nevertheless, troops exploited the general area and arrested one Pam Emmanuel. Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect is an informant to the criminals operating in the area. Similarly, same troops in conjunction with personnel of Department of State Service conducted a successful raid operation on 9 December 2019 at a cultist hideout in a hotel at Etto Baba, Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA of Plateau State. During the operation, 10 suspects comprising 8 males and 2 females were arrested with some quantities of substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
Additionally, on 9 December 2019, the troops conducted a sting operation based on reliable information and arrested 2 notorious armed robbers namely Eze Emema and Ifeanyi Ordu at Guralandok Junction of Rukuba in Jos North LGA of Plateau State. Suspects are believed to be part of the armed robbery gang that robbed one Mr Silas Dung and have been terrorising the general area.
In the South West and South South regions, troops on Exercise CROCODILE SMILE IV continue to emasculate criminal elements by denying them respite across the regions.
Instructively, on 8 December 2019, troops of 32 Artillery Brigade raided kidnappers hideouts at Ago – Agbede and Ago – Iba of Ilaje LGA of Ondo State. During the operation, troops recovered one Pump Action Rifle, one AK 47 Rifle magazine, 18 live cartridges and one gun case. Additionally, same troops smashed a suspected illegal oil bunkering site at Ilaje Ogoluwayo general area in Ilaje LGA of Ondo State. During the operation, one Endurance Okwudili was arrested while items recovered include 12 Dane guns, 5 live cartridges, 2 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one binocular, quantity 9 -25 litres jerricans of diesel suspected to be stolen product, 2 boat engines, one generating set, 2 car batteries, 6 Voters Cards and 2 National Identity Cards belonging to the criminals.
In another incidence, troops of 4 Brigade Garrison under Exercise CROCODILE SMILE IV on 10 December 2019 trailed a notorious armed robbery gang who have been terrorising Oghehe Community in Ikpoba – Okha LGA of Edo State. Resulting from the operation, 3 suspects were arrested and one cut to size gun with 5 live cartridges were recovered from the criminals. Relatedly, on 9 December 2019, troops of 343 Artillery Regiment on Exercise CROCODILE SMILE IV acting on reliable information, trailed and arrested one Mrs Tiebiye Adama (a community health worker) at Oluasiri Community in Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State. Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect has been involved in the treatment of militants with gunshot wounds after they escape encounter with troops.
In the North Central region, troops of Guards Brigade on Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA II conducted a patrol to Majaga Village in Toto LGA of Nassarawa State where some bandits were believed to be hibernating. During the night operation, 3 suspected bandits were arrested in possession of 3 Dane guns, live cartridges and charms. Relatedly, troops of Army Headquarters Garrison conducted a raid operation on 10 December 2019 at Bannex Plaza and Wuse II in Abuja Federal Capital Territory. Accordingly, troops arrested one notorious drug dealer, Ukasha Usman along with 13 other suspects in possession of large quantities of various types of illicit drugs.
In the South East region, troops of 144 Battalion (Rear) on Exercise ATILOGU UDO 1 promptly responded to a distress call on 11 December 2019 at GLO Office, Azikwe Street in Aba North LGA of Abia State. In another classical case of superb inter-agency solidarity and cooperation, it was revealed that 4 hoodlums reportedly attacked an Inspector of the Nigeria Police from 28 Mobile Police Squadron, Umuahia who was on duty at the GLO Office and took away his AK 47 Rifle with 29 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. The gallant troops pursued the escaping criminals, rescued the policeman and arrested one of the criminals named, Lawrence Obinna. Additionally, troops recovered the AK 47 Rifle with the 29 rounds of ammunition, a black Passat Wagon car with Registration Number GWB 547 AA ABIA and other personal belongings.

Nigerian Army Monday redeployed it’s recently-promoted Generals to various formations of the service.
Acting spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Col. Sagir Musa, in a statement, said the appointments were approves by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. TY Buratai.
He said: “Due to the recent promotion of some senior officers, it became imperative to deploy them to appropriate appointments to the new ranks.
“Consequently, the Nigerian Army has just released the postings and appointments of the affected officers.
“The posting which was approved by the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai is a routine exercise carried out to reinvigorate the system for greater professional effectiveness/efficiency.”
Musa also said “The highlight of the posting includes the appointment of Maj-Gen EO Ogunkale from Command Army Record Lokoja to Defence
Headquarters as Chief of Defence Standards and Evaluation, Maj Gen AO Uthman from Nigerian Army School of Signals, Apapa, Lagos to Defence Headquarters as Director Defence Communications, Maj Gen OO Soleye from Defence Headquarters to Headquarters Command Army Record Lokoja as Commander, Maj Gen YI Shalangwa the erstwhile Director Legal Services ‘Army’ now redeployed to Defence Headquarters as Director Legal Services, Maj Gen DC Onyemulu from Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Oshodi, Lagos becomes Director Armed Forces Simulation Centre, while Maj Gen HI Bature is redeployed from Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command, Minna to Defence Headquarters and appointed Director Liaison.
“Others include; Maj Gen IM Obot to remain at Nigerian Army Resource Centre as Participant Senior Executive Management and Policy Course, Maj Gen BO Sawyer to remain in Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans as Director Plans.
“Also Maj-Gen LA Adegboye the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division is to remain as GOC 82 Division, Maj Gen MA Masanawa from Army Central Ammunition Depot to Defence Headquarters and appointed Director Innovation and Combat Development.
Similarly, Maj-Gen G Oyefesobi from Defence Intelligence Agency to Headquarters of the recently created Nigerian Army Special Forces Corps as Commander, Maj Gen MM Bunza, the erstwhile commandant, Nigerian Military School, Zaria, is redeployed to Nigerian Army Education Corps as Corps Commander Education, Maj Gen DH Ali-Keffi from Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji to Defence Intelligence Agency and appointed Director of Administration, Maj Gen GO Adesina from Army Headquarters Department of Army Policy and Plans to Nigerian Army Signals School Apapa, Lagos as Commandant while Maj Gen PE Eromosele from National Defence College Abuja to Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Makurdi as Commandant.
