IWD22: Reps To Reconsider 3 Women Bills, Vote Next Week

0

Under pressure from women across the country, the House of Representatives rescinded its resolution on three gender bills it had previously thrown out during voting on 68 clauses of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

After an executive session on Tuesday, the House made the decision.

The decision came after women stormed the National Assembly again yesterday in protest of the bills’ rejection in both chambers of the National Assembly.

Women from all walks of life had been protesting the bills’ rejections, urging the National Assembly to reconsider the bills, which they claimed would give women more power in the country’s political development.

This comes as the wives of 36 state governors pledged to occupy the National Assembly yesterday to express their displeasure with the rejection of women-related bills.

The bills failed to pass last week during a vote on 68 amended clauses in the 1999 constitutional amendments, as previously reported.

Indigeneship, Citizenship, and the 35% affirmative action on Political Parties bill are among the bills that will be reconsidered.

The bills will be up for vote in four weeks, according to House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, who announced the House’s decision.

“That action is to rescind three of the decisions that were made on that day,” he explained (March 1). They’ll be up for voting in the next four weeks.”

In a situation where the voting results differed, Gbajabiamila said he would rely on the constitution to decide on the harmonization because the constitution allows the House to regulate itself.

“Let me just touch on the clause briefly. If there is a disagreement at that point, we will seek harmonization.

“The House can regulate its procedures under the constitution section.” He stated, “I will rely on the Constitution to harmonize.”

He summoned Abubarkar Fulata, the chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, to move that the House’s decision be overturned.

Fulata later moved the motion, which was seconded by Toby Okechukwu, the House’s deputy minority leader.

There were no disagreements during the speaker’s call for a voice vote on the development.

Women have taken to the streets once more. Bills that were rejected by the National Assembly

Meanwhile, scores of women’s organizations continued their protest at the National Assembly’s main gate yesterday, preventing many people from entering the complex.

They had promised not to leave until the bills were re-examined.

Last week, the women protested the lawmakers’ action under the aegis of Nigerian Women Groups, promising to return if the decision was not reversed.

They kept their word, returning in greater numbers yesterday and promising to keep protesting until lawmakers bowed to their demands.

They said women’s marginalization in the country must end, and they demanded an apology from lawmakers, as well as the names of those who voted against the bills, which they promised to publish for all to see.

The wives of governors have vowed to occupy the National Assembly of States in protest of bills that have been rejected.

Meanwhile, the wives of the federation’s 36 governors vowed to occupy the National Assembly yesterday to express their displeasure and disappointment over the rejection of women-related bills in plenary last week.

To mark International Women’s Day, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum, NGWF, and the First Lady of Ekiti State, Mrs Bisi Fayemi, issued a statement condemning what they called “blatant discrimination” against Nigerian women.

The First Ladies stressed that women’s voices and lives matter because they make up half of the country’s population, and that there can be no development without full and equal participation of women in all aspects of life.

They went on to say that any country that continued to deliberately stifle women’s advancement was simply stifling its own progress.

Mrs Fayemi promised that the governors’ wives would continue to engage with a wide range of stakeholders to support the proposed constitutional amendments that would make Nigeria’s constitution more gender-friendly.

According to her, as the wives of state executives, the first ladies will exert pressure on federal and state legislators to do the right thing and act as true representatives of the people, with women accounting for at least half of the legislature.

Remember that a bill last week in the upper legislative chamber that sought to give at least ten slots to women as ministers and commissioners in the federal and state governments failed.

There are a total of 88 senators who have registered to vote. A total of 44 senators voted yes, 43 senators voted no, and 1 senator abstained.

The bill, which was supposed to ensure women’s inclusion in governance, failed to pass because it lacked the 73 votes needed to pass.

“Every March 8th, communities all over the world gather to commemorate International Women’s Day, IWD,” the statement read. It’s a good time to reflect on women’s status, to point out the many ways in which their rights are still being violated, and to assess progress made.

“Today is a day for governmental and non-governmental actors, corporations, development partners, and social movements to commit to closing gender gaps and addressing the numerous challenges that women still face in public and private life.”

“The number of women in the National Assembly has steadily decreased over the last three electoral cycles (2011, 2015, and 2019).” Nigeria currently has 109 senators, with only seven of them being women.

“There are only 13 women in the House of Representatives, which has 360 members.” There are at least 14 state legislatures that have no female members. There are no female governors in the state. These alarming statistics show that there is a deep-seated bias against women in leadership positions, and unless immediate action is taken, the situation will worsen.

“On March 1, 2022, the National Assembly delivered some very disappointing news to Nigerian women. There are currently 68 amendments up for debate in the ongoing constitutional amendment. There are five bills aimed at ensuring gender equality and justice.

“The Bills are as follows:! A bill to increase women’s representation in the Senate and House of Representatives by adding more seats for them. This bill will level the playing field, resulting in a significant increase in the number of women in the National Assembly, which is currently at 5%. The bill was turned down.

“A bill to allow Nigerian women to transfer citizenship to their foreign husbands, which is a right that every Nigerian man married to a foreign spouse has.” The bill was turned down.

“A bill requiring at least 35% affirmative action in political party administration and appointive positions at the federal and state levels.” The bill was turned down.

“A bill to ensure that women make up at least 20% of ministerial or commissioner nominees.” The bill was turned down. After five years of marriage, a woman can become an indigene of her husband’s state. The bill was turned down.

“Our interpretation of what happened with this voting pattern in the National Assembly on March 1, 2022 is that Nigerian women’s progress was rejected.” All of the proposed constitutional amendments were intended to eliminate bias against women and to reduce, if not eliminate, the barriers that millions of women face because of their gender.

“We hereby condemn this blatant discrimination against Nigerian women in the strongest terms possible.” Our voices and lives matter because we make up half of the country’s population.”

Women can no longer be denied, according to Buhari.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022, President Muhammadu Buhari extolled Nigerian women, saying they were not where they should be in various fields of endeavor.

He, on the other hand, stated that they could no longer be denied for long periods of time because they had consistently demonstrated their ability to compete on all fronts and in all fields.

Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, made the announcement in a statement titled “International Women’s Day: President Buhari Salutes Womenfolk,” which he signed yesterday.

According to Buhari, the event, which is being held under the hashtag #BreaktheBias and the theme Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow, is an opportunity to reflect on the important roles women play in society, homes, governance, professions, and all walks of life.

He praised women’s contributions to the current administration as ministers, special advisers, senior special assistants, executive directors, executive secretaries, and a variety of other positions, noting that they were doing their jobs and making it impossible to dismiss their importance.

PDP crisis: Governor Obaseki Slams PDP Leaders, Saying, “You’re Free To Leave, I’m Not Going Anywhere.”

0

Governor Godwin Obaseki has advised those who are unhappy with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State to leave the party immediately.

Phillip Shaibu, Obaseki’s deputy, has complained that the party they joined after being forced out of the APC in September 2019 is not treating them well and has refused to accept them.

Instead of leaving the party, Governor Obaseki said those he met there when he joined in 2019 should go elsewhere if they are unhappy, adding that as his name fades, he will continue to win.

“Anyone who refuses to accept my leadership of the PDP in Edo State will defect to us.” It’s as simple as that, and we don’t like to brag, so we don’t say much, but you understand where we’re coming from,” Obasseki said Monday in Benin City to party stakeholders.

“And whoever is supporting any group outside of Edo State, please leave Edo alone,” he said. Edo should be left alone. Edo is unlike any other state in the country.

“Edo is Edo, and Edo is Edo.” During our Christmas gathering, I told you that I wouldn’t do anything or commit to anything unless I sat with each and every one of you… I’m not going to close the door behind you.

“So, whatever it is, let’s all come together as a family, sit down and talk about it, and decide where we want to go.” They’ve tried everything, and I told them, “Look, we’ve been through a lot of battles, but we’re not battle weary.”

“So, make it clear to everyone that no one has a monopoly on fighting.” Fighting is never a good thing. This is not the path we want to take. We need everyone to come together and work together to win an election. I had transferred from APC to PDP. Godwin is my name, and I always win,” he added.

Jonathan’s candidacy in 2023 will bring calm to the south-east, according to the Southern Group.

0

The Southern Network for Good Governance, a political pressure group, claims that a Goodluck Jonathan candidacy in 2023 will calm the “rage” in the south-east.

There has been a push for political parties to allocate their presidential ballots to the country’s southern regions.

The former president has expressed no interest in running for the nation’s highest office.

The group’s coordinator, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, said in a statement on Tuesday that having Jonathan run for president will “balance the interests of all sections of the country.”

“GEJ’s candidacy is useful in the current political expediency of balancing the interests of all sections of the country,” Chukwuemeka said.

“The south-west has been at the forefront of Nigeria’s structural reforms to reflect current realities, and GEJ has once again proven his commitment by convening the 2014 National Reform Conference.

“There is no doubt that GEJ will build on the successes of the Buhari administration’s restructuring efforts, particularly in the areas of the judiciary and local government autonomy.

“GEJ’s candidacy will assuage the rage of south-east youths who have been duped into a misunderstanding of the political equation because he is a relative.”

“The south-east can attest to Goodluck Jonathan’s array of political allies in the political, economic, and international spheres of endeavor.”

Nobody should be afraid, according to the coordinator, because Jonathan is not vengeful.

“He has demonstrated that he is not vengeful or hateful, but rather selfless and tolerant of all people, regardless of their political, social, or religious beliefs.” He stated, “GEJ is the national consensus.”

“A tried-and-true man is preferable to a million inexperienced ‘experts.'” In light of these circumstances, we require a national consensus rather than a quota president.”

Biden Imposes Ban On Russian Oil Imports To US

0

In retaliation for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, US President Joe Biden announced a ban on Russian oil and other energy imports on Tuesday, highlighting strong bipartisan support for a move that he acknowledged would raise US energy prices.

Biden told reporters at the White House, “We’re banning all imports of Russian oil and gas energy.” “This means Russian oil will no longer be accepted in US ports, and the American people will deal (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s war machine another powerful blow.”

Benchmark Brent crude LCOc1 for May rose 5.4 percent to $129.91 per barrel by 1345 GMT as a result of the news.
Biden has been working with European allies who are far more reliant on Russian oil to isolate Putin and Russia’s energy-intensive economy. Shortly before Biden’s remarks, the United Kingdom announced that it would phase out the import of Russian oil and oil products by the end of 2022. Sanctions imposed by the US and its allies, according to Biden, have already caused the Russian economy to “crater.” He stated that the most recent moves were made in close collaboration with allies and partners around the world.

Bamise Ayanwole: How My Bus Was Used To Kidnap Murdered 22-Year-Old – BRT Driver Confesses

0

Andrew Nice, the arrested BRT bus driver, has described how Oluwabamise Ayanwole was kidnapped in his bus.

The 22-year-old, who had been reported missing, was discovered dead on Carter Bridge in Lagos Island’s Ogogoro Community on Monday.

Nice was later apprehended by Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Ogun State and handed over to the Lagos Police Command.

The BRT driver was paraded by Lagos Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, at the Command’s headquarters in Ikeja following his arrest.

Nice revealed how the deceased was kidnapped, saying he chose her from Chevron and three other men along the way.

The three passengers, according to the BRT driver, showed him their guns and told him to cooperate.

Nice claimed that after seeing their weapons, he was no longer himself because he obeyed their orders.

The BRT driver said the assailants ordered him to stop and open the bus door when he arrived at Carter Bridge, as instructed by them.

Nice claimed that three men dragged Oluwabamise along with them after he opened the door.

He admitted that he couldn’t do anything while the deceased cried for help.

The driver claimed he fled rather than reporting the incident to the police because he was afraid.

“I picked her from Chevron, and the other three guys at…when those guys show me his weapon while I was inside, I can’t be myself anymore,” Nice says.

Ugwuanyi remains Nigeria’s most peaceful governor – Fr. Mbaka

0

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), said on Tuesday that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State remains the country’s most peaceful governor.

Rev. Fr. Mbaka went on to say that Ugwuanyi is a father to all and a very friendly governor who can’t live without making peace, emphasizing that “peace should be his name.”

The Spiritual Director said peace is in the Governor’s nature and “peace is in his integrity” when he led a delegation of Red Star Belgrade and Antalyaspor football clubs from Serbia and Turkey to the Government House in Enugu for a courtesy visit to Gov. Ugwuanyi.

The cleric explained to the Governor that the Serbian and Turkish delegations were “football Scouts who decided to use Enugu State for their scouting activity,” and that they had come to Enugu on behalf of Adoration Football Club.

Uche Dominic Egbukwu, CEO of UDE Sports Management Limited, who was recently appointed as the Sporting Director of Adoration Football Club in Enugu State (South East), praised Gov. Ugwuanyi for his calm demeanor and exceptional leadership qualities.

“Among all the eastern governors, you (Ugwuanyi) are number one in terms of not having any controversy,” he says. We hold you in high regard, as does the government of Enugu State. This is a peaceful place with no security issues, and the people of Enugu State adore you.”

Mr. Milos, the Sporting Director and Chief Scouts of Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade Football Club, thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for his hospitality and for welcoming them, and expressed optimism that they would find many players in Enugu following the scouting activity.

Gov. Ugwuanyi responded by welcoming the delegation to Enugu State and praising their choice of Enugu for the international sporting event.

The Governor assured them of his administration’s support, emphasizing that Enugu State is a peaceful state with a plethora of talents who can contribute to football’s global success.

“We will gain a lot if our people are discovered,” he said.

Rev. Fr. Mbaka and his team were praised by Gov. Ugwuanyi for their initiative to promote sports development in the state and beyond.

Senator Ademola Adeleke has been declared the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary held at the Osogbo City stadium in Osun State.

This comes as Prince Dotun Babayemi won a separate competition held at the WOCDIF centre in the state capital.

Senator Lawrence Ewurujakpo, the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor who led the party’s national congress committee, announced the results of the election held at the stadium, saying Senator Ademola received 1887 votes to win, while Mr Sanya Omirin received only four votes.

“Any other primary held outside of this location is void and will be disregarded.” The throne, the palace, and the authority are all present. “Any exercise that is not completed here will not be recognized,” he stated.

Senator Adeleke urged other aspirants to join him in rescuing the state from the All Progressives Congress’s misgovernance in his acceptance speech.

“There is no victor and no vanquished.” We are all victorious. Let us join forces to save the people of Osun state from the current APC administration. The people of Osun have already suffered enough under the current APC administration. Every day, pensioners pass away. Salaries are not being paid on time or at all. Our roads are in desperate need of repair. There is no way to bring water with you.

“Many of our communities are in the dark due to a lack of electricity, a lack of job opportunities for graduates, and a hostile environment for self-employment.” “I urge everyone to join hands with the good people of Osun state, and by God’s grace, the PDP will win on July 16, 2022,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Erelu Olusola Obada, and Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun attended the Wale Ojo faction’s exercise at WOCDIF, which produced Babayemi as its candidate.

The Chief Returning Officer, Hon Adelani Ajanaku, announced the results at WOCDIF, saying Dotun Babayemi received 1,781 votes and Sanya Omirin received 16.

The “Arm Our Youths Health Campaign,” a technology-driven anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer initiative, kicked off across Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme’s 37 orientation camps for Batch A, Stream One.

The NYSC is collaborating with the Nigeria Cancer Society and the Nigerian First Ladies Against Cancer, as well as another NGO, Sweet Home Humanitarian Foundation, to implement the program, which is an initiative of the Onyebuchi Chris Ifediora (OCI) Foundation, an international NGO.

It should be noted that, ahead of this nationwide roll-out, the OCI Foundation trained NYSC staff from 36 states and the FCT in October 2021. The training covered the features of the CerviBreast Mobile Phone App, a cancer-prevention app developed by the Foundation to aid in the early detection of breast and cervical cancers.

In collaboration with Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, the Foundation opened a digital cervical cancer screening center.

Mrs. Ujunwa Ubboe and Mrs. Helen Sakyenu, trained NYSC anchors for the Program in Anambra and Katsina States, informed corps members that the Cervi-Breast App would provide them with the necessary preventive information, including Nollywood-themed videos relating to breast and cervical cancers.

According to the trainers, corps members may be able to pass on their newfound knowledge to other youths in their host communities after completing the three-week orientation and additional online courses.

In Katsina, police thwart a terrorist attack and seize six motorcycles.

Police in Katsina State said they thwarted and foiled a terrorist attack on Barewa village in the Batagarawa Local Government Area, recovering six hoodlums’ motorcycles in the process.

SP Isah Gambo, the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to SP Gambo, terrorists on motorcycles were seen in large numbers heading to Barawa village, armed with AK-47 rifles, and the police were alerted.

In response, a combined police and military team was dispatched to the area, where they engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gunfight and successfully repelled them, with the terrorists fleeing as a result of the combined teams’ operational strategy and gallantry.

Five bandits’ operational motorcycles were recovered and burned down by the combined team during the scan, according to SP Gambo, while another bandits’ motorcycle abandoned in Barawa forest was recovered by the Batagarawa Divisional Police Officer.
Many of the terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds, according to SP Gambo.

As a result, he urged community members to report any person found with a suspicious injury to the nearest security formation.

CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, the State Commissioner of Police, praised and praised the personnel’s efforts in repelling the terrorists.

He urged members of the public to continue to work with security agencies in the state’s ongoing fight against terrorism.

APC Convention: Zoning has been adopted – Bello

0

The party’s leadership adopted the zoning report received from the Zoning Committee led by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak on Tuesday, according to Abubakar Bello, the Acting Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Niger State.

This comes after he announced that the party’s National Executive Council would meet next week to finalize plans for the March 26 National Convention.

On Tuesday, shortly after a meeting with CECPC members at the Party’s National Secretariat, Bello revealed this to journalists.

“The zoning formula report has been submitted and adopted, and it will be released any moment now,” he said. I’m referring to the zoning formula.

“Hopefully, the NEC meeting will take place next week.” It’s a follow-up to yesterday’s meeting. And, just so you know, we’ll be meeting every day until the convention to put things together, so you won’t be asking me the same question tomorrow.

“Basically, today we looked at the convention sub-committee and collected some of the committee’s reports in the hopes of deciding on the next step to take tomorrow.”

“Today wasn’t particularly eventful,” he observed.

“Ask him,” Bello said when asked if former CECPC National Secretary Dr John Akpanudoedehe is still part of the party’s new leadership.

Only Buhari has the power to force me to resign – Akpanudoedehe

Meanwhile, news of the Secretary’s resignation threw the National Secretariat into disarray.

While confusion reigned in some quarters, our reporter witnessed jubilation in others.

Earlier, the Secretariat had received reports that Akpanudoedehe had resigned angrily due to internal controversies.

However, Akpanudoedehe quickly returned to the Secretariat to tell journalists that he had not resigned and that he would only do so if the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, instructed him to do so (retd.).

“I have read on social media that I have resigned as Secretary of the APC,” Akpanudoedehe said on Tuesday evening. I’d like to state unequivocally that I did not resign. If I had resigned, you would have seen my resignation letter, which I had written myself. When someone is alive, it is impossible to say he is dead.

“I am not greater than the party, nor am I greater than the president, who is the party’s leader.” I’m awaiting the return of the national chairman.

“If we receive a directive from the president to resign, we will do so if we hear from him. We are not bigger than the president.” I’m going to say right now that the breaking news isn’t from me. I’m not sure who made the announcement.”

“Our relationship is very cordial,” Akpanudoedehe said when asked about his relationship with the Acting Chairman.

“I don’t have any load,” he said in response to reports that he had moved his victuals out of the party grounds. I’m here for a while and then I’m gone. I’ve never changed the furniture in my house. This is an official photograph. I haven’t brought anything with me. I have not received any correspondence.

“It’s not possible to say, ‘the president said.'” I have not received any correspondence from anyone. As I previously stated, no one is bigger than the party. The problem is that the answer to the question of whether or not I resigned is no. I am the party’s national secretary.”

PDP warns aspirants to enter the APC at their own risk.

In response to the APC’s recent leadership changes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday in Abuja warned political aspirants vying for various positions on the party’s platform against “wasting their resources, time, and energy,” claiming that the CECPC lacks statutory authority under the law and that any State Congress or National Convention it holds is void.

Under current laws, the APC is “legally defunct, structurally crippled, and no longer a legitimate and valid vehicle” to field candidates for elections, according to the main opposition.

This came after Abubakar Bello, the governor of Niger State, was appointed acting National Chairman of the CECPC in Abuja on Monday.

stated this in a statement titled ‘Leadership crisis: APC is defunct, not eligible to contest elections-PDP’, which he signed on Tuesday.

“The PDP draws the attention of intending APC aspirants to the fact that the CECPC has no statutory authority under the law, and any State Congress or National Convention held by it to produce any party leadership at any level remains invalid and unrecognized by law,” Ologunagba said.

“As a result, any Governorship, State Assembly, National Assembly, or Presidential Primary election conducted by any leadership produced by the illegal CECPC will only produce invalid candidates, just as the APC had invalid candidates in the 2019 general elections in Zamfara and Rivers States due to faulty primaries.”

“As a result, our Party urges aspirants and supporters planning to run for the APC in the 2023 general elections to read the writing on the wall and not waste their resources, time, and energy in the APC.”

The main opposition, which described the APC as legally defunct, argued that the President’s unilateral dismissal of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and replacement of his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Bello, as Chairman of the CECPC confirms that the CECPC is an illegal creation lacking statutory powers, authority, and legitimacy of party leadership.

“With two National Chairmen, multiple factions in the states, and a national secretariat now taken over by security agencies, the APC is plagued by confusion and fierce infighting by its various warlords, with no National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, or legitimate structures in the States,” it said.

“Moreover, the APC’s CECPC, whether led by Governor Buni or Governor Bello, remains constitutionally invalid due to Section 183 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), which prohibits a sitting governor from holding ‘any other executive office in any capacity whatsoever’ while serving as a State Governor.”

Chairmanship: Adamu’s endorsement is rejected by the APC Muslim Forum.

Meanwhile, under the auspices of the APC Muslim Integrity Forum, some APC stakeholders protested Abdullahi Adamu, the former governor of Nasarawa state, as the next National Chairman on Tuesday in Abuja.

The President, Major General Buhari (retd. ), has reportedly given his approval to the pioneer Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, ahead of the APC National Convention, which has sparked controversy in several quarters.

During a press conference, Abubakar Yusuf, the forum’s National Coordinator, urged the President and other party leaders to investigate the lawmaker’s past activities, integrity and commitment, age and physical fitness, and role as a proponent of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s third-term agenda.

According to Yusuf, the APC’s anti-corruption, integrity, and good governance ideology cannot support Abdullahi Adamu as national chairman because it will be used against the party during election campaigns.

“They’ll laugh at us and make fun of our party’s integrity.” We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to scrutinize Abdullahi Adamu’s person and past activities, as well as his integrity and commitment, age and physical fitness, and role as the spearhead of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s third agenda.

“A man who does not believe in democratic principles cannot be an effective party administrator, especially in a crisis-plagued party like ours during an election year.”

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari and all of our party’s leaders to withdraw their purported endorsement of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, given his badly tainted records, age, and the requirements of the National Chairmanship, with the goal of replacing him if such an alleged endorsement exists.”

The APCMIF, which claimed that Adamu was not the only Muslim candidate for chairmanship in the Northcentral, urged party leaders to back other candidates such as Umar Al-Makura, Sani Musa, and Saliu Mustapha.

“The fact is, Abdullahi Adamu is not the only Muslim from Northcentral Nigeria; we have people like Umar Al-Makura, Sani Musa, and Saliu Mustapha, among others, who can do the job,” the statement continued.

“Senator Adamu’s age should also be considered; he lacks the physical energy and charisma required of a National Chairman of a governing party in a country like Nigeria to travel around the country and sit for long periods of time.”
