NURTW crisis: MC Oluomo not served suspension notice, says aide

0

Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, has not received a letter suspending him from his position as Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, according to his spokesman Jimoh Buhari.

This was Buhari’s reaction to a viral letter from the NURTW national leadership in Abuja reportedly suspending MC Oluomo as Lagos chair.

According to the letter signed by NURTW General Secretary Kabiru Yau, MC Oluomo has been suspended indefinitely for gross misconduct. MC Oluomo was then told to hand over to his deputy.

The president’s spokesman, Buhari, told our correspondent on Wednesday that he has not received a letter regarding the

“We are unaware of the suspension because we have not received a letter from the national leadership,” he said.

Social media cannot suspend an organization’s leader.

“MC Oluomo is about to chair a meeting. He leads Lagos NURTW.”

The union’s national headquarters reportedly questioned Akinsanya for refusing to follow recent national leadership orders.

In the February 14, 2022 query, Akinsanya was accused of intimidating, harassing, and assaulting the newly-elected Chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria, Azeez Abiola, aka Istijabah.

In his response, Akinsanya denied inciting union members to assault Abiola.

Amid rising unemployment and poverty in Nigeria, the federal government has urged the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to step up efforts.

Niyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, made the appeal yesterday in Jos during the 2021 ITF merit award.

“From the scorecard presented earlier, it is obvious to me that rather than allow the weight of your achievements to lull you into complacency or to rest on your oars, you have become more vibrant and determined in pursuit of your mandate,” the minister said, represented by Nagogo Mohammad.

It is not surprising to me given the Fund’s track record since President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR took office.

“I am aware that in the last six years you have implemented several life-changing skills intervention programmes and other initiatives that have equipped thousands of Nigerians with employability and entrepreneurship skills.

Also, the Fund played a key role in the implementation of the MSMEs Survival Fund, which was introduced by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the pandemic on Nigerians.

In order to grow the national economy and address other issues facing our country today, the Federal Government expects more from agencies like the ITF.

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong acknowledged that his state has benefited greatly from the Fund’s skills intervention programmes, especially under the current Director General, Sir Joseph Ari.

“According to my records, over 4000 youths and women from the state have benefited from the ITF’s National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP), Women Skills Empowerment Programme (WOSEP), Passion to Profession Programme (P2PP), Agripreneurship, Art of Culinary and Information Skill Empowerment Programme (ISEP), among others,” said Governor Abdullahi.

In 2023, RCCG May Have Create Special Department To Support Osinbajo

Evidence suggests the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has established a special unit within the church to encourage and support those considering or already involved in politics.

An alleged memo circulating on social media platforms announced the church’s creation of a ‘Office of Directorate of Politics and Governance’.

It is addressed to all pastors in charge of regions and provinces and dated 28th February 2022.

Pastor Timothy Olaniyan will head the new directorate, according to the office.

It stated that the Directorate’s goal is to support RCCG church members who want to enter politics or leadership roles.

“The Directorate’s essence is to help coordinate the engagement of our people who are willing to participate in politics,” the letter states.

“To help mobilize support for them when required,” it adds.

The letter also ordered every RCCG zone, area, and parish to appoint a leader to run the new office at their respective levels.

If the contents of the memo are to be believed, the church may be preparing to support Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who has been taunted to run for President in 2023.

Can Aivoji Turn Around The Fortunes Of Lagos PDP

0

PDP has been in crisis in Lagos State for some time. Some say the crisis is self-inflicted, while others say it is caused by sponsored moles paid by the state’s ruling party to weaken the party structure and ensure it never wins elections.

After a failed attempt in October last year, the party recently held a state congress in Lagos Island, where hoodlums fired guns into the air to disperse delegates, including journalists covering the election.
After two failed attempts to hold the congress, on February 28th, an election was held at the Bishop Vining event centre in Ikeja, with Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, as chairman of the electoral committee.

Some candidates and party leaders claimed the election was rigged. They insisted that the party leaders reached a consensus on the state executive committee candidates.

Sadly, the party is still divided, despite the fact that the winner of that election claimed he could bring all disgruntled party members together, citing his experience as a grassroots politician and his closeness to former state chairmen as reasons for his determination to win Lagos for the PDP in 2023.

In an interview, Aivoji stated that he would work with ward chairmen and other party leaders to ensure that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is given a red card in 2023.

“I am a grassroots politician. For example, if I became the state chairman, I would organize workshops and seminars for the 245 ward chairmen. WHY IS THE SYMPOSIUM AND It is up to them to win their wards and units. That they can be financially independent if they are trained and organized will also help them learn that.

“I told them we would work for our victory as soon as I became state chairman. Instead of an office, my executive committee (exco) and I will get on a bus and tour the 245 wards to win people over to our party. It was discussed before our congress because APC had failed the people. You know that everything starts at the local level, then moves to the state level, and so on.

“As state chairman, I will work with the grassroots to help the party win elections. My exco will support whatever the locals decide. We won’t impose candidates on them like in the past. People will not betray the party if they understand the grassroots dynamics.

The PDP currently has no reward system, but that will soon change. I told them I would call anyone who has served in this party since 1999 for ideas. They’ll all be useful. Most of the party’s former local government chairmen left, but now they are back and active. So, how many former ministers still come around to see what’s going on in the party? They left because of the leadership, but I will ensure they return.

“We will do the right thing and include everyone. Politicians crave recognition. There must be discipline and a reward system for success. We will easily win Lagos State thanks to the congress. A similar congress will be held for the governorship. I also told them that once the governorship candidate is chosen, other positions should be spread across local governments to ensure inclusivity.

According to Aivoji, former deputy national chairman of the party Chief Bode George is his leader and nothing will come between them.
Following the congress that elected Aivoji as the party’s state chairman, some party members claimed the election was rigged because the party leaders had agreed on consensus which was allegedly abandoned by the Governor Douye Diri led electoral committee.

Aivoji said everything is under control and he is ready to do everything possible to bring the party members together and prepare for the 2023 Lagos State election.

“Chief Bode George is our father, and I will always respect him as such. I have never insulted any of my elders, and nothing will separate us. He leads us. We’ve talked one-on-one, and I’ve told everyone that no one will stand between us.”

Angry party members demanded that the leader’s position be protected after Dr. Amos Fawole lost to Aivoji by a few votes in that congress.

But Aivoji, who allegedly lacks the former deputy national chairman’s blessing, insists there is no cause for concern as he has always had a good relationship with Bode George.

“I have spoken to the other aspirants except Dr. Amos Fawole whose telephone number was switched off,” he said. I intend to see him. I’ve extended a friendly hand to each of them. We’ll collaborate. We will all work together to ensure the party’s success in 2023.

It’s all about what they can do. Politically, I lead Fawole. We last met at Chief Bode George’s. Bode George leads us. I must admit that those who yell are in the minority. The masses will win the election. “I got 839 votes and Fawole got 800, so it was a close race,” he said.

Niyi Adams, a candidate for the Lagos State PDP chairmanship, congratulated the newly elected chairman and urged him to lead the party to victory in 2023, which he believes should be his priority.

Adams, in a statement made public, urged Aivoji to maintain unity, pledging his full support in his quest for a larger Lagos State PDP.

“Please do everything humanly possible to bring our party together. We have the best chance of winning now, so please stay focused. Rest assured that I will fully support you in this endeavor. Again, congrats to all. “It is our victory.”

APC crisis: Umahi defends Gov. Buni Remains Authentic Chairman, Vows To Deal With Ebonyi PDP

0

On Wednesday, Ebonyi State Governor Chief David Umahi insisted Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni is the genuine Caretaker Committee Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Governor has also promised to deal with PDP members in Ebonyi State.

Umahi said there was no crisis and tasked party members to dispel rumors of division.

“Don’t be angry about the judgement, thank PDP,” he said. It’s a joke gone too far. And today in Ebonyi State, we will tell the PDP enough. Anyone breaking Ebonyi State law will get it hot starting today.

In the past year, I have seen that I can do my inspection, my work, and also fight. So it’s in Ebonyi State.

“If you want to destroy this government, this state, you will not get your way starting today. Nobody is going to steal your mandates, Umuekumenyi. They have ruled for 8 years. The south is about 7yrs, it is still small, 8yrs.

“I am a man of justice, and I will not allow another senator from the south to replace you. I won’t let you break the law. Your governor was promoted by the bad thoughts about him.

“Nigerians are fighting for us, not the governor of Ebonyi State. I thank the APC national chairman and assure you that APC is undivided. The chairman was sick. We were there when he asked Niger State Governor Mr. Bello to act for him.

“Any changes will be communicated. But for now, no change, no crack. The PDP is trying to destroy this country, and our party, the APC, has noticed their deceptions.

“We know many of them are corrupt, moving money around, but God will catch them, and there is no PDP in Ebonyi State. PDP in Abuja? No, these are APC members.”

Enobore added that correctional centres hold exciting competitions like pageantry and cooking competitions to keep inmates motivated.

“As part of our reformation and rehabilitation program, we organize social engagement activities to keep the inmates healthy and happy,” he explained. Some may be leisure activities, while others may be entertainment.

“We implemented a number of programs to make the inmates happy and positive. First, we make sure they are open to correction and second, that they are there in good spirit to help them kill boredom. We do so much. The prison officer in charge of KIRIKI organized competitions for inmates such as cooking, tailoring, and make-up.

The incident occurred just 48 hours after bandits attacked a local vigilante group, killing 63 people in Kebbi State’s Zuru Emirate.

This influenced the Deputy Governor’s Tuesday visits.

“We were ambushed at Kanya,” said Abdullahi Musa, Deputy Governor of Kebbi State.

“It was a fight. I’ve never seen anything like it. You know the deputy governor is a retired soldier with military skills. This happened during the shoot.

“We were able to take cover, along with 36 top military officers in the convoy,” Abdullahi said.

“The Tuesday night attack was bloody,” said Idris Ahmed, another survivor.

He said they were lucky to live another day because many died.

IPAC Tells Sanwo-Olu To Install CCTV Cameras Strategic Places

0

The Lagos State Inter-Party Advisory Council has urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to install CCTV cameras in strategic locations to improve security.

On Thursday, IPAC Chairman Olusegun Mobolaji made the call in an interview with NAN.

Miss Oluwabamise Ayanwola, 22, went missing after boarding a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit vehicle and was found dead with some body parts missing.

To prevent future murders of innocent children, Mobolaji said the government must increase its investment in surveillance and security cameras strategically placed.

He believes that since the government’s primary responsibility is citizen security, no amount should be too large to spend on security issues.

The family of Oluwabamise Toyosi Ayanwola, who was brutally murdered after boarding a BRT bus from the Chevron area, has our deepest sympathies.

“We also recommend that the state government upgrade its digital security system.

In addition, the state government should prioritize the installation of more CCTV/surveillance systems throughout the state.

To reduce crime and speed up investigations, Mobolaji says the government must invest more in security personnel.

IPAC boss prayed for Bamise’s family’s strength to bear the loss.
