In a statement, Onanuga said: “From our records, President Obasanjo has not successfully made anyone win an election in Nigeria since then.

“Not even in Ogun State can anyone rely on his support or endorsement to become a governor or councillor.

“We pity Peter Obi as we are confident that Chief Obasanjo cannot win his polling unit and ward in Abeokuta for Obi in the coming Presidential election on 25 February 2023.”

Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines were stolen in Katsina and Delta states, according to Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At a briefing on Saturday at the collation center in Abuja, Yakubu said that the electoral process had faced some difficulties nationwide, including logistical and security issues.
In most areas of the nation, the BVAS had operated flawlessly, according to Yakubu, and there had been few complaints about how it had performed.

He did admit, though, that some locations had been difficult to open polling places at 8:30 am. Despite the commission’s best efforts, this was caused by logistical issues and insecurity.
Yakubu also reported that thugs had attacked a polling unit in Oshimili, Delta state, and stolen two BVAS machines
However, INEC replaced the stolen machines, restored security, and ensured that voting continued. Similarly, in Safana LGA of Katsina state, thugs attacked voting locations and snatched six BVAS machines, but INEC had been able to use spare machines and reinforce security for voting to continue. While security agencies have recovered three of the stolen BVAS machines, three are still in the hands of the thugs.

Remember that Wike is also credited with convincing Peter Obi to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the Labour Party (LP) just before the primaries.

Before the PDP leadership made the decision to open the primary to candidates from the North and the South, Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, was getting ready to run for president.

P-Square, a fervent supporter of Obi’s ability to change Nigeria for the better in response to the video, said, “My dear Rivers State/Portharcourt people:

Goodluck Jonathan, a former president of Nigeria, has urged all presidential contenders and political party leaders to respect Nigerians’ right to vote by conceding defeat if they do not win.
This was said by Mr. Jonathan during the signing of the third peace accord on Wednesday in Abuja, which was attended by all party leaders and their presidential candidates.

This is the time, according to Mr. Jonathan, who was represented by Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, for the candidates and party leaders to show goodwill.

“Our country needs a stable and reliable democracy to be able to adequately address its challenges and provide the desired leadership that meets the expectations of our teeming populace. The world looks up to us to get our democracy right and become a force to be reckoned with in the leadership recruitment and governance process,” the former president explained.

He added, “We need peaceful elecions to give democracy a boost on the continent, especially in our sub-region where civil rule is threatened by a wave of unconstitutional change of government. I, therefore, call on all the presidential candidates, the party chairmen and members of all the political parties to please respect the voice of Nigerians and embrace the politics of peace.”

He recalled that in the build-up to the 2015 general elections, he and President Muhammadu Buhari signed a similar accord, committing themselves to be free, fair, credible and peaceful elections.

In the second Peace Accord, we made it very clear that we would respect the results of the votes. I thought that was the best way to advance our democracy, avert impending violence, and pacify our country,” declared Mr. Jonathan. Given the high levels of anxiety and tension that have been felt in the lead-up to the elections, there is no better time to make this commitment than right now.

The five disgruntled governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have claimed that they are not concerned with being punished for alleged anti-party activities.
The party is reportedly focused on making sure that Atiku Abubakar wins the presidential election on Saturday, according to the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
Ologungaba stated that the G 5—five governors who have endorsed other presidential candidates—are of less concern to the party than their actions.
However, he opted not to say what disciplinary measures the party would implement as a result of some G-5 governors publicly endorsing other presidential candidates.

He said, “Our next action is to focus on the election. The issues before us are very important. We are focusing on what is important to us as a party. These are issues of serious concern for us and Nigerians, issues of insecurity, poverty, and human development. As we speak we have about 100m Nigerians living in poverty.

“So as a party, we are focused on the election because we want to rescue Nigeria from the misrule of the APC and we are following through with that.”

Remember how the G-5 governors—Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Samuel Ortom of Benue, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo—insisted that the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, resign from his position and allow a southerner to replace him in order to balance the power.
Additionally, the governors resigned from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council and made the decision not to back the party’s nominee for president.

While Ayu refused to resign, Atiku has consistently rejected governors’ requests to pressure the national chairman to step down. The governors have since set up camp with their preferred presidential candidates after several failed peace efforts.
