The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is allegedly under pressure to rig the results by some governors who were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, which is currently in power.

The accusation was made in a statement on Sunday night by the party’s national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

Aminu Bello Masari, Nasir el-Rufai, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Bello Matawalle, the governors of Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Zamfara states, respectively, are allegedly pressuring INEC officials to change the results of Saturday’s presidential election, according to reports in the public, according to Debo.

The statement reads partly, “These desperate APC governors are allegedly pressuring and blackmailing INEC officials to manipulate the results and transfer massive votes validly cast for the PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar to the rejected APC and its Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Our Party has been informed that this nefarious scheme by the APC governors is responsible for the stalling of collation of election results in Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara and other APC States where the Presidential Candidate of the APC is alleged to have released over N11 billion per State to rig the election in his favour.
“The PDP demands in the strongest terms that Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of INEC, issue a warning to the Commission’s officers in the states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Zamfara not to tamper with the election results as reported at the Polling Units. The immediate transmission of the results to the INEC Server should also be ordered by the INEC Chairman.

To prevent compromise by governors, Atiku asks INEC chairman direct collation officers to upload results right away

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s nominee for president, has asked Mahmood Yakubu, the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission, to direct the election’s collation officers to upload the results to the INEC server right away.

According to Mr. Abubakar, this is now necessary to thwart some governors who are attempting to tamper with the outcomes of the local government collation level.

Any attempt to undermine the will of the people, as freely expressed in their votes from yesterday, would be a disservice to Nigerians and a negation of democracy, Mr. Abubakar said.

According to the latest projections, Mr Abubakar is also set to exceed expectations in at least 10 states, where he is projected to garner over 40% of the votes cast.Meanwhile, the PDP presidential candidate has expressed gratitude to the Nigerian people for their support so far and pledged to continue to work hard to earn their trust and confidence.
“The early projections show that the Nigerian people have recognized in Atiku Abubakar the kind of leader they desire to lead them into a brighter future, and we are humbled and honored by this.

“While it is still too soon to predict the election’s final result, Abubakar Abubakar’s early success has undoubtedly given him a competitive edge as the race enters its closing stages.
