Twitter, a microblogging platform, has finally removed the Legacy verification tick from a number of well-known people.

The business had made hints about wanting to market verification tick for a while.

Twitter reportedly removed the Legacy Blue Tick for famous people on Thursday.

Checks on the Twitter accounts of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the incoming president; Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate; Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States; and Tony Elumelu, the chairman of UBA PLC, revealed that the verification tick had been removed.

Three hundred thousand verified users who did not pay for the Blue Tick were impacted by the change, including many famous athletes, musicians, journalists, and other public figures.

Tweeters’ responses:

@TonyOElumelu:
I woke up to see that my verification tick had disappeared. Wahala!”, he lamented.

@torty_mercy:
Make I hear Okwute pays for Twitter Blue $8 that you will give someone as a happy holiday gift, and the person will appreciate it greatly, Okwute will now give to Billionaire for blue tick??? We are allergic to spending money wrongly.

“Elon Musk has removed the legacy verification of over 400K notable persons. Peter Obi, Atiku, Tinubu, Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump lost their blue check marks. Is Elon from this planet? Only an alien can compel Heads of Government & Former Presidents to pay for Twitter Blue.

After Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter, the platform witnessed drastic changes geared toward boosting its revenue.

Kogi Judiciary uncovers syndicate responsible for issuance of fake enrolment orders

0

The Kogi State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Josiah Joe Majebi, established an anti-fraud system to clean up the state judiciary, particularly the High Court of Justice. As a result, the state judiciary has discovered the syndicate responsible for issuing fake enrolment orders.

This action, which was in line with the state’s Council of Judges’ vision, has already started to produce exceptional results as previously hidden dealings in the high court system are revealed.

Justice Majebi has ordered that the police look into the perpetrators after learning that a syndicate was responsible for issuing court Enrolment Orders to the general public.

According to preliminary investigations, Court Enrolment Orders were being issued without going through the required procedure of a formal request to the court for the issuance of the same by recipients.

As per the Chief Registrar of the

High Court, Jubril Oladimeji Ibrahim, the crime—which may have been ongoing for some time—was discovered thanks to the diligent work of the Chief Judge’s keen detective apparatus, which was used to look for suspicious activity involving the state’s administration of justice among the system’s users and the general public.

He claimed that the public and institution staff were unaware of the deployment of the mechanisms.

Investigations have shown that the syndicate, which has been predominately operating in Lokoja, the state capital, has its tentacles spread throughout the state and specializes in forging and issuing documents that are purportedly issued by the court.

He claimed that the breakthrough came about as a result of the Chief Judge’s quick response to the heinous act and the necessary steps that were taken to prosecute those responsible.

According to the CR, this prompted the invitation of Tenimu Muhammed, a former president of the Upper Area Court I, Lokoja, who is now an assistant director in his office. He is currently being tried for misconduct before the state’s Judicial Service Commission. He is said to have granted and approved an enrolled order that was made without any formalities or applications.

Police have detained and are looking into two additional High Court employees, Abdullahi Adams and Umar Muhammed.

Following this development, the Chief Judge issued a warning to all members of the judicial branch of government, stressing the importance of the Council of Judges’ mission to restore the institution’s integrity and sanctity and urging them to refrain from any actions that might damage their reputations or those of the judiciary.

Kemi Olunloyo comments on rumors that Davido had baby with his baby mamas

Following claims that the married singer impregnated one of his baby mamas, self-styled investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo advised Davido to think about polygamy.

Remember how Instagram blogger Gistlover caused a social media uproar by implying that Davido, who wed secretly his late son Ifeanyi’s mother, Chioma Rowland, last year, had impregnated one of his baby mamas who lives in Atlanta, United States.

Fans thought Davido was the target of all the clues even though the blogger avoided naming anyone.

Hours after the news surfaced, the singer himself posted a mysterious message. He wrote “Over Dem all” in a tweet.

In light of the pregnancy scandal, Kemi Olunloyo suggested to Davido that he should follow the example of American pop star Nick Cannon, who is known for having several baby mamas rather than marrying a single woman.

She added that after the pregnancy scandal, the singer’s wife, Chioma, had left his home.

Olunloyo posted the following on her Instagram account: “You’re a big married Afrobeats musician now. Stay a baby daddy like Nick Cannon, please. You cannot share a bed with a new mother. She is now expecting. Wife leaving means infidelity

Wike is an expired drug who is about to be taken off the shelf – Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in the upcoming Kogi State governor election, has compared Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to “an expired drug who is about to be taken off the shelf.”

In the event that the PDP nominates Melaye for governor of Kogi State, Wike had previously declared he wouldn’t support the party.

On Arise TV on Wednesday, Dino Melaye said he wanted to focus on the general election rather than Wike, who was experiencing “post-election trauma.”

“Nyesom Wike is an expired drug who is about to be taken off the shelf,” he declared in response. As a result, I won’t waste my time talking to a politician who is about to step down from office and is still reeling from the election’s aftermath.

“I need to give my election my undivided attention. Focusing on saving the Kogi State population is what I want to do. Additionally, I have no time for those who are impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Melaye continued, saying it does not follow that Wike will demand his liver and kidney just because the latter supported his bid for governor in 2019 from him.

Two kill as building under construction collapses in Abuja

0

On Wednesday, April 19, a building collapsed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), causing TWO people to perish.

Six construction workers were trapped when an adjacent fence collapsed onto the building, which was still under construction.

Eyewitnesses claim that the building’s foundation was drilled too closely to the homes nearby, which damaged the neighbouring building’s fence and caused it to collapse.

Adebayo Amiola, Head of Operations, FCT Fire Service, confirmed eyewitness accounts by telling reporters at the scene that there was no retaining wall around the building that might have prevented the incident.

Four of the six trapped individuals were found alive, while two others suffered fatal injuries. The building was under construction, and men working on the site were injured when the nearby fence to the main building fell.

Amiola claimed that because there was no retaining wall added while the building’s future location was being excavated, the nearby wall collapsed onto the workers.

He claimed that the injured people had been taken to the General Hospital in Asokoro for medical care.

A previous order had stopped work at the location until the necessary precautions were taken, according to Mukhtar Usman Galadima, director of the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority’s (FCDA) Department of Development Control.

Even stopping the work here, the Department of Development Control has exercised all of its authority. The developer, perhaps acting on the advice of his engineer, did not heed the warning, and this incident ensued.

“Because when performing this type of activity, you must shore it up and maintain the wall to prevent collapse. Until this incident occurred this morning, we were unaware that work had resumed.

At the scene were members of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), FCT Fire Service, and National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.

Three people were killed on Thursday, February 2, when a three-story building still under construction in the FCT’s Gwarimpa neighbourhood collapsed.

Subsequently, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) cancelled the allocation for the land where the building was being built.

Additionally, a shopping mall building collapsed in 2022, killing at least two people in the Kubwa neighbourhood of the FCT.

180 dead, 1,800 injured as fighting continue in Sudan

0

According to the UN, the ongoing conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in at least 180 fatalities and 1,800 injuries.

Volker Perthes, the UN’s special envoy to Sudan, said the country’s situation is “very fluid, so it’s very difficult to say where the balance is shifting to.”

Despite requests for a temporary cease-fire from various world leaders, including the UN, the fight, which broke out on Saturday, has continued and is now in its fourth day.

Mr. Perthes stated in a press conference in New York that “the two sides who are fighting are not giving the impression that they want mediation for a peace between them right away.”

Buildings and facilities in the already torn nation, including members of the diplomatic community, have been destroyed as a result of the ongoing fighting.

Josep Borell, the EU’s head of foreign policy, tweeted that the EU ambassador to Sudan had been attacked in his own home.

“The Vienna Convention has been flagrantly violated in this case. According to international law, Sudanese authorities have a duty to ensure the security of diplomatic facilities and personnel.

Similar to this, an attack on a convoy of clearly marked US diplomatic vehicles occurred, and an initial report connected the attackers to the RSF. According to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, all passengers in the car are secure.

African leaders’ statements
The African Union Peace and Security Council (AU-PSC) expressed concern during an emergency meeting on Sunday that the situation in Sudan has “reached a dangerous level and could escalate into a full-blown conflict, thereby undermining the progress made towards a peaceful transition to democracy and stability in Sudan.”

It denounced the fighting and demanded a halt to hostilities while pleading with the nations in the area and other interested parties to support ongoing efforts to put the nation back on the path to a constitutional order.
In a related meeting, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) demanded that the warring parties end hostilities immediately and unconditionally, defuse the situation, permit unrestricted humanitarian access, and ensure that Sudanese citizens could observe the holy month of Ramadan in peace.

The delegation would be led by Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, and include William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, and Ismail Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti.

In addition, they would quickly call a physical or virtual meeting of the IGAD Assembly of Heads of State and Government to discuss IGAD institutional matters and other pressing regional concerns.

Court Overturns Ararume’s Removal as NNPCL Board Chairman

Senator Ifeanyi Ararume has been reinstated as the non-Executive Chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The businessman was fired and his removal by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 17, 2023, was declared illegal by the court on the grounds that the President’s action was arbitrary, illegal, and unlawful.

In a ruling on a lawsuit brought by Ararume, Justice Ekwo also awarded N5 billion in damages against Buhari and NNPCL, to be paid to Ararume as compensation for the improper termination of his employment and disruption of his appointment.

Ararume’s immediate return to his position as non-Executive Chairman of the NNPCL was mandated by Justice Ekwo.

All decisions made by the NNPCL Board of Directors while Ararume was not present were also ruled by the judge to be invalid.

In the ways and manners in which Ararume was fired after using his name to register NNPCL, Justice Ekwo ruled that Buhari had violated the law, and that such a brazen act could not be allowed to stand in the face of the law.

Ararume had brought Buhari before the court, asking it to declare his dismissal as the chairman of the NNPC illegal, unlawful, and unconstitutional and that it was a complete violation of the CAMA law, which NNPCL was incorporated under.

In addition to requesting that the court issue an order restoring him to his position, Ararume also sought N100 billion in damages from President Buhari for the illegal manner in which he was removed from office, which caused him harm both domestically and abroad.

After Senator Ararume was fired, it was reported that President Buhari had appointed Senator Margery Okadigbo to lead the NNPCL.
