Farmers in Kogi Benefit as Lawmaker Shares N150m Worth of Agricultural Inputs

0

James Faleke, a lawmaker from the National Assembly’s Ikeja Federal district, has taken action to help Kogi State farmers recover from drops in food prices by giving them agricultural supplies valued at more than N150 million.

During Saturday’s training and distribution of agricultural supplies to farmers in Lokoja, Dr. Tunde Arosanyin, a consultant to Faleke’s agricultural initiative, revealed this.

According to Arosanyin, the project was carried out in partnership with Bright-tech Resources Limited and the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology Lagos.

Its goal, he emphasized, is to assist farmers in recovering from the losses brought on by the recent decline in food prices.

He claims that Faleke’s initiative, which got underway in June of this year, has been empowering farmers in Kogi’s three senatorial districts.

He said that among other things, the project gave farmers access to vital inputs like seeds, liquid organic fertilizer, sprayers, herbicides, and cash assistance.

According to Arosanyin, the recipients also got training to increase their proficiency in a variety of value chains, such as fisheries and cassava.

“The initiative will help 165 farmers in all from Kogi State’s three senatorial districts.”

“Motorized boreholes are provided in certain locations, and the project includes demonstration farms, which comprise more than 150 hectares of land cleared and ready for farming,” he said.

For farmers, the recent collapse in food prices has been a double-edged sword, Arosanyin emphasized.

He claims that although President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives to lower food prices have benefited consumers, farmers are finding it difficult to turn a profit on their produce sales.

Faleke’s action, he said, was intended to tackle this issue and assist the state’s farmers.

Training on optimal agronomic methods is one of the project’s many advantages for the farmers, since it helps them become more productive and efficient.

“The beneficiaries are assisted in overcoming financial obstacles by receiving cash support in addition to inputs.

CP Ojo Raises Alarm as Ransom Economy Attracts Bandits to Kwara

0

The once-cherished status of Kwara State as the State of Harmony has been shaken in recent months by an increase in murders, banditry, and kidnappings, especially in the southern senatorial zone. The tide is shifting, however, according to Adekimi Ojo, the recently appointed Commissioner of Police. To Nicholas Uwerutonye, he says.

Given the recent insecurity, what is the current state of affairs in Kwara South?

They’re holding the bandits in check. They were free to assault towns and communities before. However, since we stepped up our activities, there have been significantly fewer of these attacks. Communities that were uprooted are coming back. We are convinced that we will eventually eradicate them, even though they haven’t done so yet.

The government has been criticized by the public for its tardy response. How have you been supported?

The governor, Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq, deserves praise. Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, was immediately alerted to him. His influence resulted in the deployment of troops and 16 armored personnel carriers, in addition to what the police had already offered. The tide turned because of that intervention.

It used to be quiet in Kwara. Why the sudden interest in banditry?

In our woodlands, many of them had been lurking for a long time. Because Kwara was profitable, their colleagues here invited them when Zamfara stepped up its crackdown. For what reason? since we live in a community. Even in cases where a poor guy is abducted, communities and family raise funds to secure his return. They are drawn to such type of ransom turnover.

Tanke axis residents lament the increase in burglaries. Are there any steps?

Leaders in the community have been involved. Scrap metal sales will be limited to specific marketplaces, and scavengers will no longer be permitted in residential neighborhoods. For improved coverage, one of our patrol cars has also been fixed by the University of Ilorin.

According to social media, some kings engage in banditry. True?

Not true at all. In relation to kidnapping in Kwara, no traditional leader has been taken into custody. If the information isn’t from the police, don’t believe it.

People continue to complain about police harassment and profiling. How do you respond?

A few bad eggs will always be among us, just as there was a traitor among the disciples in the Bible. However, we give our men discipline. The rights of citizens must also be understood. The Cybercrime Law states that you own your phone and that it is unlawful to search it without a warrant. If caught, an officer faces five years in prison and termination.

How is the murder of a woman in Egbejila progressing?

All investigations are finished. Unlike what was previously said, her husband planned the murder. Although he denied ordering her to be killed, he acknowledged hiring someone to do it. To wrap up the case, we are chasing the accomplice.

How are the organ trade and ritual killings perceived by the police?

The two crimes are the same. The law treats killing for rituals and harvesting for sale as the same offense.

What do you think about state police calls?

We have state police already, in a sense. Recruits are now sent back to their local governments under federal policy, which means they serve their communities.

‘We’ll Cut No Less Than One Million Votes from Tinubu’ – Marafa on 2027

0

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose more than a million votes in the 2027 presidential election as a result of former Zamfara Central senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The assertion was reportedly made in a statement released in Gusau on Friday by Surajo Garba Maikatako, the political leader of the Senator Marafa Support Group and chairman of the Supreme Council of the Senator Marafa Group.

His political base has already been revitalized by Marafa’s exit from the APC, he claims, with overwhelming support coming in from all around the nation.

Thousands of supporters have contacted the former senator to show their support and willingness to accompany him on his next political venture, Maikatako said.

According to the statement, “I can state with confidence that Senator Marafa’s APC resignation has revitalized his political base.” Overwhelmingly, fans from all over the country have been calling to express their solidarity and willingness to further Senator Marafa’s political involvement.

We will subtract at least one million votes from the President’s total in the upcoming general election, according to Senator Marafa’s audacious and foretelling declaration, “by the special grace of Almighty Allah (SWT).” This claim is not without substance. A dedicated, orderly, and resolute political system supports this calculated strategy. We’ll be proven correct in time. Those who question this will soon come to regret undervaluing a people-oriented movement’s strength.

This spike in support is an obvious indication of his ongoing appeal, legitimacy, and the strong faith that people have in his ability to lead. Numerous well-known people have visited grassroots organizations and reiterated their commitment to the new political path that Senator Marafa represents.

Sen. Marafa’s decision to quit the APC was decided upon by his followers collectively rather than individually. Without the full support of his devoted followers, he would never take such a step as a leader who values democracy and consultation. He has listened to the voices of his admirers.

“Let it also be known that Senator Marafa left the APC because the President did not keep his campaign pledges, especially the one to eradicate insecurity in Zamfara State. Remember that Senator Marafa was instrumental in delivering Zamfara during the general elections of 2023 while serving as Mr. President’s State Campaign Coordinator. Sadly, the President did not act to show his devotion and allegiance in return.

In the history of Nigerian democracy, we are currently getting ready to begin one of the most significant presidential campaigns. The plans are being meticulously developed, and we are sure that our political movement will upend the status quo.

“The journey to reclaim our democracy and restore integrity to leadership has just begun, and we invite all well-meaning Nigerians to join us on this journey.”

Fubara Only Enjoying ‘Peace of the Graveyard,’ Says Rufai Oseni

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has come under fire from Rufai Oseni, host of Arise Television’s Morning Show, over recent comments made after he was reinstated as governor.

Oseni implied that Fubara had been intimidated and restrained.

“After being bullied and subdued, Fubara is celebrating peace of the grave yard,” Oseni posted in a post on his X handle on Saturday. He claims that peace is preferable to conflict; play all of his recordings for him.

Governor Fubara made the statement after encouraging citizens to consider the lessons learned during President Bola Tinubu’s six-month emergency rule on the state in a statewide broadcast on Friday.

“The most expensive peace is less expensive than the least expensive war,” the governor said.

Fubara further asserted that in order to protect peace, stability, and advancement in the state, he collaborated with Tinubu’s administration and opposed calls to question the validity of the emergency rule.

Overnight Air Raids: NAF Neutralizes 25 Terrorists in Yobe, Borno

0

In a coordinated nighttime airstrike in Bula, Yobe State, and the Banki axis of Borno State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported that it killed over 25 terrorists.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, revealed this in a statement released in Abuja on Saturday.

Ejodame stated that the September 18 actions were conducted in response to reliable intelligence on terrorist activity in the region that was supplied by ground forces.

He clarified that several terrorist organizations north of Banki were discovered by a force package consisting of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets and strike aircraft that tracked the targets.

He claimed that in order to enable a coordinated offensive, real-time updates were communicated to base operations and ground forces.

“The strike aircraft successfully eliminated around 25 fighters by carrying out three consecutive precise strikes on the terrorists’ gathering places and routes of movement.

“Post-strike surveillance verified that ground forces were still in defensive positions and that no additional threats were seen,” Ejodame stated.

The NAF spokesperson emphasized that the operation showed the Air Force’s steadfast dedication to assisting ground forces and protecting the northeast region of Nigeria.

According to him, the mission not only prevented terrorists from moving freely, but it also demonstrated NAF’s determination to keep up the pressure on criminal organizations that pose a threat to the area.

*Awa Kalu writes IGP, says I never made forgery complaints to you

Despite the letter of respected legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof. Awa U. Kalu, formally distancing himself from the allegation of forgery and iimpersonatio against Abuja based lawyer, Victor Giwa, the police have gone ahead to press charges against Giwa.

In the charge, the police accused Giwa of forging the letter head of Chief Kalu.

But the SAN, in a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, said his letterhead was never forged amd that he had not at anytime lodged any coming to the police about forgery of his document.

Professor Kalu, in a letter dated May 30, 2025, addressed to the Inspector General of Police, clarified that he neither filed a complaint nor reported Mr. Giwa for allegedly forging his firm’s letterhead.

The letter comes in response to Charge No. CR/150/25 instituted by the police, in which Mr. Giwa is accused of forging the official letterhead of “Awa U. Kalu (SAN) & Partners”—formerly “Awa U. Kalu (SAN) & Associates”—to communicate with the Attorney General of the Federation.

Prof. Kalu wrote, “I wish to inform you that the internet is agog with news that a charge is preferred against the above named gentleman, indicating that he forged my official headed paper.

“Please note that I have neither filed a complaint nor have I incidented a report at any Police Station in Nigeria indicating that Mr. Victor Giwa forged my official headed paper.”

The clarification by Prof. Kalu significantly undercuts the foundation of the forgery allegation, which reportedly hinges on the unauthorized use of his firm’s name and letterhead. His statement suggests there was no formal accusation from the primary party whose identity was allegedly misused.

Also, Victor Giwa had in a letter to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, dated 23rd May, 2025, asked the IGP to probe the allegation of financial inducement to charge him to court.

Specifically, Giwa called Mr Egbetokun, to investigate the Commissioner of Police, legal services of the Nigeria Police, Chiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede and Ms Asabe Waziri, over allegation of frivolous xharge filed against him and one other.

He called on the IGP to probe the connection between the CP, Legal Services of the Nigeria Police and Asbe Waziri, a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

Legal analysts now question the legitimacy—and potential ulterior motives—of the police’s decision to file such a sensitive criminal case without consulting or securing a complaint from the alleged “victim.”

Victor Giwa has maintained his innocence, insisting that the letter in question was issued within the bounds of a legitimate legal relationship and did not involve any act of deception or forgery.

Amaechi Instructed General Saham to Kill Me – Wike Claims

0

Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has asserted that a military commander gave him the order to be killed during the general elections in 2019.

In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Wike disclosed this.

He said that the order was issued by Rotimi Amaechi, who was the Transportation Minister at the time.

Many opposition governors who now claim to be persecuted, according to Wike, have not experienced the same level of threats that he had when in government.

The former General Officer Commanding 6 Division, General Saham, attempted to murder me.

He will become the next Chief of Staff, Amaechi pledged.

“General Saham directed that I be shot.” Upon learning that he was now working at the NSA office, I declined to visit.

“General Saham, who was the governor at the time, gave the order for my execution. And the Colonel spent six months in custody after refusing.

Tragedy as Kano District Head Dies in Auto Crash

0

Alhaji Idris Dankabo, the traditional Sarkin Gabas title holder in Kano State and the District Head of Kabo, has died.
The 48-year-old traditional leader reportedly passed away Thursday night in Kano City after a horrific car accident.

Dankabo’s death was verified by the Kano Emirate Council in a statement posted on the official Sanusi Dynasty Facebook page.

According to the council, the Emirate and the Kano people suffered a great loss with his passing.

Kano Emir’s Palace will host funeral prayers for the late traditional ruler today (Friday) at 10 a.m., with the Emir likely to preside over the ceremonies.

Two children and a woman survive Dankabo.

The deceased Sarkin Gabas was the eldest son of the late Alhaji Muhammad Adamu Dankabo, who served as Chairman of the Kano Jarma and Kabo Air.

The patriarch of the Dankabo family, which is considered to be among Kano’s most powerful, has significant positions in politics, business, and philanthropy.

In the 2000s, Kabo Air, which was founded in 1980, reduced its operations to concentrate mostly on charter and Hajj services after operating domestic, regional, and international flights.

One of the senior posts in the Kano Emirate hierarchy, the title of Sarkin Gabas, which was held by the late Idris Dankabo, was said to carry administrative and cultural duties.

One of the most powerful organizations in Northern Nigeria, the emirate’s traditional leadership, would be left without a leader following his untimely death at a relatively early age.

Those Pushing Jonathan for 2027 Want to Destabilize Nigeria – Wike

0

The Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a warning, saying that those pushing former President Goodluck Jonathan to run for president in 2027 are purposefully trying to bring the nation to ruin.

Despite Jonathan’s well-established reputation as a worldwide statesman, Wike claimed on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” Thursday night that it was hypocritical for the same individuals who thwarted his 2015 bid to demand for his return.

Since Jonathan will only serve one term, anyone who suggests that he should return is merely seeking a crisis. In 2015, these same individuals deserted him. Why at this time? According to Wike, Jonathan has established himself internationally, and they only wish to involve him in needless disputes.

The minister called such actions “insincere” and warned against attempts to upset the political equilibrium by supporting Jonathan or any other Southern candidate under the pretense of a “one-term presidency.”

Wike acknowledged that the nation was going through a terrible period under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, but he maintained that the president had made difficult but vital choices to realign the economy.

Indeed, there are difficulties. Yes, I agree. It is undeniable, however, that this government is working to make things better. He emphasized, “I see the projects in Abuja every day; they are proof that something is happening.”

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, was also criticized by Wike for his hypocritical recent warnings of an impending revolution due to poverty and famine.

“Atiku served eight years as vice president. Then, why didn’t he provide the framework to stop hunger? He is now constantly discussing revolution and starvation. I don’t even bother reading his statements since, in my opinion, they are untrue,” Wike said.

Nigerians must be patient with the Tinubu administration, the FCT minister insisted, but opposition leaders shouldn’t take advantage of the country’s current economic difficulties for their own political ends.

Ulasi Questions PDP’s Future: “Only God Knows If Party Will Make 2027”

0

Chief Dan Ulasi, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that only God has the power to decide if the party would win the president in the general elections in 2027.

Speaking on Friday’s Arise Television Morning Show, Ulasi stated that although the PDP is working to restructure itself in advance of the elections, its continued existence and prosperity ultimately rest on divine will.

The PDP leader characterized the presence of at least seven PDP governors at the party’s most recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting as a welcome indication of solidarity and dedication to reorienting the party.

Since the PDP hasn’t produced a president under the current democratic regime, Ulasi also pointed out that the party has zoned its presidential ticket to the South, but that justice necessitates that it be micro-zoned to the South East.

He replied: “Well, I’ll respond to that by saying that only God can determine whether the PDP will win the presidency in 2027. Who knows who will be alive in the morning? Additionally, I usually remark that I don’t make assumptions that are out of my control. We want to do anything, if God wills it, or we have hope.

“If PDP endures, as we are attempting to… At the most recent National Executive Meeting, nearly seven of our governors were present. It was encouraging to hear that everyone is now considering ways to restructure the party and provide it a better foundation for 2027 and other upcoming elections.

I’m not sure who will run for president, but as you are aware, the party has positioned the position to the south. As you stated, if there is sincerity, they ought to microzone it to the South East, as we are currently, in theory, the only region that has not had a president during this particular era.
