. Kebbi State Government is training 2,400 primary schoolteachers in English, maths and pedagogy.
Governor Nasir Idris opened training at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic in Birnin Kebbi, vowing to transform the state’s education system.
He urged teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to work with his government to improve education.
I want to utilise this opportunity to tell this group that I would prioritise teachers and their wellbeing.
“This administration will also support and empower Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment.
“We will modify and strengthen its operations to conform with our society’s needs,” he stated.
Prof. Suleiman Khalid, Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board Chairman, said the course included six units with 400 participants each.
Khalid said the two-week programme would include English, maths and pedagogy.
Dr. Usman Sani-Tunga, Rector of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, praised the governor for the effort, saying teacher training and retraining are the greatest ways to boost the sector.
