Ilorin Court Remands Student For Allegedly Killing Colleague Over Missing Plates

Yakubu Ahmed, a student at the Kinsey College of Education in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, has been remanded in custody for allegedly killing his friend Farouq Ahmed.

The two engaged in physical combat, according to the First Information Report, FIR, during which they used knives to inflict various degrees of injuries on each other.

According to reports, the two were rushed to Ilorin’s University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, but Ahmed died as a result of his injuries sustained during the fight.

According to the police report, the fight erupted as a result of missing plates in the deceased’s possession.

In his ruling, Trial Magistrate Adebayo Kudus stated that he could only take cognizance of the case but lacked jurisdiction to hear it.

He postponed consideration of the case until March 21, 2022.
