Coup: ECOWAS sets conditions for lifting Niger sanctions

The Economic Community Of West African States said on Sunday it was continuing sanctions on Niger’s military dictatorship imposed after a July coup, saying progress on the transition to civilian rule was needed to lift the penalties.

ECOWAS Commission President Omar Touray stated a commission of Benin, Togo, and Sierra Leone would interact with Niger military rulers to deliberate on relaxing sanctions.
