Broadcasting his last words: “Buhari did his best” – SW SDP

The Social Democratic Party’s South-west Chapter has praised the administration of departing President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), noting that despite several obstacles, he did his best for the country.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, the SDP South-West Zonal Secretary, Mr. Femi Olaniyi (also known as Ferrari), made the statement in response to the president’s farewell broadcast on Sunday.

Buhari’s speech was hailed by Olaniyi, who also serves as the chairman of the SDP in Lagos State, as a message of optimism for a better Nigeria.

“Buhari did his best, but many Nigerians may not have been happy.

However, he advised everyone to have their faith in the new administration’s ability to work well with our federal parliamentarians to achieve a better Nigeria.

He said that in order to strengthen the economy, the future government should pay greater attention to the stability of the electrical supply.

In order to improve the conduct of excellent, free, and fair elections in the future, the SDP leader also said that the country urgently needs to reform the electoral system and body.

He advised the next government to follow the counsel given by previous Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Presidential Inauguration Lecture on “Rebuilding Our Economy”.

At the presidential inaugural speech on Saturday at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Sen. Bola Tinubu was asked by Kenyatta to appease Nigerians who were upset with the results of the election.

According to Olaniyi, such counsel shouldn’t be disregarded and should instead be included into the next administration’s objectives.

The departing Nigerian president also listed a few of his administration’s accomplishments over the last eight years during his farewell broadcast.

Bola Tinubu, Buhari’s successor, is anticipated to be officially inaugurated on Monday, May 29, in Abuja.
