Governor Godwin Obaseki has advised those who are unhappy with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State to leave the party immediately.
Phillip Shaibu, Obaseki’s deputy, has complained that the party they joined after being forced out of the APC in September 2019 is not treating them well and has refused to accept them.

Instead of leaving the party, Governor Obaseki said those he met there when he joined in 2019 should go elsewhere if they are unhappy, adding that as his name fades, he will continue to win.
“Anyone who refuses to accept my leadership of the PDP in Edo State will defect to us.” It’s as simple as that, and we don’t like to brag, so we don’t say much, but you understand where we’re coming from,” Obasseki said Monday in Benin City to party stakeholders.
“And whoever is supporting any group outside of Edo State, please leave Edo alone,” he said. Edo should be left alone. Edo is unlike any other state in the country.
“Edo is Edo, and Edo is Edo.” During our Christmas gathering, I told you that I wouldn’t do anything or commit to anything unless I sat with each and every one of you… I’m not going to close the door behind you.

“So, whatever it is, let’s all come together as a family, sit down and talk about it, and decide where we want to go.” They’ve tried everything, and I told them, “Look, we’ve been through a lot of battles, but we’re not battle weary.”
“So, make it clear to everyone that no one has a monopoly on fighting.” Fighting is never a good thing. This is not the path we want to take. We need everyone to come together and work together to win an election. I had transferred from APC to PDP. Godwin is my name, and I always win,” he added.
