The secretary-general was speaking at a conference of Foreign Ministers from the Group of 77 (G77) and China at the United Nations headquarters in New York, where he underlined that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak devastation on developed and developing countries alike.
According to him, the United Nations supports the World Health Organization’s vaccination policy, which aims to get vaccines into the hands of 40% of people in all countries by the end of this year, and 70% by the middle of 2022.
“Everyone, everywhere,” the top UN official added, “must have access to COVID-19 vaccines, diagnostics, and treatment.”
