49 Protesters from the Yoruba Nation have been arrested.

The Lagos State Police Command arrested and held 49 Yoruba Nation agitators on Monday, and a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Yaba granted them bail.

They were paraded by police as part of the Oodua Republic massive rally in Ojota. There were two women among them.

Some of them were intercepted carrying firearms, axes, Oodua flags, Yoruba Armed Forces jackets, and other stuff, according to Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu.

As a condition of their bail, they must each provide N300,000 and two sureties.

Human rights attorneys led by Olasupo Ojo and Oladapo Kayode submitted a request for the bail application.

It was stated that one of the sureties must be a family member and the other must be a community leader or church member with proof of tax payment.
