Yul Edochie Abandons Presidential Ambition, Eyes Anambra Governorship

Yul Edochie, a Nigerian actor and past presidential candidate, has sparked internet debates over his political aspirations once more.
Edochie recently shared a picture of himself with President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, on his official Instagram account. He also endorsed Seyi Tinubu as a potential governor of Lagos State and stated his ambition to become the future governor of Anambra State.
On social media, Nigerians immediately took notice of the picture and its accompanying statement, which described their political goals.

Edochie has already run for president, but it seems that he is now refocusing on running for governor of Anambra, indicating his continued interest in Nigerian politics.
Recall that just a month ago, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos State branch stated that the Bola Tinubu family should not be given the governorship position in the state.
This response comes in the wake of recent group campaigning and support for President Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, to be the next governor of Lagos State, replacing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

However, the PDP has stated that Lagos residents will oppose any efforts to force the president’s son to become the next to hold the highest political position in the state in 2027.

“Lagos will not serve him,” stated Hakeem Amode, the state PDP spokesperson, in a statement released in November.

When asked if the governorship should be a hereditary office, Amode responded that it is inappropriate for a son to take over his father’s role.

He stressed that if the Tinubu group adopted tactics similar to those previously used in Ondo and Edo states, they would face strong resistance.
