Thousands of youths stormed the major streets in Bauchi State on Saturday, temporarily halting vehicular movement and rallying support for Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State’s presidential bid.
Supporters from 20 local government areas gathered at the Multi-purpose Indoor Sportshall, from where they marched down Kobi Street, Emir Drive, and Central Market to the tomb of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
Speaking to the crowd, Ahmad Damat, National President of the Rescue Nigeria Mission, said it was time to abandon old ways of doing politics and demonstrate that the youths of Nigeria, with their numerical strength, could build the Nigeria of everyone’s dreams.

“We don’t care about the skeptics, or those who have launched a smear campaign against us. We’ve worked with a lot of leaders and assessed a lot of them all over Nigeria. Yahaya Bello, the governor of Nigeria, stands out.
“All of the lies they’ve spread about him in the past have turned into a source of strength for him and us Nigerian youths.” “There will be no retreat, no surrender until we achieve our goal, which is God’s will through His grace,” he said.
Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, who led other invited government officials to the rally, assured the youths that his principal would heed their call and address them as soon as possible.
“Your call for His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to run for President in 2023 has been consistent. He has clearly heard you and will not let you down. He’s shown in Kogi that it’s Youths O Clock, and it’s paying off with all of the giant strides. By God’s grace, we will repeat the feat for Nigeria,” Asuku said.
He cautioned the youths, however, against engaging in political thuggery that could tarnish his principal’s good name and integrity.
“Our President, insha Allah, in 2023, despises violence and thuggery; as a result, you should abhor such acts,” he said.
“That is the only weapon we need to vote for Yahaya Bello as presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said, urging supporters from all political parties to get their voter cards as soon as possible.
