Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has charged Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers, with fleeing to Ghana in order to escape the political unrest in the state.
In an interview with Arise News on Friday, Olayinka asserted that when Amaechi departed, Wike “faced fire” and held the fort in Rivers State.
He was responding to a statement made by Amaechi that described Wike as a little boy. In response, Olayinka said that Amaechi had lost to the “child” in 2015, 2019, and 2023.

He claimed that Wike was in Rivers, spearheading the effort to restore Amaechi to his position as governor, when he fled to Ghana and was hiding under his wife’s wrapping.

The Supreme Court ruled that Amaechi should return to his position as governor of Rivers State while he was in Ghana. Since he was unable to confront the flames here, who traveled to Ghana to bring him back? It was Wike. Wike remained in the fire’s path.
