The worldwide music industry is focusing on Africa, and Nigeria’s new crop of artists is swiftly becoming the continent’s biggest success.

Top among these Nigerian artists is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, also known as “Burna Boy,” who, according to Spotify’s ratings, has the second most-streamed album, trailing only Wizkid, who has the most-streamed album.

Mr. Owoyemi Ajayi, Spotify’s Account Manager, made the announcement in a statement.

“With the publication of his global breakout album, “African Giant,” the Afro-fusion musician took the music world by storm.

” Since then, he’s established himself as one of the biggest stars on the global music scene, a crossover sensation who refuses to compromise.”

Burna Boy’s ability to weave tales of love and educate audiences on politics and expressions of sensitivity, while creating true Afrobeats, is how he’s been able to capture the world’s attention, according to him.

Despite the fact that Burna Boy did not release an album in 2021, Ajayi claimed it was still a memorable year for him, with a slew of awards and sold-out shows throughout the world.

He mentioned that the two-time Grammy nominee won Best Global Music Record in the World Music category for his Twice as Tall album, which was released in 2020.

“This is a major win for Africans of my generation all throughout the world,” he said as he accepted his Grammy Award.

His latest appearances on chart-topping hits such as Question, Ginger, and Yaba Buluku solidify his vocal appendage as an Afro heirloom that artists from all over the world desire to include into their music.

Burna Boy, a Nigerian musician, rapper, and songwriter, is arguably one of Africa’s largest musical exports, with millions of monthly listeners worldwide,” he claimed.

Burna Boy was prominently included among the top 10 artists in practically every listed African country in Spotify’s recently released 2021 Wrapped data.

In Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, he was among the top ten most streamed artists. Kenya is the country with the lowest ranking among these countries, at number five.

His album “Twice as Tall” is among the top 10 albums of the year in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda, according to Wrapped statistics, and is in the top 30 in Kenya.

Burna Boy’s rise in the music industry and numerous achievements are inspiring, as each step he takes raises him in the Nigerian music industry and the continent of Africa as a whole.

As Burna Boy continues to march forward, there’s a good chance that the doors he opens will be left open for aspiring musicians to follow in his footsteps.

He has persevered in his quest to be known as the ‘Odogwu,’ or even better, the ‘African Giant,’ of African music, particularly the Afro sound.
