Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is employed by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, according to Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress.
Wike works for Tinubu’s APC-led federal administration, despite not being an APC member, Basiru explained.
In an appearance on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Basiru said that the party’s victory in the most recent FCT local government elections was largely due to the degree of infrastructure improvement that has been seen throughout the Federal Capital Territory over the previous two and a half years.
He described the minister’s achievement as “sterling” and pointed out that the gains were seen in both suburban and urban areas.
Basiru continued by saying that the APC’s electoral success in the FCT was largely due to the minister’s administrative work, the party’s strategic involvement, and the cautious selection of candidates with solid political backgrounds from other parties.
According to him, the party’s electoral success and the efficient distribution of democratic dividends under the current FCT government are inextricably linked.
“Wike is not a member of our party, but he works for an APC government headed by Tinubu,” Basiru claims.
“When you observe the enormous infrastructure development that has taken place in the FCT, both in the suburbs and the cities.
“Over the course of the last two and a half years, you will find that the FCT Minister’s outstanding performance, our party’s engagement, and the careful selection of candidates with stellar backgrounds from various political parties have all contributed to the APC’s victory in the FCT local government elections.
“Therefore, you cannot exclude the triumph of our party in that election from the efficient administrative deployment of the benefits of democracy in the FCT under the current FCT administration.”
