Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has given the Federal Government 48 hours to identify those who broke into Justice Mary Odili’s home on Friday.
At a news conference jointly organized by the state government and leaders of thought in the state on Sunday, the governor issued the ultimatum.
On Friday evening, some security operatives broke into Mary Odili’s house.
Since then, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied any role in the invasion.

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, also denied that the Federal Government was responsible for the incident.
Wike, who described the incident as an assassination attempt, said it was not the first time an unknown person attacked a Supreme Court justice’s home, with the Federal Government doing nothing to stop it.
“I believe there is something going on somewhere,” he said. Her husband, former governor of River State Peter Odili, had his passport seized by Immigration not long ago. It was denied by the federal government. It wasn’t until he went to court and the judge ruled that seizing his passport was illegal that Immigration came up to him and said the passport was being held because his name was on a watch list.
“On a day when the family’s patriarch was not present, his home was broken into. That was an attempted assassination. We, the people of Rivers, want to make it clear that Peter Odili’s and his family’s lives are important to us, and we will not take it lightly if anything happens to them.”
The governor stated that now is not the time to form a probe panel because it will yield no results. “We want to see the federal government take concrete action against the evil act’s perpetrators,” he said.
