Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has ordered the Nigerian Army to quell any secessionist agitations.
Wike told the incoming Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, at Government House in Port Harcourt not to abandon their professional duties and become engaged in partisan politics.

According to the governor, the state’s fight against insecurity weakened because Army officers turned political and couldn’t stand up for professional practice.
“I don’t see why we can’t work without politics. Bring the country back on track. Yes, I am willing to collaborate with all security services, not only the army.
“Our gunboats are almost complete. We paid for it everything. This includes automobiles. All I need is my people’s safety. “I’m here to help you,” Wike continued.
