Why I collapsed – Akpabio discloses health challenge

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has officially addressed the rumors surrounding his recent collapse during a birthday celebration.

Akpabio told reporters at the Senate on Friday that the purported collapse was caused by a combination of malaria and tiredness.

He confirmed being diagnosed with malaria following the December 7th colloquium in Abuja.

He further downplayed the occurrence, calling it a “show of humanity” and attributing it to exhaustion exacerbated by the event’s tension.

“What eventually happened after the event was a show of humanity,” he remarked. I went home and phoned my doctors, who told me that I had malaria mixed with stress, which might also be classified as tiredness.

“In truth, anyone may be tired. Please drink water on a daily basis to avoid being dehydrated.

“This is to say that work continues. I want to reassure Nigerians that the National Assembly is still functioning and that we are carrying out our responsibilities, including appropriation.

“We will resume on December 20th.” But first, the various committees must complete their job in order for us to meet the deadline of passing the budget by the end of the year in order for the president to sign it.”

Akpabio reminded Nigerians that the Senate is still operational and on track to pass the national budget by the end of the year. He indicated that parliamentary activity will resume on December 20th, and he also stated that committees must complete their job before the deadline.
