Nigerians have called on Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to explain how the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Anambra, Andy Uba, received over 230,000 votes in the party’s primary election.
The reaction followed Uba’s poor performance in the recently concluded Anambra governorship election.
Gov. Abiodun announced during the APC primary election in Anambra in June that “Uba polled 230,201 of the 348,490 total votes cast, defeating 13 other aspirants.”
Despite the fact that the result was rejected by other APC aspirants and leaders in the state, the party’s national leadership fielded Uba as its candidate, relying on the result declared by the Ogun State helmsman.

It should be remembered that at the time, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen Chris Ngige, stated that no primary election was held in Anambra.
However, Gov. Abiodun, who served as Chairman of the APC primary election committee in the state, insisted that the election was fair.
However, as the governorship election concluded on Tuesday, Uba’s 230,201 votes became a mirage, as he received only 43,285 votes.
Uba finished third in the election, trailing All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate Charles Soludo, who was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with 112,229 votes.
Reacting, Nigerians on social media questioned how Abiodun obtained the 230,201 votes he ‘awarded’ to Uba, who received only 43,285 votes during the election.
Lere Olayinka, a former aide to former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, said: “Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, good morning this morning Sir.

“I’m still wondering, Sir, where are the 348,490 APC members you claim voted in the party’s primary election that produced Andy Uba as Anambra State Governorship candidate?”
“About five months ago, during the party primary election, APC claimed its candidate, Andy Uba, won by about 230,000 votes,” said one Adesina Olufemi. The same APC received slightly more than 40,000 votes in the gubernatorial election.
“The average voter turnout in Anambra state elections over the last ten years has been 230,000.” “How did Give Abiodun get that score?”
‘It’s God’s will,’ Soludo says of his victory in Anambra.
According to John, “while several APC members in Anambra are willing to swear before anything, including amadioha, that there were no gubernatorial primaries in any ward in that state, those saddled with conducting direct primaries in that strategic Igbo State insisted Andy Uba won the primary with over 230k votes; not even the protest by the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, that there was no primary in his own ward or LG, nor the
“They claimed that over 348k APC members took part in the exercise, which Uba won.” They got their way, after all. And, during the gubernatorial elections, the results showed that the APC performed dismally.

“However, the question occupying the minds of several patriotic APC members across Nigeria is where are those 348,000 members who ostensibly voted in the direct primaries?” At the very least, the 230,000 members who voted for Andy Uba in the primaries should vote for him again on election day. What happened to them?
“These are the questions that APC leaders in Abuja, who ignored Dr. Ngige’s and other disgruntled gubernatorial aspirants’ protests, should urgently answer.”
“According to my Bible, righteousness exacts a nation, but sin is a reproach (a disadvantage or stain).”
“As the APC races towards 2023, when some doomsday prophets predict the party will collapse, those in charge of the party must conduct a soul-searching exercise and never dismiss the complaints of its members.”
“Anambra was there for APC to win based on the mass defection that hit APGA and the reported poor performance of the departing governor, Willy Obiano.” But, once again, APC squandered the opportunity.”
“As an APC man, I can say categorically that Andy Uba was the worst candidate on the debate, there is no contradiction,” Femi Oke, an APC member in Ogun State, said.
“The APC should stop fielding PDP Political Prostitutes as candidates and instead hold free, fair, and transparent direct primaries to ensure our best possible candidates emerge.”

“We can also hold televised APC candidate debates prior to the primaries so that the best candidates can demonstrate their abilities.” Why have the APC and PDP refused to implement online membership, including a party membership app and membership subscriptions?
“It’s because the stinkingly corrupt, inept, and moneybag politicians at the helm of these parties want to continue manipulating and deceiving Nigerians in the run-up to 2023.”
