Nigerians have been reassured by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, that the 10th Senate will carry out its responsibilities at the committee, oversight, and parliamentary levels.
This was said by Bamidele on Friday during a celebration of his 60th birthday at the opulent Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre in Ado Ekiti, dubbed the “24 Hours Marathon Praise and Worship Service” by his fans.
Additionally, Bamidele stated that the Senate will thoroughly scrutinize the ministerial nominees put forth by President Bola Tinubu.
According to Bamidele, the Senate will closely examine the ministers to determine whether they are qualified and able to serve Nigeria effectively and in a way that will benefit the general public by promoting democracy.
At the well-attended event, the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District said the Senate, which is led by senator Godswill Akpabio, is eager and eager to make sure that those in key positions under Tinubu’s presidency are those with the ability to deliver.
“Let me assure Nigerians that the screening won’t be just a bow and a dismissal, with the exception of those who had previously served as National Assembly members and who we knew and appreciated have the capability to provide Nigerians with high-quality leadership.
Nigerians anticipated our thoroughness. They anticipate a thorough screening from us. However, the take a bow and go custom is not unparliamentary; it has become customary everywhere in the world, and the departing official must be a well-known former member of the parliament. someone in whose abilities we have faith.
“We’re going to abide by the constitution to make sure we fulfill our promise to the people who supported us. This will happen at the committee level, the level of the parliament, and the oversight roles.
To fulfill his promises to Nigerians, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will have our support. We are steadfast in our resolve to put all three branches of the government—especially the judiciary—on a solid foundation so that it can administer justice impartially. We are committed to making sure the appropriate individuals are hired.
According to Bamidele, the federal government will soon launch social investment programs to ease the suffering of the masses, especially the country’s poorest of the poor, as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy.
“To aid the poorest of the poor, the federal government will put palliatives in place. In addition to the promised salary increase that will be implemented at the federal and state levels, there is another category of palliatives that will be implemented for the civil servants.
“The removal is very important because the FG can use the money it saves to build infrastructure and satisfy all Nigerians. President Tinubu had that in mind when he ordered the removal. He was aware of the struggles Nigerians face and the efforts being made to mitigate the effects of this removal.
Bamidele expressed his gratitude to God for sparing his life so that he could celebrate his 60th birthday, calling the act an uncommon favor in light of everything he had gone through in his political career.
The All Saints’ Anglican Church’s Vicar in charge of Iyin Ekiti, Ven Zaccheus Ibitoye, described Bamidele as a dependable and decent politician who abhors politics of bitterness and do or die in his brief exhortation titled “out of your faithfulness” at the event.
The cleric promised that Nigerians would ultimately tell a positive tale despite President Tinubu’s administration’s removal of the fuel subsidy in an effort to combat systemic corruption.
“Let’s wait and offer up prayers for our leaders. All of the presidential candidates pledged to end the gasoline subsidy, and one of them succeeded in doing so. All of us should be preparing for it.
Be patient with the federal government, please. We’ll be able to tell our future offspring a good tale. The present stage and its challenges will end.
