An ecstatic Osimhen, who was named Man of the Match, emphasized the importance of defeating the formidable host nation.

“It’s a fantastic win; we anticipated playing a formidable Ivory Coast team,” he remarked.

“This match was a significant test for us, and we are thrilled to have overcome it,” Osimhen continued, acknowledging the significance of the challenge presented by Ivory Coast.

Assuring a uniform strategy in future games, the 24-year-old highlighted embracing the same mindset exhibited against the Elephants.

We missed a lot of opportunities to score in the first game. We kept the same mindset today (Thursday), and we hope that everyone is happy about our triumph. We’re going to maintain this attitude for the duration of the tournament,” he promised.

Osimhen stressed the importance of not underestimating their opponent as they prepared for their upcoming match against the Guineans, who had 0 points in the group.

“We aim for a strong performance against Guinea-Bissau,” he declared. We won’t undervalue any team, given what they’ve done to qualify, and they will surely approach the game with determination.

Chukwueze feels that the Eagles have demonstrated to everyone that they are serious about adding to their three continental titles as they get ready for their third and final Group A encounter.

We engaged in heart-related play. “We proved we are prepared to compete for the AFCON title in our match against Ivory Coast,” he stated.

“Despite the complexity of this group, the last game is currently the most crucial one.

“Guinea-Bissau is a good country, but there are no tiny countries in the AFCON. We have faced them twice in the qualifying round, with one defeat.

“In order to win the group and guarantee our spot in the next round, we must win the final game.”
