Manchester United has completed the four-year signing of Real Madrid center-back Raphael Varane.
On July 26, a fee of £34 million was agreed for the France international, which could rise to £42 million with add-ons.
During his 10-year stay at Real, the 28-year-old won three La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.
Varane, a World Cup winner, described Manchester United as “one of the most iconic clubs in world football.”
“I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to come here and play in the Premier League.
“I have a lot more I want to accomplish in my career, and I know I’ll be joining a squad full of great players who are all driven to win games and trophies.
“After speaking with the manager, I can see how far we’ve come in the last few seasons, and I’m now part of a group that’s ready to compete at the highest level.

“I want to make an impression here, and I will do everything in my power to become a part of this illustrious club’s history.”
Varane began his career with Lens in France and went on to make 360 appearances for Real Madrid.
He has 79 caps for France and appeared in all four of the country’s games at Euro 2020, where they were eliminated in the last 16.
Varane, whose contract at the Bernabeu was set to expire next summer, has long been a United fan.
Before his move to Real Madrid, Sir Alex Ferguson pursued a deal for the defender, and Jose Mourinho was also interested in signing him during his time at Old Trafford.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said, “I’m absolutely delighted that we have managed to secure one of the best defenders in the world over the last 10 years.”
“Raphael is a proven winner who we’ve been following for a long time, and we know how dedicated a professional he is.

“We have a great depth of international defenders, and he will add to that group with his vast skill set and leadership. He’s a one-of-a-kind defender with a rare mix of elite qualities that I’m confident will rub off on our younger players.
“He’s won everything there is to win, but I know he’s still hungry for more. I’m looking forward to welcoming him to the team.”
Varane is United’s third signing of the transfer window, following the £73 million signing of England winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and goalkeeper Tom Heaton’s re-signing.
He is expected to play alongside Harry Maguire in the United defence, where other options include Victor Lindelof of Sweden and Eric Bailly of the Ivory Coast, who signed a new contract in April.
