The US military has requested aid from the general public in the search for a missing F-35 fighter plane after the pilot ejected from the ship.
On Sunday afternoon, the pilot of the fighter jet is said to have vanished while the aircraft was over South Carolina in the south.
The unidentified pilot successfully evacuated and parachuted. According to the BBC, his health is steady at the hospital.
A post on the verified X account of a US military installation, Joint Base Charleston, made the appeal.
“We’re working with @MCASBeaufortSC (Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort) to find an F-35 that was involved in an accident this afternoon,” they said. The pilot successfully made an emergency exit. Call the Base Defence Operations Centre at 843-963-3600 if you have any knowledge that could aid our recovery teams in finding the F-35.

The statement claims that based on the jet’s last-known location, the search has been narrowed down to an area north of JB Charleston, specifically around Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion. Using federal aviation authorities, the search is being conducted.
It’s said that the F-35 is one of the biggest and most expensive weapons programmes of its kind in the world.
