Tragic events occurred in the Odo-Ape hamlet in Kogi State’s Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area after two farmers were brutally murdered by unidentified gunmen who were thought to be kidnappers.
According to trustworthy sources, the tragic incident that occurred on Friday as farmers were going about their regular business on their farms had left the community in disarray due to fears of more attacks by the as-yet-unidentified local shooters.
The two farmers who were killed were named as Sunday Aiyedero and Mr. Black, a Tiv man, according to Odo-Ape authorities.
According to reports, a number of young people in Odo-Ape demonstrated on Saturday morning to voice their complaints about the growing security situation in their neighborhood and to demand that the government take quick action.
Sources said that the youths completely stopped the highway between Odo-Ape and Obajana-Lokoja, ensuring that no cars could travel on it.
“After several hours, the road was cleared thanks to the security agencies’ intervention.”
In order to ensure that justice is done, we are pleading with the government to stand with the relatives of the victims who have passed away.
“The residents of Odo-Ape and the larger Kabba-Bunu LGA are entitled to safety and tranquility. We are urging all pertinent authorities to put the security of the local populace first.
However, attempts to contact Mr. Williams Ovye Aya of the Police Public Relations Office, Kogi command, were unsuccessful since, as of the time this report was filed, he had not responded to messages sent to him via SMS and Whatsapp.

Zacchaeus Dare, the chairman of the Kabba-Bunu local government, has pledged to bring peace back to the Odo Ape village.
The council chairman promised that those responsible for the ongoing murders in Odo-Ape would not escape punishment in a statement signed by Omofa John, his media assistant.
In a similar incident, Senator Sunday Karimi, the National Assembly lawmaker who represents Kogi West, has promised that every effort will be made to protect people and property in the District.
Karimi promised that this would be the final attack on the village while denouncing the horrific assaults on Odo Ape by unidentified shooters.
“The killings of my people must stop,” the senator said, strongly denouncing the attacks.
