Chukwudi Ogbonna, a member of the Accord Party, is running for the House of Assembly in Rivers State’s Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Constituency II.
Ogbonna was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by unidentified criminals in the Rumuigbo community of the state’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area and brought to an undisclosed location.
At around 8:30 pm, the victim—who is rumored to be a well-liked contender in the election on Saturday—was abducted.

When the incident happened, Ogbonna was traveling back to his house in a car with a companion.
A man named Ifeakachukwu Nwakiri, who claimed to be the victim’s brother, verified the occurrence.
Although the police have been informed, Nwakiri stated the kidnapping was carried out for political reasons.
Also, he requested that the Independent National Election Commission take into account postponing the Saturday State House of Assembly election for Onelga Constituency II until his brother’s release.
He was duped and taken somewhere he didn’t belong. We haven’t heard from him yet, unfortunately. So, we are unable to ascertain his current location.
