The University of Calabar, UNICAL, has stated that it has discovered that some members of the university’s academic staff have revived obnoxious acts of sorting, extortion, sexual harassment, and examination malpractices.
As a result, the university’s authority warns those involved, whom it claims have been identified, to desist and repent, while also threatening to bring the perpetrators before the institution’s Disciplinary Committee.
UNICAL stated that it had identified the departments and teaching personnel involved in the “obnoxious and abhorrent acts” in a memo dated August 10, 202, addressed to the university community and endorsed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Michael P. Okon.

The university stated in the memo titled “Obnoxious and Abhorrent Acts of Sorting Extortion and Sexual Harassment” that it was aware that some of the lecturers involved in the acts also allowed students to write examinations “at homes, hotels, and relaxation places.”
The memo stated, “It has come to management’s attention that some teaching staff have resurrected the obnoxious and abhorrent acts of sorting and sex for grade/sexual harassment.”
“Some departments and lecturers have been singled out, and investigations have begun.” Management is also aware that lecturers are required to provide students with scripts in order for them to write exams at their homes, hotels, and rest stops,” the memo revealed.
“All those involved in these heinous activities are hereby advised to cease and desist. In fact, they will be invited to meet with the Disciplinary Committee soon,” the university warned.
