On the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ayedere, a bus and a Mazda automobile were involved in a collision that left two people confirmed dead and one injured.
The incident was reported to news crews in Abeokuta by Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps.
According to Akinbiyi, the accident happened around 7:10 am when the driver of the unregistered Mazda car went against the flow of traffic and collided head-on with the Mazda bus bearing the license plate SEY 311 ZY.
The drivers of the two vehicles perished, and a motor boy was hurt, the TRACE spokeswoman continued.
Before TRACE arrived, the injured motor kid had been transported to a nearby hospital, according to Akinbiyi, while the car’s driver was picked up by his family to be buried.
He also confirmed that the body of the bus driver had been placed in the morgue at Ifo General Hospital.
“According to an eyewitness, the white Mazda bus carrying food was traveling in the outward lane on its rightful lane. The bus crashed with the unregistered Mazda car, which was traveling in an illegal manner according to the rules of the road, killing both drivers instantly.
He stated that the motorboy of the white Mazda bus had suffered various degrees of injury and had been transferred to a private clinic for care.
Route violations, according to Akinbiyi, carry a number of risks and drivers should stop committing them.
