‘Truth has prevailed’: Gawuna reacts as court sacks Abba Yusuf as Kano Governor

APC candidate Nasiru Gawuna has praised the Court of Appeal’s decision to remove Governor Abba Yusuf from office in the Kano gubernatorial election.

Gawuna issued a statement on Saturday that he signed and gave to reporters in Kano, stating that the state’s March 18 governorship election resulted in the triumph of truth, as confirmed by the Appeal Court.

Gawuna conveyed her delight with the outcome, saying that the tribunal’s and the appellate court’s rulings have confirmed that the courts represents the last resort for the average citizen.

His objective is growth and development through raising the standard of living of the state’s citizens and residents. He declared that the appellate court’s validation of his election would undoubtedly promote democracy.

He praised Allah, the Almighty, for securing our win at the Gubernatorial Election Court of Appeal today.

The court of appeals’ decision to uphold our victory at the election petition tribunal court is something for which I am grateful. Undoubtedly, the appeal court’s recognition of the truth will fortify democracy.

“I would want to take this occasion to express my gratitude to the judges of the election tribunal and the court of appeals for following the truth and seeing to it that justice was served.

“The judiciary remains the last resort for the average person, as both rulings have confirmed.”

Continuing, Gawuna declared that the victory was for all state citizens and residents and urged everyone to support them, regardless of their political allegiance.

It’s a win for every State citizen and resident, he continued. Consequently, I am requesting everyone’s assistance—regardless of political affiliation—to work with my running companion, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, and me to further Kano.

The assistance of Sen. Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, our friendly leader, and the two ministers from Kano State is greatly appreciated.

“Party executives, members of the National and State Assemblies, local government chairmen, and party mainstays from ward to state level are also deserving of my gratitude. Alh. Abdullahi Abbas, the diligent State APC Chairman, is also appreciated.”

The business community, women’s groups, youth, and ulamahs are all to be commended for their prayers and unity.
