Six terrorists have been killed and weapons recovered by the Defense Headquarters Special Operations Brigade troops in Sokoto State.
This was said in a statement released in Gusau on Thursday by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Center, Operation Fansan Yamma.
The soldiers of the Defense Headquarters Special Operations Brigade engaged in a concerted offensive against the terrorists in Lakurawa on January 11 and established contact in the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Six terrorists were eliminated by troops during a firefight, and they also found four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a box of 12.7mm ammunition.
“Unfortunately, five brave soldiers who gave their lives during the operation were lost,” Abdullahi stated.
“We encourage the public to maintain their vigilance and notify the military and security authorities of any suspicious activity pertaining to terrorist activity in the region and its environs.
