Tribunal: Enemies of Kano planning to steal people’s mandate — Islamic cleric

Dr. Sani Ashir, a prominent Muslim cleric in Kano, has claimed that some state enemies are attempting to sway the governorship tribunal’s decision in favor of the opposition All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Mr. Ashir made this statement after leading a special prayer session that the government of Kano State set up to ask Allah for help with the current problems plaguing the nation.

The state governor, Abba Yusuf, the deputy governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the head of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, and other government officials were present at the two-unit prayer that was held at Filin Mahaha in Kano on Saturday.

“The enemies of the people are plotting and preparing to overthrow our leaders, Ya Allah!” Mr. Ashir prayed in supplication after the prayer. the people’s adversaries must be defeated.

He claims that Kano’s adversaries are adamant about stealing the popular mandate “through the back door.”

“Ya Allah bewilder them and slay them. Ya Allah, bring about a lasting peace in our State. Ya Allah bless our shops and our schools,” the Imam said.

Mr. Ashir praised the administration and claimed that in less than 100 days, Mr. Yusuf’s administration had accomplished much in the state.

“We came together today to express our gratitude to Allah (SWT) for keeping our communities, state, and nation safe.

“We praise Allah (SWT) for His kindnesses. We give Him thanks for the benefits of a good rainy season, for the business growth our state has seen recently, and for the recent emergence of prosperity in our state.

We are fortunate to have leaders in Kano state today who have begun to alter the state’s landscape. All over the state, pipe-borne water has begun to overflow.

“Streetlights have been turned back on. Hospitals are getting updated and furnished. Renovating schools is going on. The most vulnerable members of our communities are given support and assistance. The mass wedding of widows and divorcees, known as Auren Zawarawa, is well into the planning stage.

“In September of this year, 1,000 graduates will be chosen to be sent abroad to pursue higher degrees.

Over 7,000 Bayero University, Kano, underprivileged students have their registration fees covered by Kano state. Our streets are being repaired. Our streets no longer have any trash dumps.

“This administration spent about N1.3 billion registering over 57,000 students for NECO. To pray for our national and state authorities, we have gathered here.

The Imam continued, “Oh Allah, here are our leaders, our elected leaders, whom You have blessed us with.”
