19-year-old Opesusi Faith Timilehin passed away, and the Odogunyan community in Ikorodu, Lagos State, is in sorrow.
According to reports, Opesusi committed suicide after getting a low mark on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The terrible death of Opesusi Faith Timilehin, 19, who purportedly committed suicide after being extremely disheartened by her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, has cast a pall over the Odogunyan community in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Faith, a Lagos resident originally from Ogun State’s Abeokuta, was determined to get a degree in microbiology. Her UTME score of 190, which was well below her expectations and, in her opinion, insufficient to gain admission to a university, caused her to become emotionally overwhelmed.
Faith has already attempted the UTME, according to a close family friend. The results of this year’s exam were especially heartbreaking because she had previously taken it and done better.
“She insisted that there was no hope for her future and that her prior score was higher,” the family friend revealed.

Faith apparently consumed a dangerous drug known locally as “Push Out” shortly after seeing her results on Monday. Medical staff failed to save her despite her rapid arrival at Kolak Hospital in Odogunyan. Not long after arriving, she was pronounced dead.
A bitter reminder of a desire that may have come true, an email notification offering her provisional admission to study microbiology arrived just 30 minutes after her death.
Shortly after her death was officially verified, the email arrived. In fact, admittance had been offered to her,” a family insider disclosed.
Locals recall her as kind, quiet, and hardworking, and her sudden death has left a void in the town.
Her distraught parents made the trip from Abeokuta to set up her funeral, while distraught neighbors and supporters expressed their annoyance with the testing process. The young woman’s dejection was attributed by many to the emotional pressure brought on by the general lackluster performance in this year’s UTME.
